Actress and former beauty queen Jean Saburit is facing an estafa complaint filed by her former boyfriend, American retiree James Andrew Jackson.

The case is in relation to the $600,000 that Saburit allegedly refused to return to Jackson.

According to the 74-year-old American national, he met Saburit through an online dating website in 2014. He said the actress was able to convince him to send money while they were planning their wedding.

Jackson went on to claim that Saburit broke up with him in 2015 when they did not push through with the purchase of a condominium in Rockwell, Makati worth P22 million, adding that the actress did not return his money.

Saburit refused to faced the media but released a statement on the issue, saying that she has filed a misrepresentation complaint against her ex-boyfriend.

She said she sought help from an investigator in the United States, who found that Jackson has a record of deceiving women.

"The investigation not only revealed that JAJ (Jackson) had lied to me from the onset of our relationship, but that he is also a selfish, heartless individual, who may be also a sociopath," Saburit said in the statement.

"Had I had an accurate insight into the 'real' James Jackson, I would never have gotten involved with this man," she added.

Jackson, however, maintained that it is Saburit who duped him, saying that he lost his life savings because of her.

Other than fame and fortune, temptation is the other face of showbusiness that is taken for granted by celebrities. With money, one can buy anything and indulge in behavior that might be questionable. With fame, one might use his/her name to obtain favor or products for free. However, what is more disturbing is that a great number of talents have had their careers ruined because they resort to vices to cope with the pressure to perform or to remain beautiful.

Commitment to a daily show requires the staff and stars to be always on call and in character. There is no room to slacken, as such behavior could result in delays. For example, when an actor in the lead role is unable to report to taping, the production has to resort to alternatives. The script has to be rewritten, especially if scenes require the absent actor. Then, the production has to make sure that the flow of the story will be convincing. If the production decides to call off the taping, the costs would be greater. Therefore, when an actor is given a show, he has to be in shape and ready for the demands.

When Amiable Performer (AP) got his break, no one predicted that a project would plunge him and His Partner (HP) into being well loved. More fans swooned at seeing AP and he gave back by remaining humble and accommodating. AP gave the fans what they wanted and the fans promised their support. Unfortunately, this fame has a price.

Close friends of AP are worried over his seeming need for a prohibitive substance. Allegedly, AP was introduced to the said substance when he was involved in a project that required successive taping days in a certain location. Someone from the staff invited AP to a jamming, and got AP hooked. AP liked the effect, as he felt energetic and alert after getting a hit. During the taping of the show, AP was always on his toes and ready to act out the demands of his role.

After the project ended, AP was expected to stop this habit. His friends were disappointed. During an out of town trip, AP asked if the said substance was legal in the said place. Worse, he asked where he could get some. The person whom he asked was shocked, as AP was known to have a clean image. Besides AP is idolized by the youth, and what he was doing could certainly tarnish his reputation. Unfortunately, HP knows of this possible addiction of AP. Although AP already holds a special place in her heart, HP is wishing hard that AP comes to his senses and drops this habit altogether. Perhaps, someone should monitor AP to make sure he foregoes such lifestyle. AP has much to lose, and continuing to give in to such temptation might not be good for his career.
