Political Hopeful Ervic Vijandre Hurt by "Goons" while Campaigning
Inday Barretto's Parting Shot
Source: www.philstar.com
To set the record straight, Inday Barretto didn’t actually start the word war that has divided her family. Her explosive letter to Funfare published last week was her answer to the ugly exchange of messages on Instagram from unidentified parties but suspected to be either Gretchen or Claudine (with whom Inday sided), or their defenders/sympathizers that dragged into the fray other members of the family especially, including Inday’s son Jayjay who came to Gretchen’s defense and Inday’s US-based daughter Gia to Inday and Claudine’s defense.
Other non-family members, like Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films and Robbie Tan of Seiko Films, two companies where Gretchen has done movies, claimed that Gretchen is a good daughter who worked hard for her family. Actress Tanya Montenegro issued her own statement, also defending Gretchen.
Asked by Boy Abunda on The Buzz last Sunday how the whole mess would end, hopefully peacefully, Gretchen said in a statement, “I don’t see any possibility of a reconciliation.”
Here now is the last word (knock on wood!) from Inday who wants to put a period to what her letter has started:
This is to respectfully inform anyone curious and concerned that the first statement to Ricky Lo was supposed to put a stop, a plea in fact, to the allegations maligning my daughter Claudine in social media.
It was never my intention to prolong it into the World War III level
I am back for the last time, now the target of vicious lies and allegations, a leading lady to a teleserye of made-up stories.
I was warned that it is hard to win a war against those evil unless one is evil, too.
I should be afraid having no money and power to get legal assistance. Many offered to talk on my behalf, people not related but have been part of and witness to our family life.
And so having no need for a Limping Cockroach to come out from a hole for a glimpse of light, I stand up unafraid to correct these vicious lies.
To Tanya, you say you respect me. Please don’t — keep it— you need that for yourself. I don’t need respect from someone like you. I have plenty of it from where I come from.
I know who you are, what you are, but you shocked the world at how you could face the camera so professionally comfortable in lying to tell a story of more than 30 years ago as if you were there when it happened, as if you were part and parcel of our household when not even our cats and dogs know you — tsk, tsk, tsk! — lying to the hilt without batting an eyelash. Unless you were coached to read a prepared story.
No. 1: No, Tanya, it is never true that Gretchen’s tuition was not paid. School is top priority of our payables.
No. 2: No money for recess and lunch? I don’t even want to dignify you on that since you are not a dignified one.
No. 3: So you saw Gretchen with a bruise of black and blue? Do you want to insinuate that we did that to her? We have no history of violence. Don’t be dramatic. People might ask you to convince them some more and all these events of 30 years ago, huh?
To Mother Lily: Yes, Mother Dearest, it is true that I was the one who used to pick up Gretchen’s checks because she was a minor, remember? But it is not true what you said that you know that not a cent went to her.
The cents went to pay for, 1) car, 2) driver, 3) yaya, 4) gasoline, 5) food, 6) clothes, 7) and others (kulang pa).
I hope you understand being a mother, too. And by the way, we still have the contract we signed with you.
To Robbie Tan: Thank you, Robbie, for having given Gretchen more work because you thought she needed money for the family. But for your information and correction, at age 18 she was no longer with us because she was already living-in with Joey Loyzaga and our family was already in Iloilo. We did not use her money, period, same way you made good business from the projects you made for her. More power to you.
For the last time on Gretchen being the bread winner, this much I can say: How can she be when her father and I were alive and still are?
Accusations and lies that I want to address:
• Gretchen sent her siblings to school? Three of them were already out of school when she joined show business at age 14. The projects she had when she was still under my care were never enough to pay for our, 1) rent, 2) electricity, 3) food on the table and 4) pay for the schooling…all of them on that meager income?
• The bill for Mr. Barretto’s first heart attack was paid for from a health insurance. The second heart attack that required a bypass, yes, was paid by Tonyboy Cojuangco, something which Gretchen never made us forget. I went to the billing section to settle the bill. I was told that it had already been paid from a PLDT account.
We are eternally grateful to Tony for that sincere generosity.
Gretchen, yes, I am letting you go to set you free from the burden of being a part of our family. Whatever else you want to exact from us to buoy up your portrayal of a damsel in distress that got you the sympathy and brought you to where you are now? Be happy. At least from this squabble, the truth has finally come out from the talks that have been going on behind our backs about you being an abused child admitted by you when you made sumbat through what you made Jayjay sign.
Thank you that we are able to correct the lies before dad and I close our eyes and give back to your father the dignity he deserves for he really is an honest and principled person. Again, for your sake, to remind you with no apologies for the lack of classy cars, bodyguards and bling-blings, our house, our home was what gave you these: A roof over your head, food in your stomach, clothes on your back and the love and care that you think is lacking when you were a nobody and had nothing.
God be with you, as He is with us, now that the truth has set us free

Just His Ruffled Pride

What had triggered RS to get infuriated with FC? At the center of their feud was a very visible woman (VW)
of their network. Although FC seems to have a positive image owing to
his looks and charm on camera, but deep within, he is really someone who
can get on anyone's nerves.
According to
reliable sources, FC has always been cracking jokes at the expense of
VW, who by showbiz standards is not exactly good-looking. Often these
jokes were really off color that border on maligning VW's dignity. These
were dirty jokes - literally and figuratively speaking - and not even
fit to be played on any girl for that matter. One of these was when FC
allegedly placed dirty socks on the face of the sleeping VW in the
dressing room to wake her up. FC kept laughing, and when she hadn't woke
up yet, FC took pictures of her.
Seeing all these things happening regularly, both RS and VW took it all blindly and never protested to avoid complications. Allegedly, they were scared and felt that bad publicity can cost them their jobs. In contrast, FC is very confident bullying anyone he wishes feeling that he can always get away with it being a contract star of the network. He also believes he is loved by the public.

Allegedly, they were scared and felt that bad publicity can cost them their jobs. In contrast, FC is very confident bullying anyone he wishes feeling that he can always get away with it being a contract star of the network. He also believes he is loved by the public.
For the longest time, RS has witnessed the crassness
of FC towards VW who is very close to him. Just like VW, RS feels he is
“nothing” compared to FC's stature in the industry. However, it came
to a point that RS could no longer bear just watching from the
sidelines the abuses being done to VW. Thus one day, RS totally lost his
cool and physically hit FC. FC quickly reacted with the “victim
complex” and pressed charges against RS.
Fearful that she might lose her job, VW had not said
anything about the incident and how RS tried to defend her. Was she
advised not to say anything that could negatively impact on FC?
Some people say that even in
relationships, FC seems to have a loser attitude towards his past
affairs. Once the relationship is over, FC makes his former partner feel
as though they did not have a past who shared something special.
Reportedly, FC would hype up his feelings for his current girl perhaps
thinking that his ex was watching and would get jealous. Some ask, "Is
FC really that shallow? Is he not too old for that?"
To RS and VW
sympatizers, what RS did was just right to put the arrogant FC to his
place. The saying -The only way for evil to triumph is for good people
to do nothing - sums it all up. Sooner or later, no amount of good publicity can cover the truth of how one can be rotten in the core.
The greatest pride, or the greatest despondency, is the greatest ignorance of one's self. - Baruch Spinoza

Letter from a Reader: Your Money Will Fly
Dear Fashion PULIS,I cannot believe that from being an avid reader, I am actually now a letter sender! I just had this terrible experience recently and I wanted to share it with our FP community (yes, we are a community!) not just to complain but more to learn a lesson from our own experiences. I had already sent this email to their online support but I know your site and contacts reach far & beyond so that this feedback may reach the right people and avoid putting customers through the same experience. I'm not sure if it would be a concern putting the company's name and honestly I am just playing with the title to lighten up an otherwise dark mood so please feel free to edit as you see legally and FP fit.. Thank you for helping and entertaining FP! A day is not complete without you. =)
To whom it may concern,
On 12th of April, I tried to book a flight for my sister who wished to travel with her husband and kids back to the Philippines on the same day. I was able to successfully book a ticket under Reservation code: HECNBL.
When I thought everything was okay, a few hours later, she forwarded me the email below so I immediately called your reservations center which is based in the Philippines while we are here based in Singapore. The agent named Carol informed me that the ticket was voided because of your new policy that the credit cardholder should be part of the travelling party. I find these ridiculous as not everyone especially minors would have their own credit card. I had worked for a travel agency myself and never had I encountered this issue. Neither is it my first time to book tickets for other people.
I asked Carol for other options then. She told me to pay for the tickets through cash at a ticketing agency. I told her this is not an option as the only ticketing office in my area is far from my place and we are running out of time. She told me to ask a relative from the Philippines to pay at a ticketing agency on my behalf (seriously, do you think this is a good option to ask your customer to hassle other people from another country to fix this problem that was created by your company in the first place)? 45 minutes later in that international call we were still going around in circles. I asked her if its possible that since I am going to take them to the airport anyway, would you be able to hold the ticket and I'll pay for it personally (since she said that the reason for the cancellation was me being a 3rd party)? She said yes, the ticket would be valid again as long as I go with them and present my credit card and identification.
Imagine my relief and frustration as we did not need to spend and waste that time & charge to my phone bill but at the same time I had serious doubts with her product knowledge as she even kept calling me in a different name no matter how many times I told her my full name so I asked her to confirm as we don't want to end up with no tickets, no flight when we get to the airport. Suprise, suprise, what she had just advised is wrong.
I then had to beg her (as I had been asking for a supervisor several times now not long during the conversation) that I seriously need someone from higher authority to help me. After waiting, a supervisor took the call and advised me of the correct reason which was because of the card I used. I had a debit/credit card which I had been actually using as a Visa card for the longest time and never had any problems such as this but apparently your Treasury department doesn't accept such. I talked to her for a long time too but she cannot give me other options either. I told her that I have no choice but to book with another airline then since that is the only card I can use. She advised that I can try to book again using the same card but she cannot guarantee that it wouldn't encounter the same problem.
Book another ticket for the same passenger using exactly the same card, why would the result be different this time?? Is it wise for a supervisor to give such advise that would have created a bigger and surely "double trouble" for the customer?? I asked her then to just make sure that the value charged be credited back to my account so I can use it to book another ticket with another airline even if it means my sister would be separated from her husband and two small kids. She said I need to call my bank to check.
I called my bank and they said the value was still floating and they haven't received any advise yet regarding a refund/released. I called he airline again and talked to another agent and another supervisor explaining everything again for another 30-40 minutes of international call. As you can imagine I am very upset and disappointed by this time. They had advised me it would take 15-30days to refund my money. They cannot give me any other option anymore and kept advising over and over again that if I want the refund to be expedited, I should contact online support which really wouldn't help me book that ticket on that day, wouldn't it?
So to better improve your customer experience, here are my main point of concerns:
1) If the card I used was invalid for such transaction, the card should have been declined in the first place. Because if you look at it from a customer's point of view, it clearly is some sort of cheating: I process my transaction, it successfully goes through, you send me a confirmation, I rest easy thinking my itinerary is okay, you send me an email of cancellation, then inform me the money wouldnt be refunded for another 15-30days for international cards. Does that sound right to you?
If you cannot accept my card, then don't take my money. If you cannot improve the system to automatically filter these type of cards, then make sure your system is efficient enough to automatically release the authorization hold. Last time I checked my card the amount is still on hold status. To be honest that was the only cash I had left. The only card I can use. It was about 5 in the afternoon already when I gave up on your agents and I had to rush and find cash that I can put in my card so I can find another airline and book another ticket for a flight that night. Please imagine the horror if this happened to your customer who has no access to cash or card and that was the only money she had left.
2) Customer experience is still the best and the worst marketing you could get. No matter how good your products are, how good and affordable the prices and how many promotions and offers you advertise, the very core of any company is their customers and their manpower. I had worked in the customer service industry and I personally would be scared to take calls if I am not confident that I am armed with good product knowledge.
If you are new and or haven't encountered such situations yet, find the right answers for the customers instead of giving them false answers just so you could get rid of them. Unfortunately, that is the very impression I got from all the agents and supervisors that I talked to, they just want to finish the call and get me off their backs with no sincere purpose to help me. So aside from the money that was held, I have yet to see my phone bill with more or less 2hours of international call charges.
3) You may want to revisit your new policy regarding the 3rd party payment though if it really is a new policy as advised by the first agent. We are in an era where convenience is one of the priorities and selling points. Not everybody believes in the system of credit cards, nor everybody is qualified to get one e.g. minors, newly-hired employees, etc. There are other ways to protect and avoid fraudulent transactions without ruining your customer's experience.
I want to put all this behind and may this feedback help your company in any way it can. It would also be appreciated if you could expedite the release of my money on my card. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Floren

The 24K Saga
Real friendships in showbiz can be quite a challenge to wish for. Everyone is competitive and aspiring for the same goal as anyone. The new famous can be quite gullible and fall victim to the manipulative veterans. In the long run, as players learn to interact with each other, the system slowly gets processed in the minds of the nouveau. Therefore, maintaining friendships in showbiz requires tact, creativity and foresight - depending on one’s intention.
Wasn’t it just years ago when controversial personality CP and media celebrity MC were friends so close that they even had a show together? Both had much in common, supported each others’ advocacies and covered each other’s backs, so to speak – at least in the eyes of the public.
However, even the closest of relationships clash, and theirs was not spared. Family pressures and personal interests got in the way to what was once a seeming sisterly love between them.
MC’s close loved one LO had a career path that was seriously and carefully planned for years. It was to be his life’s milestone and family legacy laid down pat. LO’s plans was public knowledge. MC’s support for LO was beyond question and CP supported it. And why not? Both MC and CP were part of that endeavor, too: CP’s family member FM and LO were partners.
But as fate would have it, something major came up with CP’s family that prompted her and FM to make monumental decision. The decision that gravely affected and jeopardized LO’s cherished plan and career trajectory. What was supposed to be like an exciting ballgame suddenly went pfft – kaput - nada.
Most people say CP’s shrewed and opportunistic nature were in the active mode, and allegedly used it to her and her family’s advantage. As a consequence, CP and MC relations soured big time – with MC having more axe to grind for CP’s alleged “betrayal.” Their falling out went from bad to worse, as CP tried to show no remorse at all that further aggravated MC’s wounded feelings.
Needless to say, CP’s insensitivity and apathy complicated their feud. Their friends could only shake their heads and thought the two were getting more irreconcilable by the day. CP even went overboard by making friends with tv host TH, MC’s decades-long nemesis. TH became CP’s constant companion along with other network stars in her out of town missions.
When MC took a leave from work to help in LO’s mission, TH became her replacement. After the duration of her leave, MC tried to return to where she left off, but things were made difficult for her to do so. Their department head DH was more inclined in keeping TH there. Insider talks ‘though alleged that CP had a hand in it.
Finally, MC’s trouble eased when DH resigned and was replaced by a friendlier colleague FC, who eventually eased out TH from MC’s work and relegated somewhere else. MC got her work back with a vengeance, so to speak. The show had a grand makeover, as if heralding her return.
As if fate was playing tricks, amid career highs, CP’s personal life suffered setbacks one after another, such that the biggest blow besmirched her reputation that necessitated her to appear on MC’s show. Understandably, CP specifically requested for another media man MM to interview her, and not MC. Intentionally or not, MC tried to downplay all the brouhaha and dismissed everything as an ordinary news item. Thus the expected impact got lost on CP.
Surely the spectacle of that interview paled in comparison to something that was unseen but felt at that very moment. At that point, MC can rightfully claim that she, among everyone, had the last laugh.

Question: Is Marian Rivera Going to be the Next Kapatid?
Image courtesy of Facebook: Marian Rivera fan page
Marian’s contract with GMA will expire in September this year, and from all indications, there’s likelihood that a renewal is not forthcoming. There are talks going around that a major shift is in the horizon. From very reliable sources, Marian's new manager is negotiating with TV5 for a cool 120Million package for a 3-year period. Marian is reportedly very keen on the idea.
Note that to this day, Marian remains very close to her former boss, Wilma Galvante, GMA’s Senior VP for Entertainment and now TV5’s current Head of Entertainment Division. Mr. Tuviera whose TAPE Productions also produces Eat Bulaga aired over GMA has siblings who have transferred to TV5 and are now producing shows there. Marian's favorite director, Mac Alejandre is also with TV5.
All signs factored in, is it safe to conclude that Marian’s transfer to TV5 is becoming more and more imminent by the day?
It was reported that Marian is very excited with all the fresh developments coming her way ever since she made that major management leap. Her excitement is even more highlighted by her joining the world of social media - finally!
Marian who is now a proud Instagram account holder with user name "thereal marian" is thrilled to do her thing in the photo-sharing network - her first ever social-networking account.
Are we about to see some “signing” photos soon? Que sera sera.

Letter from a Reader: Her Asking Price

Allow me to share with you my personal sentiments as an avid fan of a once innocent and wholesome celebrity that I knew back then.
I have always been fascinated with this famous actress FA ever since I saw her first few movies as a child star. Her innocent beauty was a sight to behold even then. Through the years I saw her transformation slowly blossomed before the public, with her acting talent noticeably getting polished. Her management sure did a good job bringing her to where she is now.
She was a work in progress, slowly but surely climbing her way to the top. Through the years, the smart and ambitious girl in her learned the ropes, the most basic of trade secrets in the industry, cutting corners and the like. Her successful movies in the box office are sure fire signs that she really has what it takes to be in this industry. Hard work, luck and destiny seemed to conspire to bring her to stardom. Lucky girl.
But as a fan, I’m slowly getting to be disillusioned by FA’s recent antics. I thought her enviable fame and fortune would have humbled and tamed her. I know I’m not alone in this - of late, FA’s antics, her many indecent photos, outfits and scandals all scream public attention to herself. Why? Seems nothing can make her content because she’s always hungry for attention.
Now, more and more I am inclined to discourage a niece of mine who also happens to be FA’s big fan, not to be so into FA anymore as a role model . What is there to get inspired by anyway? FA is often acting delusional that she can always get away with anything because we allow her to. For me, she has lost that appeal for the young to emulate.
Because of my deep or probably blind admiration for her in the past, I chose to forget some very nasty things I knew about FA back then when she wasn’t yet that popular - as told to me by an eyewitness friend EF of mine who was privy to FA’s past.
EF worked for a top businessman who had several foreign clients and associates coming in and out of the country for regular meetings and business stuff. Needless to say that after the heavy stuff, came “fun and entertainment,” too. Being new in the job then, EF was shocked to be so casually summoned by her boss to contact a certain person to follow up on the invitation for FA to be with his business associates, most of whom were Chinese, for an entertainment that night.
Although completely stunned and dumbfounded, EF tried to restrain herself and went on with the process. That night at a specified venue, while the meeting was still on- going, somebody came into the room and announced that FA had arrived - ironically earlier than her call time. And not long after, right at the door, my friend EF saw FA in the flesh, scantily dressed and smiling at those old dirty old men who all looked like vultures waiting to devour her.
Her asking fee? P1M /pax/ night.
A few more of these encounters here and abroad, EF had enough and had since left the job.

Are the Ladies Really Gravely Addicted to His Moves?
All things being equal, the man who is more physically attractive gets to have more perks in almost any situation – they are more desired, get paid more, higher self-esteem - like it or not, beauty connotes positivity.
It's not just about being tall, dark and handsome. There are special 'manly' qualities about guys that can make any woman fall over her knees. And it’s definitely not just about the looks, there's more. It's a surefire mix of both, physical attributes and all that important special touch.
Talented Actor TA's boyish appeal and to-die for cuteness was no doubt his and his alone. TA's fresh as a morning face had sent not a few beautiful women to go crazy, drool and follow him wherever. TA was definitely up on the popularity quotient – anything that moved adored him. He had it all: fame, impeccable confidence, sense of humor, charm. Oh well, this is about throwback of two decades.
So how is TA rating now? Well, he is still the same attractive man despite the years. People young and old still get hyper in his presence. Surprisingly, most of the women in his life haven’t gone out of oblivion. They still are desirable and controversial than ever, two of them very controversial.
TA for all his charm and appeal is not perfect and has “shortcomings” too. But make no mistake, he sure knows how to make up for it in that department. Ever the woman pleaser, TA's memories remain enduring to his many exes. He maybe publicly displaying love and affection towards his wife, but he knows how to have fun, too.
From among many, TA has a list of unforgettables as well. He and this younger award winning actress YA had an episode while working on a project as well as this other beautiful older actress OA. Both women are said to have gone mad over TA – and vice versa.
Indeed, some good things never last … to this day.
