One of the best opportunities to gain exposure is to hobnob with celebrities, who will subtly endorse a service or a product for the sake of friendship or simply out of the goodness of their hearts. For example, in the crowded niche of fashion designers, being noticed would be difficult for a starting designer, who does not have connections. Thus, any opportunity to design or even to provide a gown for a celebrity would be grabbed. The quiet deal is that the celebrity has to state whose work he/she is wearing during interviews or in their respective social media accounts.

Whenever big events with long-gown competitions, such as beauty pageants, are near, expect designers to pine for a slot to dress up contestants. These instances provide advertising for designers, whose name recall could become profitable later on. Seeing beautiful gowns with intricate cuts and accessories could make non-showbiz people look for and commission the designer. Thus, designers keep an eye for possible ways to promote their work, and quite a number actually nurture friendships with celebrities, who could give a good word or two about their product.

Everyone knows that producing a gown incurs costs. A gown is a creative idea, and a design should be properly compensated. Then, skills are needed in cutting the cloth, sewing, and attaching intricate laces or beadwork. All these stages consume time and material that would have certain monetary equivalent. Thus, some high-end designers only loan out their gowns for a certain amount. Several celebrities do not mind paying, as they would often be proud to wear the work of a top designer. Unless they have paid for the gown, they have to return it to the designer.

Although agreements are clear, but are sometimes silent, a celebrity who wears a gown should, at the very least, offer to pay for the gown. If the designer feels like it, he/she could even give the gown to the celebrity. In the case of Actress Host (AH), she often asks for the gown she wears. Without any form of compensation, AH would charm her way to get a freebie, which is the gown she had worn. To avoid any conflict, her designers give in, and thus, AH would have a free outfit. The asking of AH seems to contradict her serene disposition. It seems out of her character to ask. AH comes from a well to do family and has a steady career. These factors often leave her target designers wondering why she would rather ask for the gown without paying, rather than pay for the gown herself.
