I bet you the money Jolly got is not even half of that 48M you are quoting. Remember Derek is super makipot, he and his lawyers would have bartered Jolly down to the lowest number possible.
IMO- he paid, contingent on her withdrawing the criminal cases against him. Excellent strategy from her camp. He should fire his lawyer (or blame himself). He dragged his own name through the mud- this would not have ended with him unscathed and he had to take it to the hilt instead of just settling peacefully early on.
