Racist Post Against Filipinos over Gilas’ Loss Sparks Outrage

Never add insult to injury.
Filipino netizens, still reeling from the controversial loss of Gilas Pilipinas to China in the Rio Olympic qualifying tournament, did not take a seemingly racist post of a Chinese Instagram user sitting down.
The IG user with the handle account yu.long has enraged many when he posted a remark that appears to discriminate against Filipinos, and at the same time belies allegation that the game officiating in the heartbreaking Gilas loss’ to the Chinese team, was not ‘sabotaged’, or as many have said, ‘cooked’ Chinese-style.
Yu.long’s comment appears to be in reply to one @engr.castronuevo. He wrote: “We can’t buy referees, but we can buy a million Filipinos to clean our toilet.”
A screenshot of yu.long’ IG post was uploaded on the Facebook page of media personality Cesar Apolinario. Apolinario, himself derided yu.long with the caption: “Posts like this one deserves 12 rounds of applause and a come from behind three point shot sa ilong ng batang to! (in his nose)” with the hashtags #Racist and #TellYourMomToTeachYouSomeManners.
Irate users flooded the post with comments full of spite, insult and sarcasm of varying degree directed against yu.long.
“A commentary coming from a retard will never make me feel less like a human…” one wrote.
Another, obviously offended, replied: “Your mouth is way dirty and stingy than a public toilet with no water…”
“Pocket full of cash, mouth full of trash. Talking non-sense,” yet another wrote.
But a few ‘cooler heads’ chose to be more forgiving, and urged everyone to just ignore the post.
“Everyone needs to chill. Have you guys read OUR tweets about them? I’m pretty sure we made racists remarks too,” a commenter said.
“Still many things that money can’t buy like respect for others and MANNERS. The whole world knows what you guys did on that particular day anyway. You guys are unbelievable,” added another.
The post has since been shared on Facebook more than 6k times and commented on more than 1.7K times. A check on Instagram turns out yu.long’s account has been made private.

Shuttling from One Actor to Another

The moment she entered showbusiness, Clever Actress (CA) has always had controversy attached to her name. Coming from a celebrity-filled family, CA was expected to carve her own name to make sure that the family legacy lives on. Thus, CA was already burdened with making sure that she will not embarrass the family name and reputation. The network that took her in was not disappointed because CA was able to bring in fans as well as acting recognition. However, despite her achievements, CA has her share of issues.
The fact that CA gets to have a project one after the other already puts her on the spot. Rumors have it that she happens to be one of the favorites of top management, which places her in a privileged position. In terms of her relationships, she has gone from quiet to controversial relationships. One of her relationships even became a divisive issue among fans, and people thought that love would have ended her career. Unfortunately, CA’s career was not affected and she was able to bounce back.
The question of why CA seems to be quite attractive to the male talents of her network is not at all surprising. Other than her looks and physique, CA has no qualms about being physical. She has no hang-ups on being tweetums or being innocent.
On an out of town trip, CA made sure that her night was full of passion in that cold damp weather. So, CA hooked up with Hot Talent (HT), who happens to have earned a good reputation for his performance as an actor and as a performer in the bedroom, as alleged by another actress. CA and HT have worked in projects together, and thus, familiarity was not a problem. Then, before returning home, CA got intimate with Performer Actor (PA), who seems to be trying to revive a sleeping career. Prior to working with HT, CA and PA had become screenpartners in various projects. At one point, PA was even pinpointed as the cause of the breakup of a relationship of CA.
Looking back, CA does have a long list of involvement with several male talents of her network. Thus, she somehow is rumored to be quite into physical intimacy. Sometime ago, a celebrity had to apologize for making a moniker out of her name. That comment was followed by much bashing, but then, that might be true after all.

Must Keep Her Standout

Being part of network requires certain expectations from management that have to be fulfilled by the talent. Other than meeting contractual obligations, sometimes, there would be requirements that are requested from talents. For instance, network talents have to prioritize the requests of their management above everything. Thus, if talents have a schedule for a show and such appearance is legitimate, then they have no other choice but to show up and perform as required.
As far as the appearances of talents are concerned, the management makes sure that they are given ample exposure and opportunities to promote themselves. After all, a famous talent can bring in the revenue from sponsors as well as loyalty from fans. In the case of this network, talents are overflowing and its stable of artists is quite deep such that competition can be very fierce.
As the network has successfully managed to make loveteams popular, the space seems to be getting smaller as these loveteams have the same genre, which is drama. Instead of having a solid fan base, each of these loveteams has established fan clubs that, unfortunately, look at their idols as competing with each other. Instead of coming up with a solid following for all the loveteams, fans are fragmented according to their idols.
The passing of time as well as box office and rating results of various projects have resulted in increased competition even among fan clubs. Thus, do not expect fans of loveteam 1 to be supportive of loveteam 2, and so on. Competition is so tough that fans troll social media accounts to protect their idols and bash the others.
While the setup of having several fans for the various loveteams was working for the station as well as the celebrities, something unexpected happened in the entertainment scene. An unknown couple suddenly started to squash all competition. In response, the rival network opted to do something new, that is, to put all their famous loveteams together on stage.The idea of putting all the hot loveteams in one number was impressive, as it indicated a united front. Moreover, having all of them together could show to the fans that they should not bash each other because their idols do not seem to see each other as competitors.
Now, if only the camps of the loveteams could see things in the same way. When the number of the loveteams was finalized, the stylists agreed on a certain theme and color for the pairs. In this way, the similar color scheme would make each other equal at the very least. Thus, when they perform, no one can say that one team had undue advantage.
When performance time came, some who knew of the arrangement were surprised to see that one performer (OP) had a different motif. Although the main part of the outfit was worn, the other part was so different that it made the other performers look like backup singers to OP. Obviously, someone from OP’s camp intentionally made OP have a different look and deviate from the earlier agreement to make her standout. Allegedly, even the stylist had to be told to find an outfit that would distinguish OP from the others. Did viewers notice that OP had a different look from the rest?
