The Emerging Monster

Time and again, showbiz industry will never be bereft of swell-headed stars, those with over-sized ego, so full of themselves, that no one else matters but them. The descriptions fit the term that is specially coined for them -- monster.

This Celebrity Host CH  seems so overwhelmed getting the big breaks too much too soon. Having attained a certain level of prominence, CH is always conscious and protective of his status. He is fully aware how obnoxious he is to most of his followers and co-workers -- yet he seems to enjoy such image, and always on the defensive when he has to. His success has definitely gone to his head, quickly learning how to make demands, and consequently making life difficult for people he works for.

At a production meeting for his Show SW recently, CH aired out his hard feelings towards SW's Production team SWP. He questioned why he is made to wear cheap outfits that make him look funny and awkward. He complained not realizing that his comedy skits would look weird with him in pricey, normal outfits. Add to that the fact that it would be a difficult request for the SWP to provide, given the wardrobe budget that they have to adhere to. Something that CH knew very well.

CH also raised issues like why his SW family doesn't support his concerts and movie premiere nights, even comparing himself with a co-host who SW has been giving consistent support to. CH insinuated that his Other Show OW family is so supportive of him, wishing that SW would extend the same kind of support to him. One SWP reasoned out that they find him intimidating, and that there's no way they could go to his concerts when CH would not even extend personal invitations to them. SWP added further that how could OW  not go to his movie premiere nights when they are the very people behind those movies. CH was tonque-tied with that rebuttal.

To his SW family, CH has quickly evolved into an incurable airhead, who's agenda will be about himself and his interests...always. He wants to be treated with kid gloves at all times, and given preferential treatment, much like the other big stars of the network who were way established and home-grown, years before CH even struck into showbiz consciousness.

Amids all those, little did everyone know that they would be in for a major shock.

Weeks ago, CH expressed his biggest scare. He feared the big possibility that his record-breaking solo movie would be eclipsed and dethroned by the returns of his Latest Movie LM where he was just one of the stars. CH got so affected that he was overheard telling people not to watch LM anymore -- for very obvious reasons. People were shocked to hear that CH would go so low and make such insensitive statements just so he could entrench himself, even at the cost of his friendship which the public thought was genuine.

Question: How will CH's bff's in LM react to this massive insecurity?

In showbiz, it is very common for celebrities  to undergo cosmetic surgery, as they believe it helps improve their public image, which also means improved career opportunities. In the Philippines, there has been a lot of public assumptions about stars who have gone under the knife to alter, or enhance their physical look for the above reasons, and more. Nothing wrong with that. But while some of these stars choose to ignore these talks, a big majority deny that they had ever undergone such. People ask why do they have to deny, especially if it is something so obvious?

Spotted: Sarah Lahbati in Cebu During Her 1 Month Unapproved Absence?

Filipinas in Showbiz received a few pictures in the mail, allegedly lifted from Annabelle Rama’s Facebook account along with a note saying they were taken in December 2012. In the pictures is Sarah Lahbati with the Gutierrez family and actor JC de Vera on stage campaigning for Annabelle Rama in her congressional bid in Cebu City. It was reported that this was where Sarah Lahbati allegedly spent her unapproved 1 month vacation from GMA.

These same pictures and details were likewise emailed to Fashion PULIS.

Amidst all the brouhaha about Ms. Lahbati's wanting to be released from her contract with GMA and talks of Ms. Rama's alleged participation and backing of her, what do these pictures tell the public?

Not a Beautiful Judgment

A beautiful teleserye started to air starring two of the network's most bankable stars -- Bankable Actor BA and pretty actress. Everybody's expectation was so high for this much-awaited team up. It was a very encouraging working environment in the beginning. On the set, everyone was supportive of each other -- the crew, staff, the talents. And why not? They were enjoying pretty good ratings. Suddenly, things turned for the worse. BA's behavior had become erratic and counter-productive for the show to continue effectively and productively. People wondered what had become of him. Has his passion for his craft gone? Has he become jaded and no longer find his craft challenging enough? What gives?

BA's unprofessionalisnm has taken a big toll on the 4th week of the show's airing. The staff and crew, the whole production team PT for that matter no longer had that encouraging spirit to do their best for the show. There was one taping for airing episode (meaning taping today, airing tomorrow) but BA was nowhere to be found. As a consequence, the script had to be revised at the last minute to suit the needs at that point, so that taping wouldn't be packed up and substantial losses incurred.

Everything became a mess and chaotic that brought a lot of difficulties for the the show and the production. It came to a point that the scriptwriter would just call the executive producer EP and scripts that were handwritten were given to the stars -- that was just so weird. Things were so out of hand, that the director had to approach BA's friends to request them to help put some sense into BA's head so that he would cooperate and spare the show from eventual demise. But it was futile. BA was just so disconnected.

Suddenly, BA's passion was no longer there, his behavior rubbed off on the entire PT. They were demoralized. Stars were mad. BA was uncontrollable. There was inefficiency all over. What a perfect recipe for disaster! Result? No Rating! PT already gave up and accepted their fate. Right now, they only continue to work just to get it over and done with. They are helpless, even had to cover up for the lead actor that caused it all -- and why? Because he is perceived as a network gem (sic).

BA has slowly but surely made a name for himself as a gifted and versatile actor. All that he is now, he earned through hard work. Guess it's never too late to reform. Move now. Be a gem, not a potential goner.
