These young stars are considered the popular love teams of their generation. Couple 1 is both for reel and for real. Male partner 1 (MP1) started with another network and eventually got his breaks in this new network. His ability to speak in Filipino was honed by the acting assignments his new network has given him. A few weeks ago, news even came out that he was the actor being eyed by the other network, known for the staggering offers it dangles in front of its target actors. MP1 declined the offer as he was already being groomed to be part of a reality show. Moreover, MP1 wouldn't want to leave  his female partner 1 (FP1) once he moves. MP1 and FP1 have gone through several controversies, including denying that they were in a relationship until MP1 showed another actor what his fists were made of.

Couple 2 is a new partnership. Male partner 2 (MP2) got discovered in modelling and playing a popular sport. Like MP1, MP2 had to get rid of the twang he acquired while growing up abroad. The biggest break came when he participated in a soap in which his character ended up with the character of Female partner 2 (FP2). If it were not for the failing health of the lead actor then, MP2 would not have been given attention, and his chemistry with FP2 would be unnoticed. FP2 is a homegrown talent who was discovered in a reality show. FP2 has her own sad stories, which include family problems and a failed relationship with a hunk actor. Nonetheless, FP2 has shown resilience and has moved up to being one of the top assets of the network.

While Couples 1 and 2 were on tour with the other stars of their network, they requested for FP1 to be roommates with FP2, and so with MP1 and MP2. Then at night time, FP1 went to the room of the boys, and MP2 would go to the room of the girls. In short, the couples stayed together at night for the duration of the tour. The couples also caused delays because they would disappear and not join the rest of the entourage unless they were promoting their own shows.

While MP1 and FP1 have already admitted to their relationship, MP2 and FP2 have not. Couple 2 is consistent in saying that MP2 is still courting FP2. The managers seem to encourage Couple 2 to say “no comment” when it comes to their relationship to leave the fans longing. After all, several reel couples lost their magic and box office appeal when they admitted to having a relationship. If Couple 2 were still in the courting stage, then why did they agree to share a room while abroad?

Jointly Amiss to Eliminate Drinking

The lives of this mother and daughter seem to be intertwined. The saying, "like mother, like daughter," sounds so apt for them.

Everybody knows that this young, talented actress and brand-new mother (YAM) was in the headlines again. Not long after her controversial pregnancy, and recent birth of her daughter whose father is in denial, YAM goes busy bar hopping and drinking again with her mostly male buddies. Seems like YAM's mother, also a multi-awarded drama actress (MAD) can't really control her. And wonder no more, YAM probably took after her drinking habit after her mom. In short, may "pinagmanahan," oh well, I kid you not.

It is common knowledge that MAD was talked about to be a very heavy drinker even before she gave birth to YAM, also at an early age. Her friends wondered how she would consume alcohol as if there was no tomorrow - breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight - she had them all. And of course, smoking came with the drinking, too. Then, she had to lie low from showbiz for a while when she got pregnant with YAM.

And now, after more than 20 years and already a grandmother courtesy of YAM, there seems to be no let-up. She had long resumed that bad and hard habit to break again. What's worse is her daughter taking after her and even getting into trouble in the process.

This made some people wonder why her very strict religious organization tolerated everything she did and did not expell her. Can you guess who are this mother-daughter drinking tandem? Trouble at a Wedding Expo?

Over the weekend, the participants of a wedding expo were left waiting outside the venue. It seems that the organizer still has to settle some matters with the management of the venue. Even if the exhibitors have set up, the place is still locked as of Saturday afternoon. No one can enter the venue. Suppliers, fashion designers, exhibitors, performers, etc., were left waiting outside the venue for hours.

The said wedding event is one of the most awaited bridal fairs as it ushers in the bridal month of June. More so, this event has been staged for almost nine years, and has a certain following. Hence, it is a wonder why the organizers overlooked such a crucial matter with the venue. Hopefully, the organizer can bounce back and live up to its theme of having a happily-ever-after ending for this event.

The Impeachment That was - That's Entertainment

The recently-concluded impeachment trial of former Chief Justice Renato Corona was one for the books, an ultimate spectacle, depending on whose side you took. Truly, it's only in the Philippines that something as serious would still elicit entertainment from both the trial participants and the audience that religiously followed them. The 40-day teleserye had it both - drama and comedy - with all its attendant stars and villains.

Whose heart would not melt at the sight of the embattled Renato Corona narrating his family's very humble "no aircon and no househelp" lifestyle. Oh, that's so very Ripley's believe it or not. Come on, Mr. Corona, your fabulous wife would have beaten you to death long ago had you subjected her to these. You think your crocodile tears which fall at whim would work magic just like that? Remember that even the "unscripted" reconciliation with the Basa's did not impact as expected...yes, inspite of Mrs. Corona and the sisters's facebook smiles.

The ex-Chief Justice looked so pathetic while justifying his financial genius in a tearful three-hour monologue which he capped with a walkout. His refusal to be cross-examined led him to ask to be "excused" as the Chief Justice - the nerve. And why would the sweet sugar be the culprit, I just don't get it. Is that a mountain on a molehill? But still, I admire the guy for coming to his senses, thanks to his sugar-coated excuse. He regrettably returned riding in the most abused vehicle of the decade - the wheelchair.

And what about Corona's surprise nemesis for the day that did a litany of his many "palusot?" No other than bar topnotcher and deputy lead prosecutor Congressman Rudy Farinas. He definitely brought the house down with his brilliantly crafted revelations, matched with his sterling delivery and "maka-masa" Pinoy talk. Move over, Bong, Jinggoy and Erap - while you probably have the acting talent to boot, you can never have his skill. Farinas asked Corona how on earth would he think of buying dollars in 1949 when he was in Grade 4? Wow, that's Ripley's take two for me and you. And ohmaygas, there were so many countless Ripley's that followed thereafter. Farinas did savor his moment before his very approving audience. For his 15-minute fame, people have suddenly forgotten his Velez and Carlson love chapters. Uh oh, have we?

And oh Miriam, the unforgettable Senator Miriam Defensor "unlimited talk" Santiago? Her funny pick-up lines would have saved the day for the mostly impatient and irritated public. For the nth time, the feisty senator was mean to her audience - as she ruthlessly tortured them to listen to her scream, err -- speech. It was to her great advantage that her good friend, Atty. Vitaliano "hear no evil" Aguirre chose to behave that day. Otherwise, there would have been more angry bubbles floating in the air. And so, she did it again, her shameless self-promotion she had mastered to the hilt, making everyone, even the original Muhammad Ali cringed: I AM THE GREATEST AND ALL OF YOU ARE FOOLS!! Haha!

On the other hand, Senator Lito "picha pie" Lapid probably had the best moment of all, more than enough to gather admirers for his unparalled humility to admit his intellectual and scholastic limitations. A high school graduate judging a sitting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was an ultimate nightmare he didn't think was coming, "Whew, pinagpawisan ako dun," was his reaction after explaining his vote.

Makes you want to think - MIRIAM and LAPID are senate seatmates. What do they talk about? But certainly, Miriam can learn a thing from Lapid on how to effortlessly trend on twitter worldwide. And for that helluva feat - he deserves the recognition. Bravo Leon Guerero!

And as one reader asked, what about the BAD senators - Bongbong, Arroyo and Defensor? Well, can others do the answering, pls? Kidding aside, I commend the three for standing up to their principles. Mr. Corona owes them big really. At least, he was not orphaned.

Finally, the impeachment presiding officer and defense lead cousel Juan Ponce Enrile and retired Justice Serafin Cuevas, respectively - what can I say? I'm stoned and speechless. If all 80 plus gentlemen have their briliant memory, Gingko Bilova will definitely run out of business. Eat your heart out, kuya Kim! Pray that these two legends will not decide to screw you up, or you, too, would be out of business.

That's it, folks. That's entertainment for you. Impeachment style. Only from our beloved Philippines.

Incessant Actress

It seems like a veteran singer actress (VS) is still smitten with a businessman (BM), who was once her boyfriend. BM pioneered a hit idea in telecommunication some years ago, and hobnobs with media personalities. While in her marriage with a good-looking guy, VS still likes BM. However, BM did not consider VS more than a friend after their break up. Besides, BM was involved with a media personality (MP), and was happy with his relationship. Despite this situation, VS would ask BM to be her escort in gatherings and other special events. The husband of VS did not mind this as he was quite secure with VS, and BM was also a good friend.

The time when VS and her husband separated, was, coincidentally, the time when BM and MP were having problems, too. So VS took the opportunity to strengthen her ties with BM via social media, publicly at that. She would go to the gym at the same time BM would be working out. She invited him to a once-in-a-lifetime event and claimed she had an extra ticket. While in that event, BM and VS bumped into MP and her family. Seeing BM and VS together got MP upset, and BM said that he and VS were not together. To prove his point, he left ahead of VS. (VS - 0, MP - 1)

In another instance, VS invited BM to a concert, again, via social media. Because BM and the concert performer were once linked, he was just not interested to go. To make sure BM went, VS invited members of his family. Consequently, BM had no choice but to go with VS.

Despite what happened to her married life, VS is one of those actresses who had maintained a solid career. She was never lacking in assignments, and was always visible on TV. She is not at all bad-looking, too. Now, why does she seem so desperate for BM who is not even interested anymore? She can have other men given her beauty and brains. Meanwhile, BM is still dodging whatever attempts VS is doing, while MP hates the guts of VS. Incidentally, how would VS and MP react when they bump into each other, now that VS crossed over to the other station?
