Critical Experience

Sometimes, actors put in much effort to make sure their scenes come out realistic and believable. Today’s viewers are always quick to lambast or make fun of poor acting. Harsh memes and tweets will subsequently flood social media and actors involved cannot really do much to stop such embarrassment. Hence, production heads must ensure that actors and other production aspects meet standards.

Meeting acting standards was not even a problem when the cast of a forthcoming movie was being planned. Award Winner (AW) and Tested Talent (TT) signed up and the production team was elated that the two accepted their roles. Thus, acting was not going to be a problem, as the two can deliver. Both have done many roles that tested the limits of their skills. Moreover, beyond their professional skills, their personal experiences have contributed to the depth of their acting.

A major scene was rolling and AW and TT faced their roles with professionalism. Suddenly, TT screamed “Cut!” and the production stopped. TT burst into tears and the shoot was stopped. One of the heads talked to TT and tried to pacify her. TT said that she felt violated, as AW started mashing her breast and touching her privates too realistically. Although she knew the sensitivity of a rape scene, she was shocked as AW seemed to be doing the movements intentionally.

AW said that he was instructed to make the scene as realistic as possible and his actions were done with no other intentions. As a veteran actor, he knew how to breathe life into a role. Then, he added that TT was exaggerating her claim. No one among his previous leading ladies had ever complained that he took advantage of his role.

After discussions, TT stood her ground and said she will no longer finish the movie and will file a case against AW. The producers said TT can do whatever she wants and they will file a case of breach of contract if she refuses to fulfill the terms. Thus, the incident became “his word against her word.”

The incident reached TT’s relative, who has a name and reputation in the entertainment industry, and she was very furious. AW is a well-known actor and is among the respected ones in the industry. Although AW is not perfect, the relative could not understand why AW behaved that way toward TT. Thus, she has expressed her support once TT decides to take the legal route. So far, nothing of the case has been heard, as the fate of the movie is up in the air.
