    2. True.

Nakakahanga humility nya to accept his mistake and apologize.

    1. 1214 napaka judgmental mo nman. Tao din ang pari at nagkakamali. Nagpaliwanag siya at humingi nv paumanhin. Ramdam mo sinsiridad nya. Siguro hindi mo naintindihan yung sinulat nya kase English. Masakit ba ma judge?

    2. i actually admire him for acknowwledging his mistakes and taking the time to ask for kuya kim's forgiveness. mejo na teary eyed nga ako eh. tao lang din naman si father, nagkakamali. but the good thing is, tinanggap nya pagkakamali.

Yes minsan di ako sang-ayon sa POV nya but most if the time na I-enlighten ako.

    1. You shouldn’t really be using it unless you’re clinically diagnosed

    2. 1:28 depression can mean feeling of extreme sadness or can also mean a clinical diagnosis so dont correct people saying they feel depressed coz that's their feelings not urs. Also, not everyone has access to medical care to be clinically diagnosed.

    3. the word depression was already existing before clinical depression was ever introduced to the vocabulary of mankind

    4. 11:03 I agree. The priest was referring to the feeling of discontent, of being sad, of feeling helpless - not clinical depression. We use the word depressed in daily life to describe that state. Kim A was just trigerred because of his loss. Yet, he cannot police or stop people from using the word . He does not have ownership over it.

  4. TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. sometimes we just needed to be reminded how blessed we are despite what we're going thru. Count your blessings ika-nga.

I agree, no one should have to burry their child. But saying "na depress" could mean so many things. We use it daily with so much meaning other than clinical depression. Minsan we use it for things like "na depress talaga ako, i lost my glasses ang mahal pa naman". And a friend would try to comfort by saying "depress ka dyan, glasses lang yan". It isn't diminishing or invalidate how you feel but for the most part, it's to try to comfort and encourage. We aren't all gifted with words to articulate to try and make our friends feel better. Good intent, sloppy execution.

I guess my point is, sana we avoid overreacting to everything. I think this priest means well.

    1. This is the problem, you only use the word depression or depressed if you’re actually clinically diagnosed. People are using it to replace the word sadness for intensification.

    3. Sa pagka alam ko ang word na depression sa English language ay nauna pa when medicine officially came up with the word “clinical depression”. In the ancient times di naman depression Ang tawag sa condition na yan. They called it melancholia.

    5. He meant well. And Im glad he acknowledged na may nasaktan sa sinsbi nya. He wants to uplift daw and not the other way around. He is a good priest. I watch him often

    6. I agree. Taken out of context and Kim A has been trigerred.

  5. I’ve subscribed to this priest 3yrs ago when my mom had a stroke and couldn’t go to Mass. Now she watches his Mass every f***king day, kabisado ko na boses nito. He’s good naman, but he’s a Baby Boomer soul trapped in a Millenial’s body. He always talks common sense, of being proactive, being humble, of not feeling sorry for yourself, being pious, being true to one’s self, of not being lazy and inactive, and not having the ‘victim’ mentality. In short, Boomer strength and endurance.

Most of his sermons I agree with, being Gen X myself, except one or two topics. He does take Mental Health lightly, like it was a choice, like laziness. Not like a dangerous sickness that requires other people to help and step in. And LGBT issues (him having a sister who experimented), but of course, sinong clergy would be openly promoting it. He does avoid talking about it, and avoids talking about the Government (safe). He prioritizes OFWs over suffering locals, and sometimes you question where his Youtube revenue goes and why does he allow ads in the middle of Mass. But mostly I like his common and street sense, like your classic Lola slapping you out of a lazy mood and shoving you out the door to live a good, industrious life. Not for Gen Y or Gen Z though. Glad he’s humble enough to apologize, hopefully his sermons tweak in the coming days.

    1. Bilang OFW, I take strength from his sermons. I find it comforting that a priest thinks of us na nasa ibang bansa. There's millions of OFWs who also wish to attend mass and be part of a community. I am thankful na ginawa niyang misyon ito. As for his donations, I know may foundation sola at marami silang pinapag aral. You are correct, he is largely conservative but this is based on his faith. I like him, he brings comfort.

  6. I admire Father for admitting his mistake and acknowledging the feelings of other people. I felt his sincerity.

May isang pari sabi malaking tulong daw ang namatay na loved one kasi they are watching over us.

    1. Because it is not doctrine, not dogma, not written as law in Scripture. The sermon is an address, a speech, an explanation. Advice. A guide from a guide. It is not law, and it's up to you if you follow it or not, a priest is not a law enforcer. And even so, a priest is just a servant, a person with experience, a sinner, maybe mas sablay pa sa yo. Just more religiously, spiritually, academically trained and experienced in the structure of the Catholic Religion than a regular person. Here is where free will, free worship, free expression, free questioning, free belief enters. The Catholic religion is NOT A CULT that you must absolutely obey without question.

    2. You dont really know your faith then. Yung tiping understanding the bible based on the background of who wrote the chapter, place, time and original language it was written, at para kanino inadress ito during that time.

    4. 3:20 eh ikaw tama nman ba relihiyon o kultong sinamahan mo? Hindi nga tama sinalihan nyo to begin with

  12. I attend his masses all the time. Fr. Jowel's words were taken out of context. I have cancer and his hokilies bring me closer to God.

He mesnt being discontent. Its such a small matter. I like that he is humble enough to acknowledge it.

  13. Dati kasi common na ginagamit ang word na nadepress in general, pag nalulungkot or nawawalan ng pag-asa. Nakasanayan na ba. Well, iba na talaga ngayon.

  14. “Depress” means to press down, make someone feel sad, or lower the value of something. Taken out of context lang siguro yung sinabi ni father. Or wrong choice of word. At least na-realize and inacknowledge naman yung mali so all’s well na. Wag na palakihin.
