Gretchen Barretto to Address Family Issues Privately

ACTRESS Gretchen Barretto became emotional while giving a short message regarding the recent controversy involving her family.

Appearing on Sunday talk show "The Buzz," Gretchen said it is not easy that her life is being scrutinized by the public.

"Hindi madali ang pinagdadaan ko ngayon. Hindi madali yung pinag-uusapan ka ng buong Pilipinas. Hindi madaling pakinggan yung pinagdaanan ko... yung childhood ko," she said.

The actress appealed for privacy, saying family problems should not be discussed in public.

Gretchen said 18-year-old daughter Dominique knows her story.

"Many years from now lilingunin niya itong nangyari sa akin. Maaalala ni Dominique na my mom never fought. And that's what's important to me. Yun ang importante. That's what I like to leave behind," she said.

Earlier, Gretchen was called a "liar" and capable of "evil manipulation" by her own mother Inday Barretto.

Gretchen's brother Joaquin came to her defense but other sibling Gia Barretto-Reyes sided with Inday, lambasting the actress for allegedly hurting their family.

The actress has already hinted at taking legal action against Gia.

Brewing Trouble Behind The Show

Image courtesy of Fashion PULIS reader

When the variety show needed a change after its original director left, the network decided to have two directors handle the show. The system was implemented such that Directors A and B would alternately take charge of the show every other week. After all, two heads were thought to be better for the show.

Unfortunately, demoralization among the production is brewing after they found out the negative comments of some followers of Director B in his alleged site. In the fansite of Director B, criticisms regarding the work of Director A persist, and some are even demanding for the resignation of Director A.

Sadly, the bullying tactics of the followers of Director B are affecting the morale of some production people. They feel that instead of discouraging such comments, Director B, as the alleged owner of the said page, is actually letting his fans dish off the criticisms. Some comments paint hatred it when Director A earns praises for a job well done.

The consequence is that the show's episodes handled by each director have turned into an unhealthy contest between them.  Of course, the loser in the said “competition” is the production team who has been working hard for both directors. After all, the team only has the welfare of the show in mind regardless who directed which. Some are losing enthusiasm when it comes to Director B as most are sympathetic to Director A.

Instead of being inspired to do their work, most get discouraged from all the negativities that permeate the air.  If the internal matters cannot be resolved, then the show might really just fall far behind the real competition, i.e., the show on the rival channel. They better do their homework quick before the rival eats them whole. As it is, the shows' episodes of late leave a lot to be desired.

Letter from a Reader: An Amalayer Story

Hi FP,

You probably heard of this a thousand times, pero I am one of the people who stay up late just to read your fresh gossip and hot promos every 12 midnight :)

But right now, I'd like to tell you my bad experience with a very rude lady guard at a big mall in QC North. And since this blog gets results, hopefully some people concerned get to read this and act accordingly.

Last Thursday, April 18, I went to that mall, and as usual, everyone goes thru the security inspection. But from where I was standing in the line, I saw the lady guard on duty "picking her nose" shamelessly right in front of us people in line. The sight was so gross and vulgar! I saw her holding a tissue on her hand but she chose to use her gloves to clean up the "residue."

When I was finally in front of her, I really felt icky knowing where those hands had been. Without sounding really offensive, I told her that it's okay if she threw the tissue first since I had my packed lunch inside my bag. But instead of being embarrassed, the lady guard even yelled at me, "Bakit? Ilalagay ko ba 'to sa bag mo?" (referring to the tissue on her hand)

She further went on, "Wag ho kayo maselan at baka ma-Amalayer ka!"

I was so humiliated, and I left. All this time, her fellow guards did nothing to alleviate the situation.

By the way this scene happened at the Jollibee entrance, around 12 noon and the guard's last name was Oliveros. I often take this route and it was not just me that this boorish lady guard came in rude contact with.

If I can be helped to file a formal complaint, please do and I thank you in advance.

More power to you, FP and God bless us all!

Anna

Inday Barretto's Parting Shot

Source: www.philstar.com

To set the record straight, Inday Barretto didn’t actually start the word war that has divided her family. Her explosive letter to Funfare published last week was her answer to the ugly exchange of messages on Instagram from unidentified parties but suspected to be either Gretchen or Claudine (with whom Inday sided), or their defenders/sympathizers that dragged into the fray other members of the family especially, including Inday’s son Jayjay who came to Gretchen’s defense and Inday’s US-based daughter Gia to Inday and Claudine’s defense.

Other non-family members, like Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films and Robbie Tan of Seiko Films, two companies where Gretchen has done movies, claimed that Gretchen is a good daughter who worked hard for her family. Actress Tanya Montenegro issued her own statement, also defending Gretchen.

Asked by Boy Abunda on The Buzz last Sunday how the whole mess would end, hopefully peacefully, Gretchen said in a statement, “I don’t see any possibility of a reconciliation.”

Here now is the last word (knock on wood!) from Inday who wants to put a period to what her letter has started:

This is to respectfully inform anyone curious and concerned that the first statement to Ricky Lo was supposed to put a stop, a plea in fact, to the allegations maligning my daughter Claudine in social media.

It was never my intention to prolong it into the World War III level

I am back for the last time, now the target of vicious lies and allegations, a leading lady to a teleserye of made-up stories.

I was warned that it is hard to win a war against those evil unless one is evil, too.

I should be afraid having no money and power to get legal assistance. Many offered to talk on my behalf, people not related but have been part of and witness to our family life.

And so having no need for a Limping Cockroach to come out from a hole for a glimpse of light, I stand up unafraid to correct these vicious lies.

To Tanya, you say you respect me. Please don’t — keep it— you need that for yourself. I don’t need respect from someone like you. I have plenty of it from where I come from.

I know who you are, what you are, but you shocked the world at how you could face the camera so professionally comfortable in lying to tell a story of more than 30 years ago as if you were there when it happened, as if you were part and parcel of our household when not even our cats and dogs know you — tsk, tsk, tsk! — lying to the hilt without batting an eyelash. Unless you were coached to read a prepared story.

No. 1: No, Tanya, it is never true that Gretchen’s tuition was not paid. School is top priority of our payables.

No. 2: No money for recess and lunch? I don’t even want to dignify you on that since you are not a dignified one.

No. 3: So you saw Gretchen with a bruise of black and blue? Do you want to insinuate that we did that to her? We have no history of violence. Don’t be dramatic. People might ask you to convince them some more and all these events of 30 years ago, huh?

To Mother Lily: Yes, Mother Dearest, it is true that I was the one who used to pick up Gretchen’s checks because she was a minor, remember? But it is not true what you said that you know that not a cent went to her.

The cents went to pay for, 1) car, 2) driver, 3) yaya, 4) gasoline, 5) food, 6) clothes, 7) and others (kulang pa).

I hope you understand being a mother, too. And by the way, we still have the contract we signed with you.

To Robbie Tan: Thank you, Robbie, for having given Gretchen more work because you thought she needed money for the family. But for your information and correction, at age 18 she was no longer with us because she was already living-in with Joey Loyzaga and our family was already in Iloilo. We did not use her money, period, same way you made good business from the projects you made for her. More power to you.

For the last time on Gretchen being the bread winner, this much I can say: How can she be when her father and I were alive and still are?

Accusations and lies that I want to address:

• Gretchen sent her siblings to school? Three of them were already out of school when she joined show business at age 14. The projects she had when she was still under my care were never enough to pay for our, 1) rent, 2) electricity, 3) food on the table and 4) pay for the schooling…all of them on that meager income?

• The bill for Mr. Barretto’s first heart attack was paid for from a health insurance. The second heart attack that required a bypass, yes, was paid by Tonyboy Cojuangco, something which Gretchen never made us forget. I went to the billing section to settle the bill. I was told that it had already been paid from a PLDT account.

We are eternally grateful to Tony for that sincere generosity.

Gretchen, yes, I am letting you go to set you free from the burden of being a part of our family. Whatever else you want to exact from us to buoy up your portrayal of a damsel in distress that got you the sympathy and brought you to where you are now? Be happy. At least from this squabble, the truth has finally come out from the talks that have been going on behind our backs about you being an abused child admitted by you when you made sumbat through what you made Jayjay sign.

Thank you that we are able to correct the lies before dad and I close our eyes and give back to your father the dignity he deserves for he really is an honest and principled person. Again, for your sake, to remind you with no apologies for the lack of classy cars, bodyguards and bling-blings, our house, our home was what gave you these: A roof over your head, food in your stomach, clothes on your back and the love and care that you think is lacking when you were a nobody and had nothing.

God be with you, as He is with us, now that the truth has set us free
