  1. Oh well, sad reality, the masses are still into loveteam romcoms and cliché-ridden comedies... #SadTruth 😔

    1. there's nothing wrong with that. the viewing public wants light, fun, easy-going films, and films with simple concepts do not necessarily mean they are mediocre. most filipino films are good films whether light or serious. i wonder why some think otherwise just because a film's subject matter is more serious than some.

    5. I watch indie movies pero sa dvds lng. Sa totoo lng i want to be entertained like ung babae sa septic tank. And it's not my fault that i want to use my hard earned money para manood ng gusto ko. Stop judging, stop being preachy, and stop acting all high and mighty and deep just because you prefer to watch a serious movie compared to light, fun , romantic comedy, which makes me happy. If watching this movie will make you happy, then go watch.

  2. Sorry to say pero hindi lahat madadala ng best actress award even if it's from Cannes. May mga tao talaga na mas feel ang low quality or should I say cheap movies for different reasons.

    2. If I were there talagang panonoorin ko yan. Pero the truth is some movie goers do not like to see the painful truth and reality of the common tao's daily life and sufferings.

    3. 12:56 Sadly i am one of those you speak of. My life is already riddled with problems so when I have time and money to watch movies i pick that will uplift my spirit and mood.

  8. I think people would had been more supportive if diva Andi didn't put off a lot of moviegoers with her mad rantings on social media. She did brag that she doesnt make movies for the money. Now people are calling her bluff and actually shying away from the film hahaha.

    ReplyDelete

  10. This is the kind of movie that needs to be watched and supported and not the love team movies which are trashy.

  14. If I'm there, I will watch it. This is the kind of film that should be supported. Moreover, it is so timely.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Naghihintay pa po ng sweldo. Sana kasi it was shown after the 15th or end of the month.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sadly the Philippines Is a hard country to live in and a majority of our moviegoers - from all social classes - Choose to not have to see this reality in movies when it is already all around them. They want to go into a movie theater to escape. Calling them B**o because of this choice isn't fair. It's like getting mad at someone because they like the color red vs blue.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It doesn't matter if it won in Cannes. It also doesn't mean ppl are stupid for wanting to watch movies that are corny, shallow or the typical love team. Ppl want to be amused and get away from the usual day to day hardship. There's so much crap going on there in Pinas that they don't want to waste their hard earned money to watch something so similar to their reality. They want an escape and those other shallower movies bring that to them. You can't blame ppl for wanting to watch something that would make them laugh or kilig. Even the indies here in the US don't make as much as the blockbuster movies. It's all about a person's preference. The director's appeal will fall into deaf ears.

    1. this is so true. i used to enjoy movies na action, horror and heavy drama but now I'm having a hard time convincing myself to watch them na. It suddenly changed after I had quarter life crisis and experienced anxiety for a few months. Parang grabe ako mag absorb ng emotions sa pinapanood ko after that. Kaya sa mga kilig2x muna ako ngayon.

  20. The story revolves on poverty eh bakit panonoorin pa eh alam na natin yan, napapanood ng libre sa tv news and even if you are living under a rock, why will you waste your money watching a depressing film, lahat ng shows mmk, tawag ng tanghalan, soco, lahat lahat ---- isa lang ang take home message --- we are poor

  21. Db maraming shows sa GMA si Ms. Jaclyn? Bakit di nila sinuportahan artista nila?

    1. Hay naku anon 9:23, maski nung umuwi si jaclyn after her win at cannes, wala man lang salubong victory party/presscon na ginawa ang gma. Yun nga lang simpleng salo salo for her win ay nag tulungan ang team at ibang kasamahan niya sa cast ng show niya sa gma. nakakadisappoint talaga ang gma. I watch shows from all the networks depende kung alin at ano ang magandang palabas nila pero nakadisappoint talaga ang gma sa ginawa nila. Palpak na nga sila sa pag build up, system & manner of support, at marketing ng talents nila, pati eto ay palpak nanaman sila eh this win is a first for phil cinema. They could have used this win to their advantage even pero palpak talaga sila. Wala man lang ka strate strategy! Sana magbago na ang gma!

    2. Dahil d po a films un

Haist!

  22. I don't like to watch movies like that. It's enough that i'm aware of the pressing issues our country has. I read news pero to watch pa, it's too much for me. Madali ako ma-depress. My objective in watching movies is to unwind and relax.

    ReplyDelete

  25. Brilliante Mendoza's movie checklist : poverty - checked, drugs - checked, wanton killings - checked, prison - checked, gratuitous nudity - checked na checked.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We need not to high and mighty, and degrade the other moviegoing public when they don't watch films like this. Not all moviegoers are in it for the social relevance of what they watch. Most watch movies to entertain themselves, to unwind, and appreciate the visuals and production values of the films. Just respect each other's choices.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Correct anon 4:52. I agree. Just because a person doesn't appreciate this type of movie doesn't mean he/she is shallow . Wag pa deep Pwede?

      Delete

Nasa history pa nga ng pelikula na nagadjust yung mga producers to give the audience something they would want to watch, something they can relate to and something that the producers would profit from. Lahat ay free will.

Walang pagbabago at walang progress. Same old same old formula. Mas madali kasi .

    ReplyDelete
  31. Please be willing to get out of your cinematic comfort zones once in awhile. You really shouldn't have to be on top of Maslow's hierarchy of needs to do that!

    ReplyDelete
  32. If we dont support films like ma rosa, how do we encourage people like direk to continue? Producers want money. So they fund what people want. meanwhile people are fed with the same dish . So this vicious cycle wont end until a group of people will work hard to try to point out what's wrong. Sadly, these people are not heard. Believe me, a lot of people are complaining but of course, you are not going to hear about it in the media because it is not for the interest of the pockets of some People. So, what we see out there is a skewed representation of the true sentiments of the viewing public.

  33. Very timely nga ang movie na to . Dapat nga pinapanood.
