Sacrifice Your Love for Your Career

Despite the higher degree of liberal thinking nowadays, various sectors still frown at same sex relationships. Often, parents put their foot down and do whatever they could to prevent their children from engaging in such relationships. When Showbiz Parent (SP) found out that her child (HC) was allegedly involved in a same-sex relationship, she did was she thought was right to nip it in the bud.

SP confiscated the communication devices of HC to prevent either party from contacting each other. The other party (OP) is allegedly part of the network where HC works. Thus, when stories came out that HC and OP were an item, both were deemed to have jeopardized their jobs. Instead of extending the project of HC, rumors have it that it will end early despite its good reviews and refreshing storyline. The relationship has caused a problem in the production as SP has shown animosity towards the relationship.

Having had international and local exposure, surely, SP must have worked with the LGBT community, and thus, she should already be more understanding of such relationships. Although HC is still young, SP could have taken a more understanding approach instead of drastic measures. The common excuse for such actions is the cliché that a parent is doing what is best for the career of the child. Well, the truth is SP is not as highly in demand as before and HC is now one of the potential talents for stardom of the network. Simply put, HC is the breadwinner of the family.
