Honest Dissatisfaction

The diligent manager (DM) discovered very good performer (VP) and their friendship developed into a business relationship. DM used his connections to make sure VP had good exposure in print, TV, and radio. The press often declined to write negatively about VP because of DM. Soon VP was the hottest discovery of the network. VP was given a daily show and afterwards, he had a weekly show that presented what he did best. Meanwhile, DM maintained that he and VP only had a verbal contract, as they were friends.

As VP became a household name, DM discovered that VP was getting bookings without his knowledge. Thus, DM was losing his commissions, not to mention being bypassed as the manager. When stories floated that all was not well between DM and VP, both declined to comment. In a press conference for VP, DM was present but the other guests felt the gap between them. Then, the press releases came out stating that VP has cut ties with DM. The network was the new manager of VP.

As soon as VP left DM, the showbiz press had a frenzy writing and commenting on the swellheaded behavior of VP, his distasteful jokes, and his picking up fights with other more senior performers. When he was with DM, VP had more leeway. With the new manager, VP has to report all his activities to his road manager. To make matters worse, VP’s production assistant was fired.

With the reformatting of his daily show, VP is under pressure, as he has to conform with the structure of the show unlike in the previous format where it was spontaneous that it all seemed like he was merely playing. Adding stress is the demand that the success of one segment in the new show totally relies on VP. Earlier, VP stated that he no longer wants his weekly show as he was getting tired of doing the same  thing repeatedly. This certain girl that VP dislikes will be taking over the slot of his show.

Perhaps VP should learn to count his blessings before declining offers left and right. These blessings might not last for long with his attitude. Is this attitude a result of VP regretting his decision to drop DM for the sake of bigger projects and more money? Now, he has to work very hard for every peso the network pays him and he has to conform strictly to the rules of the new management.

This politician has had his share of performing in comedy and drama shows in TV and cinema. He has now found a certain thrill in social networking. Compared to his contemporaries, he has been liberal in expanding his network and being active in microblogging.

In particular, he adds the curious and specifically, young girls who are awed at him. He prefers the girls to have voluptuous physiques and be at least 18 or older. Since he fears to be seen in public, he meets the girl he fancies inside his vehicle. Once he is able to convince the girl, he touches her private parts. He takes all precautions so that he can easily deny any incident that will jeopardize his political and showbiz career as well as his family image.

Behind the Pageantry

The invitation said the screening starts at 2pm. The press and the photographers arrived on time and were eager to meet the applicants. THREE hours later, nothing was happening at the venue. The press people were restless and starving. The organizers did not provide food for them.Worse, the organizers asked them to step out of the venue and return 20 minutes later. The press then saw the applicants still practicing when they came back. They wondered if the screening would ever start. After almost an hour, food was finally served.

Given the events that transpired, an important point is whether the organizers can get their act together by starting on time and respecting the media. After all, media people can make or break the future of the chosen contestants and the contest itself. Now, was the MORE than FOUR-hour wait of the press worth it?

One guest commented that the event overflowed with applicants who had all guts and confidence. Those traits are good but it was a screening for a prestigious beauty pageant.

Shunning the Press

Controversial boyfriend (BF) tagged along with his actress girlfriend (GF) at her mother studio. Upon their arrival, GF became uncomfortable seeing the press. After doing her plugs for the international program of the network, she yelled, “Thank you!”

Initially, people thought GF merely wanted to let everyone know she was done. In a blink, she grabbed BF by the arm and they hurriedly left the venue. The reporters were puzzled at her behavior but then they realized that her “Thank you!” was more of a sarcastic remark as they were not able to interview BF.

If GF did not want the press to interview BF, why was he there? Did BF really tag along or was he there to make sure GF did not play around? Is their presence in public events sending a message?

Acting Rudely?

Host (H) told the staff that his cut off is 9pm. The staff agreed but the taping was still not over at 10pm so H walked out. The staff and the executive producer ran after H. What H did not know was that a politician-producer (PP), who was invited to be part of that episode, was already madly infuriated. 

PP already waited for two hours in the dressing room before her take. Then, when H threw his tantrum, the taping stopped for half an hour. PP was getting restless as she still had an engagement. The floor director kept covering up for H by saying the show was having technical difficulties. Finally, H calmed down and stepped out just before PP was going to give her piece of mind.

On hindsight, H has been with the show for quite some time so he should be more understanding about the taping of his show. Moreover, H should also have enough compassion for the other participants because they come from all over the country just be a part of his show.

Can we blame H for walking out of his own show?
