Repost: Sexual Harassment Case Against Noven Belleza Dropped

Singing champion Noven Belleza can now heave a sigh of relief.
The 19-year-old teenage woman who accused him of sexually molesting her inside a condominium in Barangay Lahug last July 15, was no longer interested in pursuing the case she filed against him.
“After a sober soul-searching, assessment, and analysis of this case, I have realized that I have reached the point that I am no longer interested in pursuing the case due to inordinately adverse effects it brought to me and my family,” she said in her affidavit of desistance.
“Further, in my earnest desire to achieve peace of mind, I am permanently withdrawing my complaint against the accused. I hereby release him (Belleza) from any and all criminal liabilities and waive any criminal action against him in connection with the above-mentioned case,” she added.
The complainant, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe in Cebu City, requested the court to dismiss the charges against Belleza.
Judge James Stewart Ramon Himalaloan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Cebu City had yet to rule on the complainant’s affidavit of desistance which was filed on Aug. 29.
Belleza’s lawyer Leilani Villarino begged from issuing any statement as the court had yet to rule on the complainant’s request to dismiss the case against the singer.
Belleza, a rice farmer from Negros Occidental, was the grand champion in last March’s Tawag ng Tanghalan, a talent search aired on ABS-CBN’s noontime program “Showtime.”
Belleza, 22, was arrested by operatives of the Mabolo Police Station last July 15 after he performed in the comedy concert of the noontime show’s host Vice Ganda at the IEC Pavilion in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
The complaint told the police that she was sexually molested by Belleza inside a condominium in Barangay Lahug.
Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Casiño found sufficient basis to indict Belleza on charges of rape by sexual assault.
Sexual assault can be slapped against a person who inserts his or her finger or any other object into the genital of another person.
Based on the investigation of the police, Belleza and the victim knew each other and were textmates. Belleza was released from police custody after he posted bail amounting to P120,000.

Quiet Separation
Such is the dilemma of Esteemed Performer (EP), who is known for a reputation that is often used as the gauge of success for any person who wants to last long in showbiz. EP is known for her talent in singing, acting, and even hosting. She is also known for being outspoken and expressing her opinion on daily matters. However, throughout her career, EP has built what seemed to be an impenetrable image.
Other than an established name, EP is known to be a good wife and mother. Although her family is often away from the limelight, EP makes it a point to show that she has a strong family unit. Unfortunately, EP has a weakness, and he happens to be Talented Celebrity (TC).
Sometime ago, the paths of EP and TC crossed, as both were together in various projects. During that time, both were busy with their careers, and TC was seeing other women. Moreover, EP was busy with her commitments, such that they lost touch with each other. Then, EP and TC found respective partners and settled down. Their married lives were picture perfect as far as what the public perceived.
An incident, however, proved that both were weak. EP and TC found themselves together abroad by chance, and that created an opportunity to be alone and rekindle the old passion. To make matters more interesting, someone who knew the Husband of EP (HP) saw the two in a hotel. When EP came back home, HP confronted her, but she replied that such story was just part of showbiz intrigue. The story does not end there, as HP caught EP sending texts messages to TC. The incidents prodded him to ask for a separation.
The anger and decision of HP made EP panic, as any leakage to the public would tarnish her reputation, as well as that of TC. EP asked HP to be discrete, as she has an image to protect. Besides, EP knows that TC will never leave His Wife (HW), who saw him through his bad times. HP, to protect himself, agreed with EP. Although they are experiencing this trial, both have agreed to be together during special occasions. After all, the absence of HP in significant moments of EP would definitely raise many questions. Incidentally, rumors have it that HP might not be as clean after all. He allegedly has another woman somewhere far from their family abode.
If indeed EP and HP were to separate, she has a career to lean on, but the backlash coming from fans and bashers can be a sea of torment.
