Director: Jason Laxamana
MTRCB Rating: G
The movie centers its story on the beauty-challenged Fe/Felicity ( Kiray ), an NBZB or ‘no boyfriend since birth' girl.
Fe's predicament is not her choice, obviously, for she wants to love and be loved in return - desperately.
Then she meets Wade (Derek), and Fe's life is never the same again. She wants Wade so bad and will do everything to have him. Yari (Kian), Fe’s colleague who interestingly is into love potion business comes to the rescue. Together, the two become partners in crime, concocting all sorts of potions with one goal in mind – to get Wade for Fe, at all costs!
Meanwhile, Wade has personal issues of his own, too. A beauty and glamor- obssesse career guy, he is dissatisfied with his girlfriend Maggie (Solenn), who, although pretty, is too plain for his taste. She would not be a hot, trophy girlfriend he wants her to be. Add to that is Wade's father’s insistence that he takes up the cudgels and look after their farming and agriculture business, something that classy Wade detests so much.
Meanwhile, Yari’s love potions which Fe paid a fortune for start to take effect on Wade as he sees her very pretty and looking like the love of his life. Fe or Felicity as Wade loves to call her, naturally grabs the sudden manna from heaven. She not only wants to have Wade come into her life and reciprocate her feelings, but more! Did she succeed?
Well, the movie succeeds in its goal to elicit laughter, for indeed, the viewers are treated to a gamut of funny human emotion, to a kind of comedy that doesn't make fun of LGBT’s this time… at least that is refreshing.
The young director Jason Laxamana also succeeds in bringing out the best in Kiray’s generally OA brand of comedy, for she did deliver, to be fair. Ditto with ex-couple Derek and Solenn who apart from being 'delicious' to watch, are a natural, with hardly any awkwardness in their intimate scenes together. Now, that is a treat.
But the twists in the story will also make you think on how a supposedly middle-aged guy like Wade can be so unbelievably shallow in his choices and decisions in life, much like a confused fresh college graduate yet to prove his worth. Oh well…
In the end, how the protagonists will deal with their issues and the truth in between will take both predictable and surprising turns.
As a whole, with all the stress gripping us everyday, Love Is Blind is still well worth your time and popcorn.
Wow, FP! May movie review na ang Fashion Pulis! Bongga!!
Delete2:41 is just plain mean.
DeleteNung napanuod ko ung trailer nito mukang maganda!
ReplyDeleteD ko alam bakit hndi nalang dn ginawanh Shallow Hal title ng movie na to e, gayang-gaya rn naman ang plot.
ReplyDeleteAng shallow mo hal
DeleteIf you've watched Shallow Hal, then you'd know that they're different. The attack is different, the approach is different.
DeleteIt could be inspired by Shallow Hal, but it is by no means a copy.
This produced by Regal
Nagpapakatotoo sya, maganda yun kaso kaumay pakinggan.
ReplyDeleteObviously "inspired " by Shallow Hal.
ReplyDeletekung gusto mo lang maglibang, go. pero kung naghahanap ka ng story, wala yun dito. wala man lang hugot quotes or memorable lines, or something na tatatak sa viewers after watching.
ReplyDeleteI like Solenn!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree its a local version of shallow hal
ReplyDeleteSolenn is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this review. Pls make this a regular segment of your blog Fp.
In the end, meron naman pala magmamahal sa kanya in the person of Kean, oh di ba?
DeleteHello. Magkaibang pelikula ba pinanood natin. Ung huling scene sina Derek at Solenn naghabulan. Parang sabit lang si Kiray. Akala ko kuwento eto ni Kiray.
DeleteExcuse me, bulag ka ba or nakatulogan mo ang eksena ni Kian at Kiray na nagyakapan sa kalye to express their feelings that they're the ones that are meant after all.
DeleteI enjoyed watching the movie! Ok yung effort ni Solenn to copy Kiray and obviously, Kiray gave her best din dito.
ReplyDeleteOk rin na si Kean ang kinuha na Yari but honestly, naweirduhan ako sa lampungan scene nina Derek at Kiray sa beach lol Wade's character bagay din sana for Dennis or Paulo though Derek did well.
