Patient Search for Her Loveteam

With the onset of loveteams as a strategy to gain followers, and thus, strengthen the position of a talent, the ideal partner is crucial. Some talents are lucky that chemistry is immediately sparked the moment they are seen together. However, for most talents, finding the right partner takes several trials and errors.

The essence of a loveteam is the feeling the partners give to their followers. If fans feel a certain sensation or happiness whenever they see the reel partner, then the partnership is effective. This observation is proven by loveteams that have lasted for years, such that regardless of personal circumstances, these couples will always make their fans feel special when they appear together in a movie or a teleserye. Successful partnerships equal revenue, given success at the box-office and numerous endorsements. The drawback is that the partners lose their individual identity and are limited to their partner. Once a partner decides to cut loose from the partnership, the risk of a dying career is inevitable.

There are two tragedies when it comes to loveteams. First, the lack of identity and limitation of roles could hinder the unleashing of the full potential of the talents. Second, the fans are highly influential and reactive once they are unhappy with the loveteam and competition. Netizens, who mostly lock their accounts, have a field day bashing people involved in the careers of the loveteams.

Still, another issue is that of having too many possible partners, which could result in dividing fans into factions instead of encouraging a united front. For instance, when Haughty Talent (HT) started out, the management tried the loveteam formula in her career. Unfortunately, the actors who were paired with her could not ignite the spark they needed, and ironically, after being paired with HT, they found successful partners in other female leads.

As the career of HT moves on, the path towards the search for her partner has grown into a confusing pool of potential leading men. This situation has resulted in a bit of misunderstanding among fans. First, HT is being paired with Good-Looking Versatile Boy (GV), and from the looks of it, the network is bent on promoting HT and GV. So far, fans have been receptive, but still, the spark is not that great. Then, here comes Tall Actor (TA), who has professed his fondness for HT. Being older and more experienced, HT would look like his little sister and fans will not be enticed with their age difference. However, the one that has caused so much alleged trouble is the one with Suave Hunk (SH), whose fans will go all out to protect him from HT, as they want another talent solely for SH.

Given the scenario, fans of HT are at a loss as to which loveteam they should fully support. While the network is bent on giving HT a love interest, it seems that HT could be better off with no regular screen partner, as, with all things equal, she could carry out her own scenes. Nonetheless, in a system that believes in loveteams, the management will continue to pursue finding the right one for HT. Should it be HT–GV, HT–TA, or HT–SH? Time will only tell.
