The Actor's Assistant: Case Closed =)

I am happy to be back in Manila. There is really no place like home. When I was in Europe, a friend of mine from Laoag sent me a text message regarding a story she received from Twitter about the problem of The Actor's Assistant.  Yesterday, this friend of mine updated me through a text message informing me that the problem of the PA has finally been solved. After hearing the good news, I got in touch with source of the story and this was the message I received.
Dear Fashion PULIS,
I would just like to express our deepest gratitude to you. If not for the blind item entitled The Actor's Assistant you posted in your blog, the personal assistant (PA) of the actor wouldn't have gotten out of the hospital. Your blog site (which I check daily) is not only entertaining, it also helps voiceless people. I have introduced your blog to my friends and now they are hooked like me. Congratulations! In a short span of time you gained a considerable number of followers. More power to your blog and may you continue to help other people.
Sincerely,
F.A.R.
After receiving her message, I asked her a few questions to clarify some of the comments that our readers have posted.

Q: There was a reader who said that the actor does not have a PA. Is he the driver?
A: RIGHT HAND MAN may be the more appropriate term. He takes care of actor's money. Apparently, he helps the actor collect money from well-known people and deposit the money. Sometimes, he drives for the actor but he is definitely not the driver, more of  a "KATIWALA".  He is also acts as the liaison officer for his other businesses. In fact, this actor has 2 right hand men. The one in the story is A and the other is J. It is not true that A received a house from the actor as your reader has commented. He used to live in the house of the actor.

Q: Who was the one who gave the cash to the PA's family? Do you know how much was given?
A: The wife, on behalf of the actor, was the one who gave the money to the family members. She gave 50% of the amount and even helped the family members obtain the other 50% from charitable institutions. Kudos to them!

Q: How is the condition of the PA?
A: Unfortunately, it is Stage 4 Colon Cancer. In fairness to the doctors in the said hospital where he was transferred to, they did not charge the PA's family right and left thinking that the actor will be the one to shoulder the expenses. The doctors just performed an operation that was really necessary and did not do other expensive invasive procedures since the PA's family informed them that they are under financial constraint.

Thank you very much to all the readers of Fashion PULIS for entrusting your stories to me. If you have anything to share, please feel free to get in touch with me through: michaelsylim@gmail.com. By the way, I hope to announce the winners of the Longchamp Le Pliage Tote and Vidajewelries Longevity Bangle/ Kanebo Giveaway contests this coming week. Thank you for all your love and support!

  1. Kudos to you FP. Your blog is not only entertaining but also you help voiceless people. It would be better if you mention the name or even the initials when you'll another blind item like this.

To the first commenter: I don't think posting names or even initials would "be better", as you can see the issue was resolved even without FP doing so. Everybody still got a favorable ending. No need to name names, it's an open secret kind of thing. IMHO lang naman po. :)

  5. I don't think it's the actor's obligation to pay for the medical expenses. Kawawa naman si actor because he's being put in a bad light. It's not like he dropped his sick assistant like a hot potato. I'm sure he has done a lot for him. Alam ko mayabang itong actor na ito and nakakainis sya pero I think hindi naman tama na gawan sya ng ganitong chismis.

  6. I think this issue has been blown out of proportion, hindi naman obligasyon ni actor na bayaran lahat ng medical expenses and it was unfair for the assistant's family to assume and depend on him. Just being objective..

  7. To Anon 3:29 PM, it was he actor who urged the PA to transfer to a nicer, and more expensive hospital, knowing fully well the financial limits of his PA. If he didn't want to foot the bill, he shouldn't have said anything anymore kasi alam naman nyang walang pambayad si PA sa magandang hospital.

  8. Wow galing mo naman FP! Great job! I know its a BI but tignan mo naman ang result, nakatulong ka sa pamilya ni assistant. Keep it up!

  9. he wants to run for a public post to help the needy people and yet yun taong malapit sa kanya and who had worked for over a decade hilaw ang tulong na binigay. hay naku, di nya na talaga mauuto ang mga voters to vote for him! will somebody please advise him not to run in the election anymore? there is something about him that is quite sinister.

  10. I agree with Lastikman. The actor has political ambitions and is married to a politician and he acts this way? Maybe the bill wouldn't have ballooned kung hindi sila nagtago, kaya naman pala nilang tulungan bakit kinailangan pa ng BI? If he has political ambitions he should have long known that it is a hard habit to break among some Filipinos to expect help from politicians, from pregnancy to death, politicians are asked for help. How much more this trusted employee of his, who if I am not mistaken is even his distant relative from mother's side.

  11. Wow medyo abusado din naman ang pamilya ng assistant, hindi man lang nahiya na ipasagot lahat kay actor ang bill? tsk.. tsk.. dapat thank you kung may matanggap malaki man o maliit, hindi duty ni actor yun!

Helping to pay others' hospital bills should just be voluntary. Di tayo mga rich tulad ng royal family so we should save our money for our family for when they get sick....not for other people.

  14. To: anon 8:59 p.m. and 11:21 p.m.
We are not talking about an ordinary guy. We are talking of an actor who's got so many blessings in life. No wonder Bong Revilla, Jinggoy and Lito Lapid made it to the Senate for 2 terms because it means they've been helping a lot of people. Hindi naman din pinasasagot ang bill lahat, tulong lang since they already paid some amount in their 1st confinement. Hindi na sa pera, sa dalaw na lang. please, I know the assistant, he's dying and given 6 months to live. He also deserves respect from you guys. Wag na nating sabihang abusado, I know him for 15 yrs, mabait yung assistant, hindi niya kasalanan kung hindi siya financially stable. Wala namang inapakan itong taong sinasabi niyong abusado.

  17. Ang obligasyon ng isang tao ay to be true to his words and ave word of honor, sabagay si actor, puro yabang lang ata, walang honor!

  18. Pag may BI and may nag-react to defend whom they think the person is, then somebody must be guilty!

  19. for me, helping others is definitely voluntarily. No one can force you to help or extend financial support. Kahit savhin pang nag trabaho s kania ng 20 years, kung anuman pinag tatrabahuhan nia, sinuswelduhan sia. pero based on my experiences, d birong pera ang uubusin sa cancer.. don't expect them to shoulder everything.

    1. I only hope na when it's your turn to get sick eh may tumulong sa'yo.

    2. AnonymousOctober 20, 2012 4:36 AM, That's uncalled for.
