Letter from a Reader: Why the Disappearances?

Hi FP,

I know you post readers' complaints. I was wondering if you'd be interested in posting mine?

I've had a really bad experience with LocalPost lately. I'm based in Australia and I bought something from an Aussie online store worth around $200 for my friend. I had it sent to the Philippines via EIM. Apparently, it's handled by LocalPost once it arrives in the Philippines.

To make a long story short, first parcel mysteriously disappeared after they claimed the address didn't exist and had it sent back to me. I had a second one sent, now they've sent it back to sender again. We all know what that means. I'm sick and tired of the thieves in the postal services!!

One word for these type of people. Duwag.

  8. agreed with everybody here, do not use local post, hindi reliable.

  12. I use F or U maski medyo mahal, umaabot naman at hindi nawawala.

  13. I stopped using local PO when sending letter or small package. I once sent out a blouse, and my sister said the woman opened the package in front of her and looked at the tag, and said she has to pay tax daw based from the "value of the blouse" at mukhang mamahalin kaya mamahalin din ang tax. When my sister asked for a receipt so she can reimburse (wala sinabi lang nya yun para malaman kung legit yung tax o hindi) the woman said, ang dami mong arte, bayaran mo na kundi di mo makukuha itong damit mo at akin na lang ito! WOW... "akin na lang ito!" so NEVER AGAIN!

    1. HI. This is the original poster. The online shop only had D Express as a shipping option for overseas purchases so akala namin OK. We didn't know that when D arrives in the Philippines, Post na maghahandle.

  18. Notorious for theft and PO kaya don't send anything of importance and value.

  19. I completely agree with this post. After several attempts of sending stuff to my brother in the Philippines, we have given up a long time ago. He did not get anything, everything was mysteriously lost in transit. This is just so sad. Local post office sees return address from U.S/other country and it doesn't even matter if it has nothing valuable in it because they open each and every one of them, stealing the ones with cash and other valuable stuff in them.

  27. I was a victime of this Last year. I sent a small pacage, it was IPHONE and a pair of earing and bracelet, both were gold. sadly my family did not recieved the said item. I confrimed from Our Royal Mail here in LONDON, tama naman ang adress at barcode.

  29. Hi all. I wrote the letter. Was supposed to write FP a longer email with all the details but never got to. Thanks FP for posting my letter.

Bale the online Aus-based shop offered shipping overseas so I entered my friend's address directly. Hindi ako yung nagship. The store was offering only one company for overseas shipping -- a courier company, namention ng iba dito. Dahil courier company, my friend & I thought na reliable dapat.

First time, my friend's address did not exist daw. Tapos nawala yung parcel. The online store shouldered the loss & resent another parcel.

Second time, same address ha, nasa Pilipinas daw. The tracking on LocalPost website said it was on its way to the local office pero di malocate kahit na kinontact ng store at ng kaibigan ko yung LocalPost na binibigay yung tracking number.

On April 28 my friend got a "2nd notice" saying it was at the local office. Take note walang 1st notice & when he inquired at the office a short time previously wala silang alam. Then 3 business days later they said 1 month na daw sa kanila and had it returned to sender. At bakit yung 2nd notice pinadala with only 3 business days to go??

The online store is really confused because they've never encountered "service" like that. While I know that LocalPost is unreliable, I'm surprised that the courier company is using LocalPost pagdating sa Pilipinas.
