Filipinos are very fortunate to have the privilege of affordable House help HH in their employ. HH's do make everybody's life a lot bearable and comfortable. More often, the work that they do for their masters is beyond the call of duty, even beyond the paycheck. Hence, it is but right to give these HH due attention and respect that they deserve.

Some HH 'though would prefer to work with rich families, perhaps thinking that they would get a better deal like higher salaries, substantial meals, better provisions. Some even dream to be employed by showbiz stars, getting thrilled to be living and breathing the same air with their celebrity masters, while rubbing elbows with their bosses' artista friends, too.

Oh well, nothing can be farther from the truth.

Unknown to most, working for some celebrities is not as fab as it sounds. Reportedly, some stars take on the stresses of their work to the hapless HH or assistants each time their emotions rule over them. We have heard they even hit their HH physically especially if they are under the influence of some substance. Also some HH are blinded that the big income of celebrities will translate to bigger pay for them. Argh, they better think again.

Contrary to perception, generally, celebrities' big paycheck does not guarantee the HH any leverage. In fact, most of them are even more tight-fisted than most ordinary people. Often, the tightwad is also the meanie.

Pretty Star PS is as busy as a bee with all sorts of projects coming her way. She is pictured as a model Mom who tends to her family despite her hectic schedules, giving them everything they need. Yet, at home with the HH, she is so mean as mean can be. Reportedly, PS' HH often go hungry - always eating late, and not eating enough.

HH who are friends with some Neighbors' Help NH tell them that not a day passes without them getting really hungry, because unlike other households where helpers have freedom in the kitchen, PS their boss does not allow that, for she has to know everything. It sounds like a food ration that is not even enough given the amount of work the HH have to do everyday.

Out of pity, some NH friends give them food, especially in the morning when HH has to finish tons of work first before they can eat breakfast. Oftentimes, it is PS drivers who have to clean the big cars in the morning who ask NH if they have something for them to eat - what a pity! Surely, these NH can relate and feel for their fellow and always are more than ready and willing to help.

And that's the talk of the town.

Careless Product Returns

Personality Entrepreneur (PE) made a name in entertainment as well as in socio-civic endeavors. Recently, she seemed to have taken a less strenuous path from the entertainment scene by choosing only to appear in a couple of shows in her network. This move is not surprising, as PE has invested more of her energy into her social and business projects.

One of the perks of having a reputable name is that PE can buy in bulk from a store that sells high-end authentic merchandise, such as t-shirts. The manager even extends PE with a number of days for the return of the merchandise she buys. The manager trusts PE because she has strong credibility like the rest of her family. Her family has a strong moral and virtuous image as far as the public is concerned.

Hence, like any usual transaction, PE returned some of the t-shirts. During the inventory, the manager noticed that some fakes were included in the returns. Upon investigation, the sales associate traced that the fake t-shirts were from PE’s returns.

Does PE know she returned fake merchandise? If she were unaware, then she might unwittingly have risked all that she has worked for, namely, her reputation in business. After all, this discovery of the manager might lead to PE being blacklisted by other merchants as well. The other question is why PE was in possession of fake t-shirts. Definitely, this incident can put PE to shame.
