  1. Yes, this is your account, you can post anything you want. But you are a public figure as well, with many followers - with different religions- most are Catholic, probably. So posting those verses are just untimely, just insensitive. As they say, think before you click, diba? Respect lang.

    2. If u are offended sa post ni lara that means hindi mo nauunawaan ang verses. How is posting a bible verse being insensitive?? Wow.

    3. So you mean the BIBLE is insensitive?

    7. How is it insensitive? It is from the Bible, so how can it be insensitive to Catholics? Totoo naman yung sinasabi ng verses eh. And in no way did she mention the pope. I dunno why ya'll seem so agitated.

    8. I'm sure you dont read bible! With the way you think and react. Even the pope said that he is not the center of this event but Jesus Christ! Duh! What's wrong with you people?

    9. I don't see anything offensive with her post. It's either you are super sensitive or in between schizo and praning. Hearing voices na wala naman. Natatamaan sa wala naman

    10. If only people would JUST READ THE BIBLE, there will be no division and disagreement. Kaya lang naman me division and disagreement coz people instead of reading it are just believing what their religion interpreted abt it. Wag sanang umasa lang sa mga nakagisnan o narinig o itinuro ng kung anumang present religion niyo, JUST READ IT!

    14. If she just wants to remind herself, why did she have to post in her IG? Sana paulit ulit na lang niya binasa (lumusot pa)...Catholics see the pope as Peter whom Jesus designated as the rock on of his church (nasa Bible yan) and NOT Jesus himself... Napaka literal kasi ang ibang born against, kaya they see this as idolatry but dont they see this also as another way to express one's love for Jesus? Sana she follows Gary V, a non Catholic, who chose to keep an open mind and first focus on the positive impact of the visit rather than come up with messages that could be misinterpreted esp at this time...

    19. To anon 1:09, you have to really read the Bible. When you read though, pray that you will be guided by the Holy Spirit (also believed by Catholics) so that you will not be deceived by your own thinking but rather, be enlightened ng wisdom na galing sa itaas. Nakakabless when we really discover the truth in the Bible :)

You are all too hang-up on the symbolism. Magmmove-on din kayo.

    24. Even if these born againsts deny it, we know what they mean. They see the love that the Catholics give to Pope Francis as pope-worship.

Let us not play blind, many born againsts are posting such verses just so to accuse and ridicule Catholics because in their eyes, we are going against the scriptures when we lavish love and esteem to the Successor of Peter.

In their eyes, they are the only righteous ones who understands the Bible. Many of them believe that it is their duty to rub it their own interpretation of the scriptures on the faces of Catholics and call it as witnessing (See the case of the Baptist pastor Felizardo Abanto and the fundamentalist Paul Christopher Faculin).

It is clear to Catholics that the pope is not God BUT one that comes in the name of God. For Catholics, the Pope is the Vicar of Jesus Christ and Successor to Peter. As such, it is not really new that people would be hold him in high esteem and be attracted to him. During the time of the Apostles, people followed Peter just as they did the Lord Jesus. People even laid their sick on the streets so that the SHADOW of Peter might fall upon them and be healed. (Acts 5:15)

I really find it offensive how some of these Evangelicals refuse to call Roman Catholics as Christians. I noticed how some of them would use small letters in writing the word "Catholic" and use the term Christians exclusively on themselves. I don't know what their intentions are but this shows disrespect for Catholics

Let me just put it straight, Roman Catholics are among the first Christians and not the Protestant Evangelicals. In fact, the Apostle Paul wrote one of his most important letters to the church at Rome. This is included in the New Testament as the Letter to the Romans.

If you read the original Greek of the Acts of the Apostles (9:31) you will even find the words ekklesia kath'oles or "catholic church" which means church throughout or church universal.

“He men oun EKKLESIA KATH’OLES tes Judaias kai Galilaias kai Samarias eixon eirenen oikodomoumenai kai porenomenai to phobo tou Kyriou, kai te paraklesei tou Hagiou Pneumatos eplethunonto.”

This case is not just a harmless quoting of the Bible. Even if we fully agree to the content of the verse, the intention in posting is still very doubtful. Remember that Satan also quoted Bible verses (Matthew 4:1-11) just like how Islamic Fundamentalists quoted Quran verses to justify their evil actions.

    27. "She just reiterated what the Bible said" BUT her intention of posting it is very clear- to malign catholics, and she lied about her intention when people reacted on her "public" post.

By the way, when you post something in public, you mean to share it to whoever could read it (whatever the reason is). When you share it, you expect a reaction from those who read it, so accept the reaction (either negative or positive) wholeheartedly since you asked for it beforehand. Kaya yung sabi niyang "MY PAGE" at "TO REMIND HERSELF", is an hypocrite excuse. Post in public if you want to share and get attention, or post in private if you JUST want to remind yourself.

WITH or WITHOUT the POPE those verses can stand alone. genuine yon totoong totoo, hindi pwedeng questionin. Kung ano man ang intention ng may ari ng IG wala ka na doon, dahil kung totoong Kristiano ka, mga simpleng bagay na ganyan HINDI KA MATATAMAAN. let them practice what they believe and mind your own busines...ang taas taas ng comment mo iisa lang naman ang gusto mong sabihin, ur doubting her post dahil nataon na andito ang Santo Papa. wag ng pansinin ang mga ganyan dahil u are just provoking yourself na mag-isip ng masama na obviously ayaw mangyari ng Santo Papa.

    5. Wow 11 19 born again ka? Know it all ka din sa bible noh?

    6. 11:19 We Catholics know the Bible. In fact is the Catholic Church who first compiled the books of the Bible thru Pope Damasus I at the Council of Rome in AD 382.

It is also the Catholic Church who listed and approved the canon of the scriptures (the Christian Bible as we know it today) at the Synod of Hippo in AD 393 and the Councils of Carthage AD 397 and AD 419.

In essence, the BIBLE IS A CATHOLIC BOOK thus the authority to interpret it resides with the Catholic Church and not with fundamentalists who interpret it the way they want to. The born againts simply have no authority to do this.

Furthermore, just so you know, the Church preceded the Bible. In Filipino, NAUNA ANG SIMBAHAN KESA SA BIBLIA. And according the scriptures, the Church is founded on Peter by Jesus Christ himself. He said, "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matt 16:18)

Christ gave the authority to Peter (the Bishop of Rome) whose successor, and this can be historically traced, is no other than (drum roll please)~ Pope FRANCIS!

Kaya nga generic yung sabi: READ your bible.

    9. We've been tolerating attacks and misinformation from these fundamentalists for a time too long thru their misinterpretations of the scriptures and our gestures. It's but proper to correct this by stating these facts. I'm not fighting anyway.

    10. Dear 10:24 please reread 11:19's comment saying Catholics don't know what the Bible contains.

That comment is generalizing and of course, a lie. God's word is his own but we're saying we know it too because we compiled the books which they in turn use and quote.

    11. If it is her intention is to remind herself, she should have kept it to herself.

Her posting of these make two things clear:
      1. She thinks Catholics think that the Pope is God (clearly we dont)
      2. She is making parinig. It is no different from when you post "inspirational" quotes na may pinatatamaan sya. Apparently people are not as stupid as she thinks as we see through her so she makes this lame excuse that she thinks we will buy.

The Pope Mania represents a thirst for a spiritual leader who will be their guide. A shepherd who will remind them that admist this frustrating world we live in, we can always turn to Christ who never lets us down. That, Ms Quigaman and followers, is what this Pope brouhaha is about. He fulfills the need for spiritual guidance even for a bit. Which is difficult to get from your divisive and arrogant ways. Yes, we see through you.

Maybe she just needs something to jumpstart her career again. Wait, what career?

  28. There is nothing wrong with the verses she posted but in the same way, as most of us know that those verses were the ones always being used by the "Christians" and "Born again" in their evangelization ways and the foundation of their argument in a "religious" conversation. And to post them now when she very well know that the Leader of the Catholic Church is here is somewhat insensitive and ill time. While her IG is her own space, she is a public figure and I think, she has intelligent followers to interpret that in posting those verses the intent was to remind us Catholics that it is not Pope Francis but Jesus Christ that should be the main focus of our attention. It would be hypocritical to say that her acts were made with innocent intention as what she is trying to point out ... for someone with intelligence like her, i'm sorry but i find it hard to believe. Maybe there was really no malice but it's not really that difficult if we practice prudence and sensitivity. We are not here to silence anyone but sometimes, it doesn't hurt to keep one's thought in deep silence some of the time.

    1. This case is not just a harmless quoting of the Bible. Even if we fully agree to the content of the verse, the intention in posting is still very doubtful. 31. I am getting sick and tired of this anti-Catholic rants of so called Christians who trots the Bible and uses the verses and interprets the verses to their advantage. If thy Ms. Lara really knows the meaning of RESPECT then she should have shut the hell up and not post such on her PUBLIC( I assume, I do not follow her) social media account---which shows such insensitivity and pure disrespect to the people who looks up to the Pope as a leader of the Catholic church which by the way is the predominant religion of the country. Catholics do not have any problem with the so called Christians and the likes----no disrespectful stuff posted and such---so why post such when the Pope is here? If you cannot tolerate Catholicism, then STFU.

    3. Hey 2:31AM, did she ever say she's anti-catholic?? or gusto mo talagang yun ang maging interpretation ng posts nya? if she's bashing on catholicism, she wouldn't have said that she "respects the pope and is grateful to him". And why NOT post such? What's exactly WRONG with what this "so called" Christian woman posted? Maybe you're the one who needs to STFU, oh holy one.

      Delete
    4. Nah, she's only saying that she respects and is grateful to the pope as an excuse because of the reaction of people.

  32. So many people blinded by the truth. Funny how far people can go and persecute someone for saying the truth. Walang kaibahan sa sinasabi nilang mali. I am a Born Again Christian, an I personally admire the Pope for two things. 1) He speaks of the truth - truth that is written in the Bible (which we all are commanded to follow) 2) He practice what he preaches.

Nobody has a single right to persecute someone for her beliefs. Catholic are Christians too, di ko alam kung anong pinaglalaban nyo.

I still don't see how her posts implied "insensitivity" and "rudeness" when it speaks nothing but the truth that is also written on the Bible you use.

How you put someone to shame because of their faith would bring you nowhere.

Same thing goes for Lara, criticize her for her act and belief if you wouldn't do the same to express your faith.

    7. The fact that people some are actually offended shows just how little they know of their own religion. Most probably heard some verses from attending mass but never read the bible themselves thus they lack understanding. You're proclaiming to defend your religion which obviously you don't practice.

    8. @5:02 while there is nothing wrong with the verse she quoted, I can't seem to find any reasons why someone should assume that the verses are intended for someone. Not because you posted a verse doesn't mean you are posting it for somebody. Same way with what you call "timing" @ 6:06 - should there be a schedule for posting such? Not everyone hates your doctrines, nor question them, same way na hindi rin lahat naiintindihan ng iba.

And 5:04 I get your point but don't we all make mistakes? Papano mo namang iput down ang isang tao for something she did na inassume lang naman na mali. We all fall short of His holiness, so bakit mo pupukulin ang isang tao dahil lang akala mo may ginagawang mali.

Obviously Lara, may ibig kang sabihin sa post mo,

Palusot ka pa. Yan ang hirap sa mga nagpaconvert sa Ibang religion, mga feeling righteous akala mo mga know-it-all, Catholic was here more than 2000 years ago. For all we know, walang original na fake. Lahat naman ng religion, aminin ninyo, based sa Catholicism, Huwag mong sabihing d ka nagValentines Day which is in honor of St. Valentinus.

That is why I salute Gary V and Angel Locsin, non-Catholics but have so much respect for others unlike those who keep on bashing and judging other people.

Then they'll say you are not yet saved.

Then they will bug you because it's their duty to have you saved.

Then they'll malign your religion and say they are the only ones who are saved until you actually join them.

But of course they will not admit it's a religion.

Your views may be different from hers but where does an anonymous person get the moral authority to lecture or criticize someone else? Anyone who opens a public page shares their thoughts --- but again, the doesn't mean people should take the opportunity to use her own opinions against her.
