Small talk matters and sometimes result in hurting the parties involved. When they were starting out, Pretty Talent (PT) and Versatile Newcomer (VN) were the best of friends. PT and VN were among the most promising new talents and management saw potential in the two as the next ones to be built up. Although they cater to the same audience segment, PT is known for her acting while VN has commendable singing skills.
As time passed, PT became more known and soon, endorsements started coming her way. Her projects were increasing as well. Slowly, as PT made her progress, VN was left behind by her bff. Even their fans got into the picture and started heightening the competition between the two in social media. Soon, VN felt envious, as PT was emerging as a stronger force.
With envy came distance, and VN chose to be with other female celebrities. Her once close friendship with PT was torn. Even when they would bump into each other in the workplace, no “Hi’s!” were exchanged. Meanwhile, fandoms were not helpful at all and VN’s fans knew where to hit PT. As she is still new to the industry, PT could not help but respond to bashers.
Soon after, the management decided to put the two in a major project with Huge Star (HS). The two were, of course, excited, but even this cast was not spared from intrigue. Someone told PT of an overheard conversation between VN and her new group of friends, who were congratulating her for her inclusion in the major project.
VN allegedly said that PT was not supposed to be included in the movie and the role of PT was really meant for a younger and attractive actress. Cute Boy (CB) intervened and used his close relationship with HS to persuade her to include PT. As soon as PT heard the story, she confronted VN. VN said she was just kidding and meant no harm. VN apologized to PT, as she feared her statements might reach the management and so now, the press release is that they are back to being friends.
“It was a mistake," you said. But the cruel thing was, it felt like the mistake was mine, for trusting you.” ― David Levithan

Limited Professionalism

When one agrees to take on responsibility, he/she must live to expectations. For instance, when one accepts an assignment, he/she should meet the terms of the contract. Such terms could include supplying the needed items or being present on location. Unfortunately, even Seasoned Practitioner (SP) seemed to have missed out on the memo of professionalism.
One time, SP agreed to make sure Popular Celebrity (PC) would have the glitz and glamour for her photoshoot. Any project involving PC means that it’s in the big league. Companies that hire PC to endorse products spend an arm and a leg just to get the nod of her management. Even if her services can be pricey, companies know that PC is an effective endorser.
Confident that everything was going to happen as planned, SP did not bother to show up during the actual project. SP instructed an assistant on what to do and how to handle PC. The production team, meanwhile, although disappointed at the absence of SP, proceeded to brief PC. As time was moving, the shoot was about to start. Suddenly, the team had a major problem. The outfit that was agreed upon for PC to wear was missing. The assistant could not find it. Panic set in and a call was made to SP.
SP, knowing that her reputation would be at stake and that she did not want to be embarrassed, apologized and said that she will do what she could. After a few minutes, SP said that she will bring the outfit personally to the location. It turned out that the location was a few hours away from the city and SP had to travel all the way to the area.
To save face, as the faux pas had already wasted much time and incurred costs, SP said that she will attend personally to PC’s needs. In fact, she even said that she will waive the payment. SP doing something for free delighted the production. Somehow, their frustration was appeased. The project started to roll. SP was around and made sure PC looked fine. As the day was about to end, SP thought that she would be able to go home immediately. To her shock, she learned that the commitment was for two days. As she had given her word, she had no choice but to stay until the very end of the project.
