Exemplifying Bad Attitude

Humility is often the first value that becomes forgotten whenever one gains fame and seems secure of a position in the entertainment industry. Seasoned stars, who have learned to be humble after a series of mistakes, stress humility and acknowledging one’s beginnings as essential lessons they would pass on to the current crop of young stars. Sadly, only a handful of young stars have remained humble despite fame and wealth.

When Singer Actress (SA) was propelled into unexpected popularity, she was immediately compared with Popular Talent (PT). Worse, the comparison turned into personal attacks when followers of SA started bashing PT. What is puzzling is if such action is a reaction of fans to the perceived impending threat that SA could bring to PT. PT, was in no way, thinking that she would be compared to SA, as the latter was far ahead in terms of achievement.

Being a newbie, SA would often remain in fan mode whenever she would be compared with PT. This case is, however, the opposite for the followers, who take time to write insults, criticisms, and other nasty comments against SA in social media. Regardless of such reality, SA would still want to have a pleasant relationship with PT, as the entertainment industry is just a small world.

One time, SA had the opportunity to find PT in her dressing room. Although they know of each other, as they have done shows together, no formal introduction has happened. Thus, SA asked someone from production (PS) if she could be formally introduced to PT. While she wanted to approach PT, she felt awkward to do it. Finally, PS asked SA to come nearer. When names were mentioned, PT acknowledged the presence of SA, and that was it. No hugs, no warmth, and few pleasantries were exchanged.

Alas, has PT imbibed a similar negative attitude as the bashers of SA? Although they cater to the same target market and projected as competitors by followers, SA and PT have never been involved in anything personal against each other. Is the reel rivalry getting into PT then? Despite PT’s achievements for herself and for her management, stories about her attitude as well as that of people in her camp have projected her lack of humility. PT even snubbed an influential person who was instrumental in honing her early in her career. Worse, some followers have trolled the social media accounts of the kin of the influential person to defend PT’s actions. Will PT even realize that character is the only thing that will be left, as youth and beauty are fleeting? Staying in showbiz requires having good attitude, which influential person can attest to.

Cousin Sheryl Against Poe’s Presidential Bid

Not all members of the Sonora showbiz family to which Senator Grace Poe belongs are in favor of her quest for the presidency in 2016.

Actress Sheryl Cruz, a daughter of Rosemarie Sonora and a cousin of Poe, on Wednesday said that Poe is not yet prepared for the highest post in the land.

“She’s not yet ready for the task, for the big responsibility. Everybody in your family is special to you [but] you don’t want to see somebody having a hard time most especially running the country,” Cruz said.

“I know her because we grew up together. There are actually things that you have to actually wait for,” Cruz said in an interview.

Cruz, who campaigned for and sometimes represented Poe on the campaign trail before the 2013 senatorial elections, said that while she acknowledges Poe’s capabilities, she believes that the neophyte senator still needs more time to prove her worth as a public servant.

“My cousin’s a neophyte. Yes, it’s nice to have fresh faces in our political arena, but it’s best to hone what you have [first],” she said.

Cruz said that she would like to entrust the presidency to candidates who are “more experienced” than Poe, like Vice President Jejomar Binay or Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas.

“Given time, I know she’ll be very good in what she’s doing, but just not right now. Probably in 2022,” she said.

Must Keep a Blind Eye

Over the years, the relationship between Effective Actor (EA) and Young Versatile talent (YV) has been speculated to be more than friendship. The alleged closeness began when EA and YV were paired off in a movie. Unfortunately, the movie did not do as expected, and thus both of them moved on to other projects.

While YV has been paired off with other actors and publicity materials have linked her with them, EA had to overcome rumors concerning his true partner (TP). TP is a well-respected and powerful network insider, who is responsible for some of the high quality programs of the network. Because their alleged relationship is not yet accepted by society, EA and TP have not responded to such rumors. What fuels the truth is that EA seems to be getting better roles and projects.

Fans of the pair are not that of the jealous type, and thus, only good wishes are sent to the couple. As the career of EA continues to flourish, YV had to shift her attention to the preparation for an alternative career. Projects seemed to elude her anyway. With or without projects, EA and YV have remained very close. EA has admitted to being the advisor of YV when it comes to certain investments. While YV thought she has found her man in EA, she finally discovered that having a relationship with him is not possible.

It was only recently that YV found out the truth behind EA and TP. Someone had allegedly confirmed the nature of the relationship of the two. YV was shocked. To appease her discovery of the truth, YV was given a project, which pulled her out of hiatus. The surprise gets even better because she was even granted a title. Publicity materials centered on how YV is marking a significant step in her career by lording it over a particular time slot.

Despite the discovery of the truth, YV is not one who will make a big deal out of what she learned. She has kept herself from saying that she has been used to keep the image of EA. YV is the breadwinner of her family, and she values every opportunity given to her. Her project is, of course, a way for her to earn. Given that she is supporting her family and is heavily involved in a major investment, she needs the financial resources. Therefore, making an issue between EA and TP will not benefit her career, but keeping silent will.
