Since time immemorial, the entertainment industry has been besieged by all sorts of scandals and dirty labels. Accordingly, the industry and the people in it thrive on these controversies. The old adage that “good and bad publicity is still publicity” works to this day. Yet, it is said that to be able to survive in showbiz intrigues and scandals, one has to have a very strong stomach for them.

More than the work they do, the public is always interested in the star’s personal life, and everything in it. Which is why intrigues and gossips sell like hotcakes everywhere, be it in the office, wake, coffee shops, even churches – any place where people congregate.

Since competition is fierce, showbiz hopefuls wanting to gain entry in this crazy world opt to do the easier route - join reality “artista” searches. It thus becomes their valued passport. When they become famous, that’s when trouble begins. The loss of privacy is the kindest trade-off. But not when people start to bring you down and expose your perceived skeletons in the closet publicly, there lies the real battle.

This early, former reality Show Contender SC is allegedly someone “for hire” long before he even entered showbiz. Charging a whopping Php50 grand per booking, SC must have been really awesome! Reportedly, he has been at it since his college days as a school athlete. This from someone who had been with him back then.

SC’s colleague, Towering Guy TG who was associated with a popular clothing brand charged Php 40K per. Rich gays often exchanged notes when talking about him. They quipped that they didn’t mind paying TG’s rate because he’s super worth it if only for his overwhelming size and performance.

Now that the two are more financially stable with good projects to live by, reportedly, SC and TG still haven’t left the world’s oldest profession. Those privy said that the two can’t afford to say no what with their rates that have more than doubled. Uh oh..

Must Rethink Her Junky Attitude

When Promising Performer (PP) was launched in a teleserye, her network was surprised at the high ratings. Soon, PP was deemed next in line in the roster of talents the network was set to make into household names. However, when PP was enjoying much fame, her career seemed to slow down. A rumor even surfaced that PP had an unsuccessful enhancement operation that resulted in her career taking a setback.

Still, the network saw potential in PP and she was given big projects. However, the public got surprised when her character was written out of a recent soap. While PP profusely thanked the series for honing her acting skills, the question is still loud as to why she was pulled out. More glaring is that no news has been leaked as to her next project.

Allegedly, PP is showing an undesirable attitude, which might stall her career. PP should perhaps be smarter and not succumb to prima donna ways that can freeze her future. She should learn from what happened to Beautiful Actress (BA). BA was presented in highly publicized soaps, but her quick-lived fame could have gotten in her head. Thus, after her last project generated controversy, but not as much ratings, BA’s career is at a standstill.

By contrast, contemporary talent (CT) is enjoying a major boost in her career, which is now quite a distance away from PP’s career. CT has remained jovial and has so far won endearment from the fans of her loveteam. Given her alleged diva ways, will PP join the other talents in the backdrop because of her attitude? PP should think and change fast as the network has already announced it would launch the careers of two new talents. If these two prove to attract higher ratings and better box-office results, then PP might just be dismissed as the one who could have made it big, but just didn’t.
