Repost: Cebu Daily News Claims Kim Chiu Exhibited Rude Behavior Towards Media

As celebrations for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day were underway yesterday, Cebu Daily News sent its staff to all major cemeteries to photograph public figures visiting their dead.

One such personality was Kim Chiu, who along with her relatives, was spotted at the Cebu Memorial Park (Cempark) visiting her deceased mother.

A member of CDN’s editorial staff, quietly approached the Chiu mausoleum, introduced herself and respectfully asked her companions, who were by the road, if she could take a photo of the celebrity explaining that this was part of CDN’s All Saints Day coverage.

As CDN understands the need for privacy, it would have been perfectly fine for Chiu to decline even though other celebrities (more famous than Chiu) had no problem having their photos taken.

But what followed left the CDN editor in shock.

Chiu, who on television appears very sweet, was utterly rude; giving the editor a smirk from where she stood as Chiu’s companion whispered to her CDN’s request.

Without as much as acknowledging the presence of the visitor, Chiu, through her aide, curtly tells CDN to “grab her photos from IG (Instagram).”

And as though that “attitude” was not enough, Chiu moves closer to the editor, ignores her but nods to the person standing right beside, who must have been Chiu’s dad.

“Ali, Pa! (come here dad),” she said, this time, her eyebrows crossed in a frown.

Chiu then poses for a private photo with her dad and sister in front of her mother’s grave while smiling like an angel.

An Ungrateful Pal

Personal events often test the level of friendship one shares with others. In showbiz, celebrities usually brag when they have found true friends among their colleagues. The reason for this pride is that they recognize that a number of celebrities are really not true and only take advantage of certain relationships.

Sometime ago, Actress 1 (A1), Actress 2 (A2), and Actress 3 (A3) were admired for the friendship they exhibited during their program. Nonetheless, A1, A2, and A3 acknowledged that their bond extended even behind the cameras. Thus, their friendship was deemed ideal.

When their program was scrapped due to reformatting, the three had to go separate ways. A1 opted to semi-retired, A2 decided to pursue an acting career that showed her prowess as the anti-heroine, and A3 went back to the airwaves. However, circumstances were unkind to A3, as she realized that she had to make a move given the major reformatting the station was conducting then.

When an offer from Another Station (AS) was presented to A3, she grabbed the opportunity because the potential seemed wide and financially rewarding. As A3 had various programs in AS, she found herself in alleged financial trouble. With a growing family, A3 had to make sure her children and new husband would be well taken care of. When A1 and A2 learned of the problem of A3, they pooled resources and offered A3 help.

As fate would have it, A3 had to make a comeback, which had become a pattern for several artists who had though that they would have a better career at AS. This time, A3 was blessed with projects and regular shows in the various media arms of her station. Thus, her finances were finally on the upswing.

Sadly, A1 was not as lucky as A3. This time, she needed help and turned to A3. However, A3 did not answer her calls nor reply to messages. These actions were justified because A3 was really busy.

However, when A3 learned that A1 might borrow money from her, the hide-and-seek game started. Thus, it felt like A3 was intentionally keeping her distance from A1 allegedly. Then, A1 was surprised because A3 sent a small amount of money, which was merely like a token. More than the financial help, A1 was hoping to see A3 personally to at least reminisce old times. Unfortunately, A3 did not bother to see her old friend.

When their circle learned of what A3 had done, they all felt bad. Not only did A3 show her true self, they felt that she did not at all have any sense of gratitude. When she needed help, A1 and company did not hesitate to help her out. Now that A1 is in need, A3 has not even made herself available. Hence, their friendship has gone cold these days.

Miss Philippines Earth 2nd runner-up Loren Artajos will replace Imelda Schweighart instead of 1st runner-up Kiara Giel Gregorio, pageant organizers announced Wednesday night.

Carousel Productions president Ramon Monzon made the announcement at a party for Miss Earth 2016 winners at the Oakwood Hotel in Pasig City.

Artajos, a nursing graduate from Laoag City, was named Miss Philippines Water in June.

Carousel Productions, the outfit that runs the pageant, earlier said Gregorio would take over for Schweighart, who relinquished her crown on Monday.

But Gregorio, a law student, said she was not sure if she would be able to fulfill Schweighart's remaining obligations because she has a scholarship with the University of Westminster in London.

Gregorio represented the Filipino community in London and was crowned Miss Philippines Air.

The confusion regarding the succession came after Schweighart stepped down following social media backlash caused by her controversial statements.

Schweighart failed to qualify in the top 16 of Miss Earth 2016, which was won by Miss Ecuador's Katherine Espín.

After the pageant, a video of Schweighart bashing the newly crowned Espin circulated online.

She also earlier drew flak for likening President Rodrigo Duterte to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.- With reports from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
