Words can be very powerful and influence the course of life. For example, during reality talent shows, the words of the judges can make or break the future of the contestant. Judges are usually recognized authorities from the industry and are expected to give their opinion on the performance of contestants. To be asked to join the panel of judges is a privilege and recognition of one’s capability in knowing if an ordinary person has potential to make it. Besides, most judges in talent shows started as nobodies and got their breaks because they had the elements of a star.

Given that the judging is done live and spontaneous, judges are expected to be lively, helpful, and constructive in their comments. Calling a spade a spade should be done with tact. After all, the way judges speak would reflect of their image and affect the feelings of the contestants. Nonetheless, everyone has to be open and game to the rudiments of the program. While things started smoothly in a talent show, the staff noticed that Judge One (JO) was sometimes giving unrelated and irrelevant comments lately. JO would sometimes give the impression that she was not attuned.

What then could explain this behavior of JO? Words did. JO is allegedly still hurting from what seemed to be an innocent discourse, but turned out to be a painful exchange of thoughts. As JO is not getting younger, she broached the idea of settling down and having kids with her Beleaguered Partner (BP). JO said that her family was getting older as well and they would love to see her married and having kids. These ideas are normal and expected for couples who have been together for years. Besides, JO and BP have gone through so much together and settling down would be one of the most anticipated milestones for the couple. Both their sides are accepting of each other and are rooting for them.

Unfortunately, JO heard the most unexpected response from BP. When JO hinted the same concern, BP retorted with words that touched a nerve. He allegedly questioned the idea of why do they have to be pressured to settle down and have kids while the most significant relation (SR) of JO was still alive. This response caught JO off-guard as she did not expect those words from a person whom she loves. Given her family situation, SR is her inspiration and her driving force for her to pursue her career. The least was for BP to understand where she was coming from.

While JO is trying to be optimistic and professional, the effect sometimes is seen in her spontaneous comments in the said show. Adding to the awkwardness is that JO and BP could only avoid each other for some time. Eventually, JO and BP will bump into each other and decide if they will truly let go of each other or give their fans the happy ending that is wished for them.
