TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. sometimes we just needed to be reminded how blessed we are despite what we're going thru. Count your blessings ika-nga.
I underdtand kung na trigger si kuya kim. I agree, no one should have to burry their child. But saying "na depress" could mean so many things. We use it daily with so much meaning other than clinical depression. Minsan we use it for things like "na depress talaga ako, i lost my glasses ang mahal pa naman". And a friend would try to comfort by saying "depress ka dyan, glasses lang yan". It isn't diminishing or invalidate how you feel but for the most part, it's to try to comfort and encourage. We aren't all gifted with words to articulate to try and make our friends feel better. Good intent, sloppy execution.
I guess my point is, sana we avoid overreacting to everything. I think this priest means well.
This is the problem, you only use the word depression or depressed if you’re actually clinically diagnosed. People are using it to replace the word sadness for intensification.

DeleteTrue. Kala kasi ng iba pwede mo i-switch off pag sinabihan ka ng ‘cheer up!’
DeleteTurn off sa priests like him na fame hungry sa social media.
ReplyDeleteAng hirap nadin gamitin ang word na "depress" kasi maraming magreact
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn’t really be using it unless you’re clinically diagnosed
