I think some people were exaggerated sa reactions but if you accept the job - do it well or at least prepare. It seems like she wasn't or she thought her ganda or pa cute would be enough.
Never take a job that you can not do properly. Know your limitations. As a good friend you should be able to tell her with honesty. A lousy half as:Ed job is a lousy half as:Ed job , there is no other way to call it. The fact that she took the job,her self belief must be greater than her actual lack of talent. So criticism is a not a surprise but is a given. She should give showbiz a rest. She does not have it at all. Nobody is bashing her dear, but the audience are entitled to voice their opinion as being given such crap is totally insulting. Being prepared and having the skills shows respect to the audience.
Hosting is an entirely different profession compared to acting. We do write reports in English and do our presentations in English during board meetings. For me, its not about the pronunciation - its about the liveliness of hosting and knowledge about the schools participating. Clearly she didn't prepare - she thought preparing meant reading her cue cards like what they do on ASAP when hosting an event seen by 25 thousand people requires you are able to adlib, think on your feet and go with the flow. I blame her or whoever handles her - either she wasn't briefed properly or she thought she could just look pretty, read the cards and get away with it. People DO expect more.

ReplyDeleteNever take a job that you can not do properly. Know your limitations. As a good friend you should be able to tell her with honesty. A lousy half as:Ed job is a lousy half as:Ed job , there is no other way to call it. The fact that she took the job,her self belief must be greater than her actual lack of talent. So criticism is a not a surprise but is a given. She should give showbiz a rest. She does not have it at all. Nobody is bashing her dear, but the audience are entitled to voice their opinion as being given such crap is totally insulting. Being prepared and having the skills shows respect to the audience.

Perhaps hosting isn't her forte (judging by your plethora of grammarical errors, perhaps I should explain that forte is defined as a skill in which one excels in) but acting is. What is the correlation between both professions that prompted you to claim she needed to leave showbiz? I'd love to see you host, dear. Particularly in America in which your elitist attitude regarding your own English skills will cause you to be mugged and laughed at.

Para na ring may isang empleyado na pinuna ng boss niya tapos sasabihin niya sa boss niya "Ikaw na lang kaya gumawa". Bakit?! Kaya nga babayaran ka for that kasi worth it dapat yun. Siya dapat magaling dun. Pag di nila ginawa ng maayos, then may ibang puedeng gumawa. Kaya nga your job should be what you love and what you're good at. DeleteFor me, its not about the pronunciation - its about the liveliness of hosting and knowledge about the schools participating. Clearly she didn't prepare - she thought preparing meant reading her cue cards like what they do on ASAP when hosting an event seen by 25 thousand people requires you are able to adlib, think on your feet and go with the flow. I blame her or whoever handles her - either she wasn't briefed properly or she thought she could just look pretty, read the cards and get away with it. People DO expect more.
