On the set of a television commercial shoot, everything was in place except for the male endorser's payment. Despite the brand manager's repeated assurance that his cheque for the payment was on its way, he pretended not to hear anything and just sat in one corner of the dressing room. He even refused to have his hair and make-up done while waiting for the cheque to be delivered.
When the envelope containing the cheque was finally handed by the brand manager to the endorser's handler, the endorser suddenly had a 180 degrees mood change. It was so obvious that he only perked up and started being friendly with everyone around after the payment was received.

Pero di ba dapat bayad na ang talent fee before the shoot even begun? so maybe imbyerna kasi late na late na ang talent fee. Who knows what happened before the shoot and what's stipulated sa contract. Porke ba you're insisting on what you think is right may attitude problem ka na?

ReplyDeleteyeah. this is R. this guy has an attitude, he hit his girls and he uses them for money. He was still with his GF when he started a relationship with J. the Ex supported him with all his luho.... He wanted to be a photog daw so the girl ( who has in the states at that time and unaware that he was cheating on her already) gave him a laptop, a professional camera and all the gadget that he needed. He accepted all the gifts and broke up with her after receiving them! tsk tsk.

ReplyDeletethis is only one side of the story...wala tayo dun so we dont know exactly what happened. yung manager nya dapat ang nakiki-alam sa money matters ng talent nya. and he shouldnt have been there to begin with kung hindi fully paid ang TF. di din natin alam baka may precedent na yung brand manager. still, he took this talent's power to endorse kasi alam nya he has a good reputation and market value...so kung ano yung naka stipulate sa contract dapat sundin. malay mo nga andun sa contract nya na paid sya before he works, so meaning yung brand manager ang hindi sumunod sa contract. tama ba?

Kung talaga may powers si brand manager, pwede nya rin siyang magpakitang gilas...i've called the main office and have a budget approved for hotel voucher, extra compensation etc.

R could have the upper hand too, instead of idling in one corner, he could have approached it this way... Brand Manager, since wala pa yung cheke, there's no official work here. While waiting, can i make use of my time to do my other businesses?
Brand manager is at fault in this situation and must apologize front and back.
R was doing his job. He switched his gears on, when the work started. E pwedeng pwede naman siya nagpatuloy mag-dabog kasi na-dyahe ang oras niya. pero it looks like he was on working mode when things were truly in place.
C'mon don't be hypocrite guys. We all the want the ANDA but we are timid to admit it. lalo na for the women, for example, mostly don't negotiate for a higher pay even if they deserve it kasi money feels like a dirty issue and the dreaded the "mukhang pera" label.

ReplyDeleteTo those defending this behavior, I roll my eyes and say: oh, puh-lease. I've been a production manager (both in the Phils and overseas) and with all the things that need to be taken care of in a shoot, it always gives people in our position a little breathing room to settle everything at the end (along with waivers, releases and other things that need to be signed). I've never had this problem with any of my talents pulling long faces until they've gotten paid. If he had such a big problem with it then he should have simply specified that his fee needs to be settled at the beginning of the shoot. Then the person in charge would have made absolutely sure the cheque was on hand. (I usually have all the checks and petty cash with me at the start of the shoot... which is also part of being professional. It's a two-way street). No grumpiness, no prima donna behavior. It's simply called being gracious, professional and easy to work with.

You said it yourself, you have the checks etc. at the start of the shoot as part of being professional. Hence, whoever was handling this shoot was not professional for not having the check with him/her at the start. Isn't it obvious? FYI, I never liked this host too, but I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to get paid first. The BI didn't say he was being bitchy about it, just that he refused to get prepped up without payment. Hand me a check for a big amount of money and I'd definitely perk up instantly. Wouldn't you? :P

Hindi naman sila ma-epal sa public compared sa iba diyan na twitter ng twitter. Diba private pa nga yung kasal nila? Kung yung network lang ang masusunod, special telecast pa yan with product placements.

if they are horrible na makatrabajo, then dapat matagal na silang walang raket. kasi sa totoo lang, hindi na sila maningning. ang daming ibang talents diyan, and probably cheaper pa. ang shoba na ni missus, si mister parang peter pan syndrome.
ReplyDeletenanggagalaiti na yun sa brand manager kahit dumating na ang pera. but he has to fulfill his end of the deal, kaya makipagplastikan na para mabilis matapos. at the end of the day it's just a job.
situations like this should not be new to the brand manager, and an experienced one knows how to handle this professionally.
i've worked in the industry and some ad agencies are notorious for not paying up on time and in the end the suppliers have to wait for weeks to get their PF, minsan pa nga they shoulder muna the expenses pagwala pang pera from agencies. I think this actor is just being cautious na he gets paid for what he's supposed to do. His aloof attitude might have stemmed from past experiences and IMHO a celebrity doesnt need to be ma PR all the time. Tao rin naman sila na kelangan ng "switch off" mode from being a celebrity. bakit sa TMZ when they ambush interview celebs and the reporters get brushed off hindi naman ganun ka big deal yun.

ReplyDeleteIf you have some ounce of common sense in your body, you would know that he is not just a local celebrity and his stature is something that all of us could not even fathom. Now for someone of his stature, he has managers handling his payments, contracts, engagements etc., and payments mostly are made not on the day of the shoots but as early as the contract signing etc. etc. Have you seen his international endorsements? Local endorsements are just barya to him compared to these, hindi naman niya papabayaan ang sarili niya to stoop down to that level na mag antay ng cheke on the day of the shoot, if you know him he is so professional.

Chastise the commenters for getting the item wrong, the word money was meant to confuse and it appears that it's serving its purpose well based on the number of posts naming politician. But I have to agree on what you said, at this point M is so above any of our local stars and other celebs. He is an A-lister by Hollywood standards. He has his Achilles heel but it only proves he's human. Anyway I never agreed with the whole idea that public figures like celebrities and athletes are youth models. I grew up saturated in media yet I never revered any celebrity or athlete in that manner. Parents, don't be lazy and let some celebrity or athlete raise your kids. These celebrities and athletes should inspire but overall, kids should draw their greatest inspiration from the ones who brought them into the world. Parents who are content to let media raise their kids then raise hell over controversies and scandals later on are just LAZY.
