I like a good Greek tale but not what approaches fan fiction. Above all, they did not employ one Greek actor and totally avoided Athens in their world tour.
Yung si Lupita as Helen of Troy pwede pa maintindihan eh… Pero yung isang trans-man (Elliot) to portray Achilles as the strongest Greek soldier, defeats the essence/masculinity of the character. Jusko! Baka next time, transwoman naman ang gumanap sa role ng isang mother 🤦♀️
9:00 and yet Homer is the author and his work is canon. Plus, greek representation in Homer's work should be based on Greek culture and history otherwise it is cultural misrepresentation. This is part of historiographical practice. It is like taking on the story of Noli and then bastardizing it, adding new characters, deliberately chabging the charcaters away from the description and intent of Jose Rizal and calling it Noli. It is not respectful to the intent of the author or the culture of the people the work hails from. Why don't you just call it fanfictio ? Greek culture and history is real, if you derive from it, then make that reflect on the work. Otherwise, call it something else.
