Making Every Penny Count

Generosity is one major trait that the local entertainment industry takes pride in, and several celebrities have been praised for their kind-heartedness and innate to help without discriminating based on status. While most celebrities would rather do these acts anonymously, kind deeds have a way of revealing themselves.

In the same light, a tightwad is frowned upon. Despite making millions via projects and endorsements, certain celebrities have built a reputation of holding on to their money tightly even during Christmas and birthdays, which are supposed to be moments of generosity. Usually, press people are the ones who suffer from the lack of thoughtfulness coming from such celebrities. On one hand, some celebrities take time to write personalized messages on their gifts to their favorite reporters. On the other hand, other celebrities do not care at all for gift giving and even just allow the season to pass without even sending a good wish to the people who helped them in their career.

One of the most effective strategies employed by frugal celebrities is going on vacation during the yuletide. A popular story that is being told is the one involving Female Talent (FT), who would rather spend time detoxifying herself in a remote area rather than spend time with family. Being away means, she could not be contacted, and no one could surprise her at home for some merriment during Christmas.

In another instance, a Former Couple (FC) would always be out of town during the holidays. Thus, no carolers could come into their home to sing and solicit funds. Moreover, being away spares them from having to give gifts to friends, family, and even neighbors. Asking FC to help out in raising funds seemed like talking to a wall.

Years later, FC broke up and are now with different partners. While their friends expected FC to change their ways, they were wrong. Individually, the former partners, who are often praised for their talent, continued to be misers and generosity was an alien word for them. Despite the millions they have earned, their hearts have no room for sharing even with the closest people around them.

‘A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.’― Steve Maraboli

  6. This is just my opinion ha. It's their money. Why should we demand that they give gifts? Has the Holidays been reduced to mere commercialism & consumerism?

  11. Why do other people feel entitled to receive gifts? If it's not your hard earned money you do not have a say on how others spend them. Parang sinasabi niyo na wala silang right to go abroad because that money they spent should be alloted to hangers on and the press gifts. The nerve to show up for caroling to extort money from celebrities.

  12. Prerogative naman nila kung mamimigay sila or hindi. Yung iba rin naman kasi mapagsamantala. Pag di kalakihan ang binigay, mahuhusgahan ka pa. Di naman pinupulot ang pera.
