His Childish Behavior

One of the practices of a network is to provide opportunities for a talent to discover his/her capability and calling. Thus, long gone are the days when a celebrity can maintain his/her status by just focusing on one genre. For example, when someone starts as a host of a show, then that talent will remain in that field until the end of his/her career. Then, someone good in drama will remain acting in tearjerkers.

As times changed and the audience became impatient, the entertainment industry began the practice of cross-overs, whereby a host can try acting and an actor can be tasked with hosting tasks confidently. Nowadays, only a handful of celebrities can claim that they are popular because they only stuck to one talent. Today, there is no such thing as a “non-singer” because if one wants to remain long enough in the industry, the talent must be able to act, host, sing, and dance. In other words, a talent must evolve.

Thus, when the network started to revamp its program lineup, some talents had to give way to new faces for a program. The principle behind the choice of which talent to drop stems from the concept that if one has not changed or developed into someone better as an actor or host, then that talent has to move on. Lucky are the ones who still have projects compared to those talents who were told not to show up the next day without any warning or promise of any project.

Consider Pretty Actress (PA) lucky. Prior to her acting breaks, she was merely dismissed as another one of those discoveries who only had looks and nothing more. Then, rumors would even circulate that she was not really much into her daily exposure and had to be prodded to show some energy. After some time lingering in a program, PA had her acting break in a movie that made critics praise her acting. PA impressed the critics and gained positive feedback for her performance. Soon, she was getting acting jobs while still keeping her day job.

Then, when her show decided to bring in changes to catch up with the competition, PA was no longer seen and was thus deemed to be among the talents who had to be dropped. Now, someone (SO) is losing motivation to appear in the show and is adamant in wanting PA to be reinstated. However, PA is not interested to return to the daily routine and prefers the bigger compensation she is receiving in her other projects. Allegedly, it really is just SO who wants PA back. Given that PA has found her calling, the possibility of her adhering to SO’s request seems to be very slim. Besides, the network seems to be firm on its plans for PA, and at this point, PA could only hope that the network delivers. As for SO, he very well knows that one has to evolve as a talent to remain in the industry and PA might just be moving towards her self-development, which he has to accept like a mature person.
