No Benefit

The Philippines is known as the selfie capital of the world. At every opportunity, many Filipinos would get their mobiles and snap a photo as they feel like it. A beautiful background or an inspiring scene can motivate any selfie. However, the selfie excitement heightens if they see a personality seemingly available for a photo opportunity. Regardless of place, as soon as a celebrity is recognized, a cellphone will be brought out. The daring ones would just steal a photo but the well-mannered will ask permission.

When a Network Talent (NT) found himself in the same elevator as a couple of members of a highly-regarded group (CM), he took the opportunity, as they might even be neighbors. NT introduced himself as he is not recognizable as matinee idols. NT has good looks in his own right, and years in various shows have already made him a celebrity in his own right.

However, NT was shocked as CM or the two were nonchalant. They remained stoic for the elevator ride. NT finally had the guts to ask for a selfie but the two immediately put on their facemasks. One of the girls turned around to avoid NT and the other said that she was okay with the selfie but NT should not post it on social media. NT was dumbfounded. He’s been in the industry and doing shows longer than any of the group members of CM. He was just surprised that they, who are still considered young in the entertainment industry, already have shown him an attitude.

Resolved Problem

Image courtesy of Rod Cañalita/ Manila Bulletin

All’s well that ends well may be the cliché that describes the relationship between Female Celebrity 1 (FC1) and Female Celebrity 2 (FC2). FC1 and FC2 may be said to have matured in the entertainment industry. On the one hand, one of them had a very early start in her career, which showed her interest even at an early age. On the other hand, the other pursued her career later on.

Seeing FC1and FC2 together on social media surprised many people. Netizens were not used to having the two in one frame. Thus, posts involving them garnered several reactions. Subsequently, photos of the two showed care for each other, which got positive reactions. Netizens assumed that the two were indeed learning from each other’s diverse experiences.

One day, watchers were alarmed as the photos of the two seemed to have lessened in their social media. Close scrutiny of their followers panicked as they were no longer social media friends. No one could offer any explanation. An intruding boy as theory was downplayed as there was no one who fit the bill. Based on their previous experiences, FC1 and FC2 apparently had preference for different men types.

According to sources, their falling out had nothing to do with any man. Rather, the reason was professional jealousy, so to speak. The rumor was that one of the two was supposed to have gone overseas for a runway gig and be visible where it matters. However, she was dropped in favor of her friend. The incident resulted in ill-feelings and disappointment. Temporarily, the connection between FC1 and FC2 was severed. Weeks later, the two could have opted for a mature perspective and reconsidered social media friendship once again.
