With networks and talent managers conscious of reactions of fans and various sectors, talents are often warned to behave in public and avoid getting into trouble that could affect their reputation. For example, if a talent is being built as a wholesome personality, then he or she should not be seen indulging in alcohol, smoking, and partying until wee hours of the morning. Worse, such talents should not be engaged in brawls or any altercations that could show their negative character.
Whereas managers and fans may be understanding, sponsors or endorsements could just drop troublesome celebrities, as their bad reputation could harm the sales of products they are endorsing. For some customers, the image of the endorser influences their decision to purchase a particular product.
Unfortunately, while most celebrities tend to follow blindly the advice of their management to stick to their image on and off camera, other talents will show their natural selves even if such personalities do not conform to expectation. For instance, Pretty Face (PF) was presented with plans for several projects in the network. After all, casting PF in certain projects could add to the variety of shows in the network and possibly become a way to attract the more mature audiences and even male viewers.
Just as plans were being ironed out, top executives called the production team and reprimanded them for casting PF. The executives feel that PF has a negative reputation that might affect the ratings of her projects. Hence, the risk of investment might be too great once the project gets going. Given that the lifeblood of a series is the number of sponsors, PF might not have enough clout to make the management confident that advertisers will buy spots in her project.
Moreover, some talents of the network are also wary in sharing scenes with PF. They fear the number of takes needed for PF to get the required acting done right. For veteran actors and actresses who are relegated to supporting cast, working with talents like PF could sometimes be a test of patience, and sometimes, they feel like giving on the spot acting workshops just so scenes could be done right.
Sadly, PF is oblivious to such feedback, as she would rather express herself the way she wants to do so. Being real is something that PF wants to stress, even if, at times, such attitude could lead to lack of projects.
