What’s in an Ex-Deal?

Business transactions are successful because of the equal exchange of goods or services agreed upon by the buyer and seller. Money is exchanged for desired merchandise or services. Now, what happens if one party does not have enough money to pay for the fee of a celebrity endorser? Through negotiations, some companies can be endorsed by a celebrity for tangible goods instead of money. Cars, properties, and gift certificates are the common forms of ex-deals in cases when the endorsee might not have enough cash to pay for the talent fee of the endorser.
As most ex-deals are fair, others are lopsided, as neither camp cannot break free from the non-romantic commitment with the other. For instance, when Pretty Starlet (PS) found herself in a bind, Non-Showbiz Celebrity (NC) entered the picture and offered what he could to save PS from further embarrassment. While NC might have good intentions for PS, others have remained skeptical. After all, NC has been caught in controversies with a couple of actresses, but these issues died down when the camps kept quiet instead of engaging the speculators in a discussion.
So, why is the story between PS and NC refusing to disappear from the rumor mill? Well, PS does not have projects, so her source of income to pay for the services of NC remains vague. Thus, stories about them being together are being floated. However, NC has denied that such is their relationship, as he stressed that he is happily settled in his non-single life.
Denials have been issued and PS has remained quiet these past months. However, the story of them being together outside of professional matters was once again fueled when they were seen leaving a hotel somewhere south of the city. The two were spotted at around the usual check out time for hotels. PS was seen wearing shades as she left with NC. People who saw them wondered if companionship was part of the ex-deal between PS and NC.

Must Learn to Cope with Changes

Changes in upper management often affect decisions that can an impact on projects in the production department. While people operating significant positions in a network are changing, the production has attempted to maintain as much as it could so as not to disrupt the workflow. However, the decision to replace a talent in an upcoming teleserye was rumored to have come from new management.
Part of the lineup of the network is this project with Hot Actor (HA) that was supposed to pair him with his Performer Friend (PF). While HA and PF have done earlier projects that did not do well, their chemistry was expected to add a roller coaster ride of emotions in the project. As PF is known to be versatile, she can bring the light aura to the teleserye. The action and dramatic scenes can be left to HA, who is very competent.
HA was looking forward to working with PF again, but he got the surprise of his life when he found out that PF allegedly resigned from the project and was to be replaced with Controversial Talent (CT). PF cited scheduling as a problem, which was surprising, as schedules can always be fixed to accommodate the other commitments of stars. Besides, this project was a big one, and the opportunity to be included should not be allowed to pass.
Thus, HA felt that he was maligned with the change. As lead actor, he should have been at least asked or informed ahead. HA was quite frustrated that people noticed that he was all grumpy with the change. However, the rumor is that the change was brought about by the current position of CT in the network. CT is the current favorite of someone in upper management. With changes upstairs, the group that is backing up HA needed to take it easy, and not argue much about the change. They have more to lose if they throw their weight contrary to the decision of the management.
Why did HA react in this manner? He has worked with CT previously and they have gone through several trials. Of course, in these cases, it was HA who did not end in the ideal position. At any rate, with changes going on in the management, HA should be reminded that he is, painfully, a mere talent of the network. If the management decides to freeze his career or his projects, he will not be able to do anything. Further, if he wants to stay afloat, he has to learn to play the game.

China Outbids PH for 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup Hosting

Powerhouse China outbid Philippines for the rights to host the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup.
After a final pitch before the Fiba Central Board on Friday in Tokyo, Japan, the world’s basketball governing body granted China the privilege to host the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup.
China edged Philippines, which banked on the Filipinos’ passion for the sports and reach on social media in its bid for the hosting, with a presentation focusing on its strength in infrastructure, hosting experience, and resources.
The Chinese have hosted several international tournaments including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2010 Asian Games and the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics.
They will also host the upcoming 2015 Fiba Asia Championships.
China also boasted of holding the Fiba World Cup, which is held every four years, in eight keys cities which are easily connected by several forms of modern transportation.
“China never, never lets you down,” said Chinese Basketball Association President Yu Zaiging in the 20-minute presentation
The announcement of the hosting was initially scheduled for 5:25 p.m. Manila time but was moved to 6:15 p.m.
While the Filipinos rallied behind boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and Hollywood actor Lou Diamond Philips, China brought retired NBA player Yao Ming to bolster its bid.
China, a 15-time Asian champion, will be hosting the Fiba Worlds for the first time.

The couple exchanged vows in front of more than 70 family members and friends on Wednesday at their Bel Air, California, home, sources confirm to PEOPLE. "Guests were told it was a birthday party for Justin," says a source. "Jen and Justin wanted to surprise guests and guests were certainly surprised."
Reps for the couple did not immediately comment.
For the celebration, a large wooden deck was set up in the couple's backyard, filled with cozy nooks for lounging as well as elegant seating arrangements for 74 festooned with low, casual ottomans. A raised stage on one end, and a bar on the other, flanked the intimate setup.
The star-studded guest list included Friends pals Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, as well as Chelsea Handler, Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky Stern, Jason Bateman, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, Lake Bell and Scott Campbell, Terry Richardson, Jimmy Kimmel, Billy Crudup, Sia, Kathryn Hahn and Whitney Cummings.
Party staffers were spotted bringing in a large cake topped with two puppet characters, and a man who appeared to be a pastor was seen arriving on the grounds, according to TMZ.

Aniston, 46, and Theroux, 43, got engaged in August 2012 after more than a year of dating.
In June, the Cake star opened up to PEOPLE about her fiancé of almost three years.
"Justin was the best thing this decade," Aniston admits about her 40s.
She also gushed about him in July 2014, saying, "He gets better every year."
"He's just so beautiful and handsome to me," she said at a dinner honoring The Leftovers star. "He's just like a lost gem in the sand, and he's just always been there and been brilliant, and now this is just in a different light."
Theroux was equally as smitten with his longtime love, calling her "gorgeous" as he promoted his HBO series last year and admitting that their approach to marriage involved anything but cold feet. "We have hot feet," he joked.
As for Aniston's engagement ring, "I just think it's so beautiful," she told PEOPLE in June. "I've never had anything so big on my hand. But I love it because he picked it and put it into a setting and it's simple. It doesn't feel gaudy."
The Friends star added that Theroux may switch up his own chunky gold ring – which currently spells out his name – now that he's a married man.
"When we get married he will be wearing his ring. It just won't say Justin anymore," she said, adding that it may spell Jen "on the inside" instead.
The couple first met on the set of Tropic Thunder in Hawaii in 2008.
"We were friends for seven years. I replay when I met him then, but he wasn't a boyfriend," Aniston said. "It's funny to replay it because we weren't even anywhere in each other's realms of possibility."
The twosome, who costarred in 2012's Wanderlust and were first romantically linked in May 2011, "both have the same work ethic and love to bounce ideas off each other," a source told PEOPLE in March 2014. "Jen seems more confident than ever, and they've become a great team."
Added another insider: "It's amazing to see how happy Justin makes Jen."

Majority of the suppliers were paid and settled on the night of the event, some were issued checks (that were cleared, suppliers can attest to this) to cover for their corresponding payments. I will forever regret the lapses that I may have committed, as it affected a lot of people.
The recent Facebook post as well as the number of shares, likes, reposts, as well as the bashers who, unfortunately, included my whole family, affected us deeply. Dragging my family into this mess was uncalled for, as we are already in touch with the couple’s lawyer since the evening of the event.
We are also looking into seeking assistance with the Anti Cyber-Bullying task force to see if something can be done about the malicious comments that arose from the post, given the fact that there was a photograph of my whole family with my then 1 ½ year old daughter in it.
I am not convicted of any crime, nor am I running away from any authorities.
I am seeking for the kind understanding of everyone to at least, give me a chance to straighten things out. I have been in the Wedding Industry since 2010 handling over 100 couples. I am not a serial scammer, a fly-by-night Coordinator nor a thief.
We look forward to settling this legally, without having to ruin my name and my family. Please spare some thought for my family, most especially my 3 year old daughter who is starting to understand what is going on in our household. It pains me so much to see her suffering due to the fact that I haven’t been tending to her the way I do. I would like to take this opportunity to thank people who saw best not to comment nor repost. That small act means a lot to us. Please continue to pray for us as we try our best to pick up the pieces.
Finally, I would like to apologize to the couple for the pain this has caused. I understand that I may not gain your sympathy, but please know, from the bottom of my heart, that I am truly sorry for what happened.
