While freedom of speech is a right and social media is the new form of expressing raw feelings, many netizens have forgotten that limits exist. For example, celebrities are bound to be loyal to their management and expected to be mindful of what they say in interviews and write in their social media accounts. Moreover, contract-bound celebrities are required to behave in the best way possible, as negative posts, reactions, and responses could affect their image.

Expectedly, Expressive Celebrity (EC) was immediately called by the top bosses when they were displeased at her use of social media. EC was reminded that certain projects of the network do not include every talent, as there are expectations, such as the capability to sing and dance convincingly. Lineup changes can happen for valid reasons, as well.

The top bosses expressed their disappointment, too. Out of all their talents, EC was reminded that she has always been with them and never did they let her down. She should have been more mature in her responses. Anyway, if she needs to promote a project, she gets to be invited in shows that could increase her visibility.

On hindsight, some network insiders are already irked at the way EC is handling her troubles. Every negative experience she has becomes a big deal when it gets posted on social media. Hence, her image becomes associated with negativity, which can affect her projects. Besides, she always projects herself as the victim to gain sympathy from her followers and generate hate for her personal antagonists. Thus, instead of EC appearing in all possible shows for promoting her projects, her exposure was limited, such as not performing in any production number.

‘There is a fine line between compassion and a victim mentality. Compassion though is a healing force and comes from a place of kindness towards yourself. Playing the victim is a toxic waste of time that not only repels other people, but also robs the victim of ever knowing true happiness.’ ― Bronnie Ware

Major Attitude

Corporate event planners only want the best for their clients and usually, they tap talents from different management companies. Thus, while waiting for their numbers, being together in the dressing room can be bonding moments for celebrities coming from different managers or stations. Most celebrities look forward to the chance of knowing who might be perceived as competition or simply make friends.

Rather than widen her circle of friends, Newbie Performer (NP) has strict requirements of having the dressing room all to herself, which has caused much controversy among event personnel. During one event for one of the top companies in the country, NP was invited to perform. As the event was a major one, other celebrities were invited. VIPS were part of the event as well. When NP was making her way to her dressing room, she found out that she would be sharing space with Talented Singer (TS) from another management team. Immediately, NP called her glam team and manager to pack up, as her strict requirement of having her own dressing room was not met.

The event organizer explained that the occasion had many performers and she and NP were the only ones in the room anyway. NP did not buy the reason. She called her manager and insisted on walking out. Her manager said that NP should just be patient, but she insisted that she wanted to be alone prior to her performance so she can internalize. The event organizer was getting stressed, as the audience expected NP to perform. The company has hundreds of employees and corporate events are major deals for it.

The manager asked the event organizer again if a solo room was available. The event organizer said the request was impossible. Luckily, they reached a compromise. TS would go ahead with her numbers and after she leaves, NP can have the room all by herself. TS was easy to talk to and had no qualms about the arrangement. After all, her audience was valuable.

Incidentally, NP has been known for such behavior. At times, she would cancel shows and her manager has no choice but to return the downpayment. More than the money lost, the worries of her manager are more on tarnishing her reputation. In another incident, even her own network had suffered from this attitude. When NP found out she was sharing a dressing room with other talents from her own network, she refused to get out of her car. Thus, the makeup artist had to make do with the tiny space to make sure NP looked right.
