    1. Aminan: I was kinda disappointed when the line up last yr ay puro indie but I tried to watch. First, I watched Babae Sa Septic, trying to make myself laugh in the Christmas Season. Di ako masyadong natawa and there's no story on the film. Meron pero nakakalito. I tried to watch another baka sakali makatsamba ako ng maganda, so I tried Saving Sally. The effects were good, but story wise, its dragging and I'm not that amused. So I really wanted to give up kasi sayang yung pera ko. I was used to the usual line up where its a family movie/something I can laugh about/something that would teach me life lessons. So I agreed about the indie films.

Oh and btw, Die Beautiful lang yung nakapagpatawa, nakapagpaiyak and taught me some life lesson nung MMFF entry. Infair, sana ganun yung mga indie na pinasok last year. Kahit indie, may kwentong naiintindihan.
      - Yes, I'm just a normal person who's bot an Art major.

    2. Why are indie films branded as better than mainstream films? I've seen indie films that were REALLY bad. A good movie is a good movie, kesehodang indie sya or mainstream. Films should not just educate, they should entertain.

    3. 8:31 - IN THE US AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD, THERE ARE MORE MAINSTREAM FILMS THAT ARE QUALITY THAN THERE ARE INDIE. SA ATIN KASI KARAMIHAN SA MAINSTREAM AY BASURA.

  2. Star Cinema, Regal, etc. found their comfort zone and it works for them. So they don't want to take risks anymore. That's they keep giving us the same things over and over again.

    2. Ang SC mejo ok ok pa eh, ang Regal and Viva magaganda ang quality ng films nila up to early 90's, until nakipag kumpitensiya sa OctoArts, Mzet na puro commercialized na at lumamon sa sistema ng pinoy...

Pare-pareho lang silang may merits and shortcomings. Oo, kumita sila in past editions of the fest, pero hanggang doon na lang ba tayo? Wala na ba tayong pwedeng ioffer? How can we expect the Filipino audience to grow kung ganito na lang lagi? Kumbaga sa school, forever tayong nasa Grade 1.

    3. ANG PROBLEMA KASI MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE WHO GO WATCH THESE FILMS ARE NOT MEDIA-EDUCATED.

  5. I agree with Liza. Film-making is a business as much as it is an art.

    1. But you have to agree that these "commercialized" films are the ones that kept the industry alive.

  7. O ngayon, naisip nya yan? Di naman pala kaya panindigan? Change scamming?

  8. so walang movie ang umabot ng 200M mark last year? kailangan nga talaga ng komersiyal na pelikula.

  9. para sa ekonomiya! lol

  10. Who is to blame ba talaga? The moviegoers or the producers? MMFF 2015, 1 billion plus revenues - mostly trash films. MMFF 2016 - 400k revenue, quality films.... Tanging Yaman, Syo Lamang, Jose Rizal, Himala - MMFF films na quality and box office hits.

  11. I would resign too if i was involved.

  12. Hey Liza, can you please stop pulling our legs? You are choosing to stay because you have nothing else to do.

  14. Most sa tao gusto kumita dahil may pangangailangan.

  15. Kayong mga indie ano ba gusto nyo puri o pera?. Bakit kayo nagpupumilit. Nang iistress kayo ng mga tao. Kayo pa galit.

  16. I like what she said, buti pa sha ganyan mag isip

  17. Movie producers are businessman. MMFF movies are meant for family.

    1. ..at the expense of insulting our intelligence as filipinos?

..pwedeng commercialized pero may katuturan or atleast pulido ang gawa. di kailangan high budgeted pero naman kung puro gatas, hotdog, coffee, lotion at pati pang tanggal ng kulugo ang product placements na parang tv commercial ang movie or di kaya same old formula ng movie..eh ano na...sabi nga ng isang comment..forever at kuntento nalang ba tayo sa pagiging grade 1 sa taste ng pelikula or minsan umakyat naman tayo sa junior high

    2. "MMFF MOVIES ARE MEANT FOR FAMILY"? OHEMEGED! E DI DAPAT METRO MANILA FAMILY FESTIVAL ANG TAWAG, DI BA?

  19. Sabi na nga ba't ningas-kugon lang iyong last year. Puro salita lang pala in the end. Sabagay, talk is cheap.
