Confessing Love’s End

In a private meeting with Trusted Elder (TE), Honest Man (HM) could only say nothing but the reality that has brought him to the doorsteps of TE. Over the years, when HM was growing up, TE was there for him to guide him through choices professionally and remind him about his personal life. However, HM was stubborn and the point came when he only listened to himself and every advice TE gave was rejected.

Circumstances, however, change. HM was probably too overconfident that his life would be happier if he followed his heart. Unfortunately, that was not the case, as HM forgot something very important and that was himself.

The love that HM thought would be enough was not as simple as he thought it to be. Love Interest (LI) was not what HM thought to be. If HM thought that he would be able to control LI or that LI would accept him a hundred percent, he was very wrong. LI remained independent-minded and HM forgot that LI had an entire clan behind her.

At the beginning, the clan welcomed HM because LI showed him love. However, HM pushed his limits and instead of developing camaraderie with the clan, he opted to be himself. He was aloof and indifferent toward the clan. As the clan was geared toward the conservative side, his behavior was not acceptable. His physical looks, which evolved through time, was thumbed down. The clan was uncomfortable with his style and thus, they stayed away from him. Invitations to family gatherings became lesser, as they do not want to have anything to do with him, as sometimes he comes over looking like he has yet to have a bath.

His habits have taken over his hygiene as well. He allegedly would smell of smoke and alcohol, to the point that he was not allowed to touch or carry his child. This issue soon became a major one for HM and LI. Fights ensued and soon, HM had allegedly physically hurt LI. Any man who hits a woman regardless of the reason is bad news. Subsequently, HM was asked to leave their home. LI went through the motions of having a medical certificate and preliminary legal remedies to make sure HM cannot just barge in their home to see her.

When HM ended his story, TE could have said, ‘I knew that would happen.’ He did not. Instead, he advised HM to seek professional help to ensure that he would have better insights on the way he has been conducting his life.
