True Rich

Years ago, Business Heir (BH) tried to live away from a now famous last name. BH made a name by writing for a famous newspaper. She was witty and smart. Her writings ensured an audience waiting for her weekly columns to appear. However, the corporate world was loud and she soon took an active role in the family conglomerate.

Years later, the family assets were distributed to family members, who had clear roles to play in making the empire grow. Still, BH remained humble and maintained her sense of humor. One time, she poked fun on the company myth that was associated with her and the business.

In one instance, BH was in the airport and she fell in line like an ordinary person. She was simply dressed in jeans and white top. Her garb did not call attention, nor did she hide behind dark glasses. She did not have an entourage guarding her. As she approached the immigration, she simply answered the questions of the officer without any fanfare. The officer had no clue at all that in front of him was one the country’s powerful women.

As BH walked away, the supervisor approached the officer. Only then was the officer informed who BH was. The officer could not help thinking of the many personalities who carried themselves with so much air and pride, silently demanding special treatment. The true rich carried herself with humility.
