Lacking Anticipation

Thrilled Dad (TD) is in hot water these days and has to be careful with his actions concerning His Child (HC). TD’s life changed when he realized that his career was no longer important, as a result of wanting more time with HC’s Mom (HM). TD wanted to express himself and believed life with HM would bring the best opportunity to explore a world beyond the industry.

Time proved TD wrong, as things did not work out well with HM. Although they are pursuing their diverse paths these days, HC was not left out of the picture. The two agreed to raise HC together even if they were no longer into each other. The arrangement was convenient and TD was happy that HM did not deprive him of being a father to HC. However, the day he acted without thoroughly thinking of the repercussions rocked him out of his complacency.

During one his online appearances, TD showed HC to his followers. HM was alerted and later watched the video herself. As TD thought he had done a very normal thing, that is, beam with pride with HC in front of his fans, HM thought otherwise. For her, HC is still too young to be exposed to social media.

Immediately, HM called up TD and told him her concerns − not to use their HC for a PR stunt or publicity for his career. TD replied that he had no such intention, but HM was not at all convinced. She continued to berate TD. Furthermore, she reminded TD of their agreement when she allowed him to have an active role in raising HC, that is, no showing of HC’s face particularly in social media.

Those reminders seemed not enough. HM threatened TD that if a similar incident were to happen again, she will be forced to revoke his rights, such as HC having sleepover nights with him.

Sometime ago, TD decided to move as near as possible to HC even if he and HM failed to sustain their relationship. TD wanted to be close to HC literally. As the turf is not his locale, TD is aware of the possible influence of HM in the area. Consequently, after listening to HM, TD apologized.

HM is known to be outspoken and when she’s right, she will not mince words. TD is well aware of what HM can do and that she will be true to her word if she has the desire to do so. In this case with HC, TD knows that HM has all the rights in bringing up HC on her own and she can revoke his privileges if he does not comply with her rules in raising HC. Thus, TD has no choice but to be very careful on matters dealing with HC’s exposure via social media.
