    1. Oh my gosh get a grip!!! This is completely not related to Jackie. How dare we gloat on the fall of others when you don't even know the whole story?!

    2. I guess you can say that. God really works in mysterious ways. Although nobody knows kung ano talaga ang nangyayari behind all this media circus.

      Delete
    3. 6:23 of course related! masyadong mataas sa mother niya! yan ang resulta!

      Delete
    4. Wala tayo sa posisyon para sisihin siya kung bakit his mom is not forgiven yet 12:08 afterall hindi naman ikaw ang iniwan kundi si Kobe kaya madali sayo ang magsalita ng ganyan

      Delete
    5. Maybe this the time that Jackie should ask people not to bash her son but pray for him.. But of course, MIA, missing in action... Waley...

    1. Which is not to UCLAs fault. Seems to me that there is more to this stoey than meets the eye.

Anyway, Kobe should jist move forward and find another school. If magaling talaga si Kobe, basketball talent scouts will still get him no matter where the he goes to school from this moment on.

      Delete
    2. May damage din hanash mo. Pwede mopa isauli yan.

      Delete
    3. It's definitely UCLA's fault.... They could have withdrawn their offer in spring or even before he graduated but waiting on the 11th hour to rescind their offer that's not acceptable. Asians tend to get discriminated in UC schools because of its high number of eligible applicants. I don't think they would have done this if Kobe was black or Latino.

    2. 2.14 stop calling him bata. He is of legal age na.

      Delete
    3. Karma for what? Dahil ba tinataboy niya mom niya?

    6. Hypocrite ka din eh. I hate people who use the Bible para i prove lang na tama sila.

We HAVE NO RIGHT to judge someone esp kung HINDI NATIN SILA KILALA PERSONALLY. It's their life, it's their family. I'm no fan or family member of Jackie or the Paras family pero grabe kayo.

"He who has not sinned should cast the first stone."

Yes Anon, God does SEE OUR HEARTS.

    7. Ate, baka BLESSING IN DISGUISE to para kay Kobe. And you know what happens to people who were rejected? THEY SUCCEED.

It seems to me that you were judging someone so harshly. Don't be self-righteous.

    9. My parents thought me na all the parents in the world should'nt have the mindset na dahil magulang sila they have all the right to be forgiven and be treated well when they get older kahit at the very first place iba sa kanila naging pabaya sa anak nila. You reap what you sow ika nga, kung minahal mo daw ang mga anak mo hanggang sa paglaki nila mamahalin ka rin nila hanggang sa pagtanda mo pero kung iniwan mo naman mga anak mo and you didnt fulfill your duty as a parent dont expect daw na iba ang trato ng mga anak mo sa kung ano ang ipinakita mo sa kanila.Stop including the bible here.Iba iba ang cases ng lahat ng tao sa mundo so dont expect others to act the same way as you do.

    3. Nakakagay sa letter pasado sya sa SAT? What's the real reason?

      Delete
    4. Even if you get decent scores in the SAT 7:42, different schools have certain score (unpublished) requirements. Some are higher than others.

Many other good D1 schools interested in him. He will be ok.

      Delete
    5. Nakapasa siya sa SAT but his score is 1750. UCLA requires an SAT score of 2000 plus. He can easily be accepted at different universities.

  8. Push mo pa sige lang. You are not a loss for UCLA.

      Delete
    2. 1:38, or baka it's a character thing. Didn't it cross ypur mond na UCLA might have researched on Kobe and learned of the many negative issues hpunding his image?

      Delete
    3. 1:38 basa-basa rin kapag may time. Admissions department ang nagdeny hindi athletic department. Academically Qualified sya sa division 1 schools pero not necessarily sa UCLA, w/c has above average requirements.

      Delete
    4. 1:38 agree.

      Delete
    5. Puede naman siya sa Cslifornia State University system mag enroll and play sa NCAA. Hindi kasi ng taas ng standard like the UC system such as UCLA, UC Berkeley and UC San Diego.

    1. In what way?

University admissions has limits. And if they received double or triple their college capacity, Naturalmente they will reject a lot of students kapag overlimit, even if all of them are qualified.

      Delete
    2. I think there is racial discrimination

      Delete
    3. Nope. Maraming Indians and asians sa UCLA. Wag kang pasimuno Anon 12:19

      Delete
    4. 2:19 majority of UCLA students are asians.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, must be racial discrimination. The explanation was so vague. Move on...

      Delete
Kaya mahirap talaga makapasok jan

      Delete
    7. 2:19 and 4:39 LOL. How judgmental. Nireject lang, racist agad? What's your basis? Para ka naring racist e, stereotyping Westerners or Caucasians as racist to Asians.

      Delete
    8. It is not racial discrimination. Majority of UCLA's students are asians. It is only called "University of Caucasians Lost among Asians".

      Delete
    9. True@1:34 pm. My niece is currently studying at UCLA and Filipina s'ya.

      Delete
    3. May rule ang NBA na "one and done" meaning kailangan niya mag 1 year college or 1 year mag laro ng pro outside US. Kaya hindi siya pwede straight sa nba.

      Delete
  13. For whatever reasons, be humble, get up sort your college life and career in another school and prove to everyone your capabilities so that someday you can say to UCLA, "youve made the wrong decision UCLA!" Start with

      Delete
    3. baka nga mataas pero marami rin silang applicants na mataas din ang GPA kaya merong SAT score which is a more standardized measure of scholastic ability.

      Delete
    4. Kobe's SAT is 1750, relatively a decent score but not good enough for the top US universities. UCLA's average freshman SAT score is 2064.

  16. feeling ko nga sabotage... kakauso lang nung meme saying na pinoys can't wait for Kobe to be an NBA draftee. his name will be called and Philippines will be mentioned. something to that effect. siguro nakita ng UCLA at feeling nila super assuming ng fans... sad

  26. Must be his social media posts about his relationship with his mother. US university admissions look into the characters ng mga inaadmit nila.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nope. There were just better students than him who are more deserving. Unfortunately UCLA cannot accept all applicants.

      Delete

Baka nga may applicants lang talaga na who performed better than him academically. Kaya ganun siguro. They go through thousands of applications eh.

      Delete
    3. Lol maraming basketball players like black peeps came from a broken home pero its their perseverance which truly mattered.Stop including their own private life as a reason kasi kung yan man ang dahilan edi sana since last year pa na out nayang si Kobe sa time na naging public ang issue niya with his mom

      Delete
  27. It's an old story---boy is crushed after the school of his dreams rejects his application. There's a lesson in this. Reality bites. Kobe doesn't have to feel he let down anybody. Continue to pursue his dream. If he continues to let this bump
affect his life, then he won't to be an inspiration to others anymore. He's too young and too talented to quit.

  30. I have read somewhere that his SAT score was 1750 (an above-average score among all test takers). While the average for UCLA freshmen is over 2000. This may be the reason as to why he was denied.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It will be blessing in diaguise for Kobe i think.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tama ba yun?

    ReplyDelete

    1. UCLA receives over a hundred thousand application each year. They just give a set of requirements like SAT scores you have to meet at kapag kapos ka denied ka. Wala ng explanation.

      Delete
    2. Ganyan talaga , admissions department does not provide an explanation. That's normal

      Delete
  33. UCLA is not even one of the top 25 NCAA universities. He can always apply for other universities such us MSU, U OF M, Miami, University of Kentucky and etc. Definitely not the end of world for this very promising chap.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kobe will make it to the NBA because he worked for it and he has talent. He's a good guy and a good son to the parents that raised him. Sabi nga nung mga nasa taas, God sees everything. Blessing in disguise lang ito.

    ReplyDelete
  35. That's why I doubted that the reason was academic. Kobe is very intelligent. Am not stereotyping Filipinos or Asians, but Pinoys, Chinese, Koreans and Indians studying abroad have consistently shown strong discipline in academics. And besides, he would have not been invited to that high school if he didn't meet the academic requirements and standard.

Gosh. If I were Kobe I would do the same if my very own mother neglected me when I was a kid and eventually left me. Forgiveness takes time. I think Benjie raised a good kid in Kobe. The boy is not into drugs, not a womanizer, an inspiration to basketball hopefuls. I don't see him bragging his achievements on social media. This UCLA thing maybe one downfall for him but his talents will surely take hime to a better university.

    3. Same thoughts tayo.Totoo naman kasi what do people expect? Na for Kobe to just easily forgive his mother kahit labag sa kalooban niya para lang magustuhan siya ng ibang tao? I know people who were abandoned by either their mom/dad and kahit ngayon its still very hard for them to forgive them. And ikaw 1:57,correction its "bottomline with an O okay? And please lang, dont give excuses like "kung wala nanay niya, wala rin siya chu chu" kasi excuse lang yan ng mga taong nang iwan para patawarin sila. Why dont you try putting yourself in the place of Kobe? Then siguro mas maiintindihan mo yung tao kesa sa husga ka ng husga diyan

Tingin niyo si Jackie lang ang nag suffer? Lahat ng mga bata walang inaasam kundi makasama ang kanilang mga nanay pero siya wala manlang mom niya sa tabi niya and you think ginusto niya yon? If it took Jackie years to come back to her senses then it will probably take years din for her children to whole-heartedly forgive her.

  40. Okay first of, SAT should never be an issue here. WALANG BUMABAGSAK SA SAT! and I know a couple of student who got approx 1400 on their SAT and nakapasok pa rin. Base sa rumors sa school, UCLA didnt like the idea that Kobe transferred to middle brooks sa last season niya. Since its a prep school and considered na mas mababa sa cathedral. Sabi nila, na yung pagttransfer niya just shows na he cant balance his academics and basketball at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ultimately, this is an issue about academics. He might have satisfied NCAA academic eligibility (which seems to be bare minimums to accommodate as many low-achieving athletes). The problem is that UCLA Admissions did not think he was worthy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. He needs to go attend another school. UCLA is not even known for their basketball. You have universities like Duke and University of Kentucky where a lot of basketball stars come from. Those are just some. With that said, I just don't see Kobe making it in the NBA. Maybe the D-league or international play...just not the NBA. You gotta have the it-factor on top of talent and discipline. Not everyone has that. Even some sons of big bball legends don't make it into the NBA.
