A Case of Miscommunication?

Phenomenal Performer (PP) and her management decided to bring  PP's very successful Manila concert to the province. Other than PP, several artists from the different networks were also seen in the festivities of the said province. However, it was PP's presence that was a surefire  guarantee to draw and bring in crowds. She is definitely one of the most important stars of her generation. In fact, PP is a model for living up to the challenges. While she has proven her acting and hosting skills, it was her venture into the concert scene that really showed she won't stop at nothing to prove herself.

Prior to her concert, her management called for a press conference. Most of the members of the press chose to cover PP rather than the other talents from the other networks. Her presence was big news as she would be holding her concert in the city's newest and biggest concert venue.

At the appointed time and venue of the conference, the members of the press were present and accounted for. However, PP was nowhere in sight. The press people patiently waited. Two hours had passed and still no PP showed up at the venue. Everyone was asking each other what could have happened. The organizers did not even have the courtesy to inform them if changes were made at the last minute. Out of frustration, the press people left the venue, and ended up giving away their tickets for the concert. Is this a case of miscommunication or did PP deliberately snub her own press conference?

How many times have you lined up to use the loo, only to be cut by another person? Falling in line is a sign of courtesy and breeding. In fact, lines are respected especially if the venue happens to be a restaurant in a high-end mall, and a major event sponsored by your network is happening.

Well, all the mentioned circumstances, manners, and respect, were disregarded by character actor (CA). At that time, the management arm of his network had an event, and CA was one of the participants. When he got to the comfort room, he passed the line, and moved as though there were no other individuals waiting for their turn. The people were so peeved at his behavior. He did not even say “Excuse, me.” He cut the line and did not even bother to say anything.

Is CA living his bad boy image even outside his telerserye? Sometime ago, CA said he did not want to be known as merely the more masculine version of his network’s top male talent. Hence, CA eventually landed roles that showed the meanness in the characters he portrays. It is his latest role with his scruffy look that is sealing his fame as an effective villain.

The Desirable Model and the Upstart Public Servant

Model host (MH) is frequently seen with a public servant (PS) from the south. While MH is currently single, PS is likewise separated from his wife. MH and PS are often spotted in public places, and even in government gatherings that PS goes to. The presence of MH in the event did not escape the media who covered one gathering they went to one time. When asked if they were a couple, MH said they were just going together. PS replied that he agrees with whatever MH says.

Although MH and PS might look like a would-be couple, the people in the area of PS are doubtful. Being a young politician, PS has already shown signs of lavish and flamboyant lifestyle. He wears designer clothes that cost way above the salary of the average public servant. People observe that PS is trying to be as flashy in his appearances as much as the public personality (PP) he admires. PP is a local but world-famous celebrity owing to his exceptional skills. The public knows that PP can spend as much because he earns astronomical sums of money. PS has been criticized to be living an “imeldific life” for him to be accepted by the tight community of the young politicians.

Where does MH fall in this scheme? To be seen with MH creates an image for PS. Her presence attracts attention for the both of them. Since MH is a celebrity, associating with her can add to PS' name recall come election time. On another side, allegedly, PS also swings both ways. Hence, being seen with MH can help quash such rumors and project a somewhat playboy image for him. A similar rumor cites that the reason for his failed marriage is that his wife allegedly caught him with a male lover. Thus, this arrangement with MH works very well: PS projects the image he wants, while MH gets handsomely paid. If love manages to enter into the picture (MH seems to fall in love quickly), then it might be good as such a relationship can be very favorable for both.

Overheard Controversial Private Conversation

If you, dear readers, are familiar with “Hills Like White Elephants,” a short story by Ernest Hemingway, you will find this blind item so much like it. In the story, a couple engages in a dialogue without directly implying their concern. All that was clear was that they were going out of town, and the man was encouraging the woman to get rid of “it.” Much like the couple in the short story, character actress (CA) and model turned actor (MT) were overheard talking about a similar concern.

CA and MT were spotted doing some serious PDA in a restaurant. After a while, both became seriously involved in conversation. The other diners and the staff did not mind what CA and MT were doing but when CA and MT left, those who overheard the talk tried to speculate the seriousness of the conversation between CA and MT.

MT was allegedly heard asking CA if she were sure about “it.” Then, he said that they could go abroad. A few minutes later, CA was heard asking MT as to why she should not keep “it.” Later on, MT said, “your tummy isn’t that big yet.” The fragments of the conversations left the curious listeners wondering if CA were indeed pregnant.

At the height of her career, which was years and years ago, CA had a controversial post-break up scenario. She was in hot water for allegedly using some resources she should not have. Having atoned and shrugged off that relationship, CA resumed her career by playing supporting roles for the teleseryes of her mother network. Meanwhile, the highlight of MT’s career is getting meaty supporting parts in the other network’s primetime shows. As for his personal life, MT took responsibility in admitting he is a dad.

Coincidentally, CA and the mother of MT’s children work in the same network. There is nothing to worry about because MT and the mother are civil to each other and at one point, they were even thought to have reconciled for good. However, they parted ways, resumed their careers, and went on to have other relationships.

Will CA and MT admit or dismiss this story? Maybe in a few months, we will know.

Lousy Attitude Continues

Actor-endorser (AE) has to be careful in his actions and unguarded statements because his behavior is getting to be a turn off to people around him. While his network has done wonders to keep interest in him, AE is showing attitudes that have become bothersome, as more and more negative feedback continue to tarnish his name. Since he has been linked to the more popular talents of his network, AE has been branded a user. Initially, he was said to be a crush of a comedian host, and that association made people curious about him. Now, his name is attached to a prized and popular discovery (PD) of the network. Given that PD has the talent and the fans, AE is definitely gaining mileage from their love team

Stories have it that AE already has some demands when it comes to procedures involving him and PD. For example, every time they have a show, both of them have to enter the stage together. This strategy makes it seem that the fans are screaming for both AE and PD and not just PD,  since it will be risky if the screams die down when AE enters alone or after PD. Another story is that AE is allegedly making it a bit difficult for the production as he is reportedly taking much time before he gets to the show's venue. He prefers staying and killing time inside his vehicle, rather than bonding with his co-stars or getting ready on the set. Clearly and often enough, AE chooses to isolate himself.

The worst story so far is that AE was overheard calling the press “dead-hungry” (patay gutom) after he gave them a treat at the food chain he is endorsing. Granting that he said this statement in jest, it was so uncalled for and definitely left a bad taste in the mouth. Has AE forgotten what the press can be capable of doing to hurt his career?

When asked to comment about all the negative issues surrounding him, AE merely shrugged them off. Perhaps, AE should be reminded that other than being in a major network -  professionalism and a good PR (press relations) can not be without the other if he wants to last in the business.
