Cheapipay (Cheapskate)

A cheapskate is a stingy person who tries to avoid paying a fair share of costs or expenses. In Filipino slang, we call this kind of person as "cheapipay".

I don't mean to toot my own horn but my friends can definitely attest to this. Whenever I am dining with them, as much as possible, I try to reach for the bill first when it arrives. If I were joining a group of people that I am not so familiar with for dinner, what I do is I  initiate to put in more money for what I have ordered to avoid the awkward computation. When it comes to footing the bill, I am proud to say that I am not "cheapipay" unlike this female celebrity in today's blind item.

This female celebrity prefers to hang out with friends (male or female) who automatically reaches for the bill when it arrives. She enjoys the company of generous people who do not worry about who ordered what, and who would gladly pay for her dinner and drinks. What is worse is that when the bill is delivered to the table, she does not even make a show of reaching into her designer purse.

Do you know who this female celebrity is? Open your eyes widely and I am sure you will find the answer.

I would like to request you to observe the guidelines in posting comments. Please follow micsylim on Twitter if you need additional clues on the female celebrity.

Sightseeing in Vienna, Austria

This morning, we took the Vienna U-Bahn (underground railway) to the Schönbrunn Palace. The queue this morning was not as bad unlike seven years ago when I was here with my mom.

The Pink Panther?

Someone once told me that the formula for computing if a woman is a cougar or not is by dividing her age by two plus seven. Following the formula, a 50 year old woman is considered as a cougar if she is in love with a man who is 32 years old (50 divided by 2 plus 7) or younger.

If a cougar is an older woman who loves younger men and the rhino is an older man who loves younger women, what do we call an older man who loves younger men? Does anyone have a suggestion?

Well, due to the lack of a better term, let us just call him the television host. The male television host who is madly love with a man that is almost 50 years old younger than he.

In a recent event, a colleague in the industry spotted this male TV host kissing the screen of his mobile phone. When this colleague finally had a chance to take a peek at the host's mobile phone, he was shocked when he saw that the host's screen saver is the photo of a young actor who is not even twenty years old.

According to a source, this host is head over heels in love with this young actor. Most of the time, he would even take a cab to his shows because the young actor is using his car. He is also said to be the one taking care of the medical bills of the young actor's sick mother.

Do you know who this male television host is? How about the young actor? Due to the sensitivity of this story, I would like to request you to observe the guidelines in posting comments. No initials will be allowed! Also, since I am currently overseas, it will take me longer than usual to approve your comments.

Please follow micsylim on Twitter if you need additional clues on the host and the young actor. Thank you very much for always supporting Fashion PULIS. Continue to send your juicy stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com.

A Day in Bratislava, Slovakia

Since we have seen Vienna before, we made a spur of the moment decision yesterday to take a train from Vienna's Sudbahnhof (South Train Station) to visit Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Bratislava is just an hour train ride away from Vienna. A round trip train ticket costs 14 Euro. Not bad!

I was devastated when my brand new Rimowa luggage arrived in Vienna with a giant dimple. I strongly discourage you from getting one. It is so not worth it!

Free Styling

After flying for more than eight hours, we finally arrived in the Doha International Airport. We are currently in Qatar Airways' lounge waiting for our flight to Vienna that leaves in an hour. While waiting for our flight, I thought of making wise use of my time and write a short blind item for today.

This name of this top female stylist has not been mentioned as much ever since her favorite client became less visible on television. Worried of losing her popularity, she approached this female television host and offered her free styling services for her Sunday talk show. Upon hearing this, the host immediately replaced her stylist who has been working with her for years.

Do you know who this female stylist is? Kindly observe the guidelines in posting comments. Please follow micsylim on Twitter if you need additional clues. Thank you very much for visiting Fashion PULIS. Do not forget to send your juicy stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com.

Letter from a Reader: Failed Second Chance

Dear Fashion PULIS,

For the past few weeks, some relatives of mine have been distressing over a fashion crisis. I want to make it clear though that in the past, they had no problems when they had dresses made by this retail store.

These relatives of mine are from New York City. They come to the Philippines once a year for vacation. Last June, my aunt went to this retail store to look for the designer who used to make their dresses because they needed to order some dresses for her youngest daughter’s wedding.

Since the designer whom my aunt used to work with was unavailable, she agreed to work with this other designer that the retail store was suggesting. Days after handing the Chantilly lace that my aunt bought from Paris to the designer, she discovered from some friends that this designer was recently involved in a fashion controversy. My aunt believed that this designer deserves a second chances and she also wanted to help him so she was not bothered at all with what she heard.

Fast forward to the first week of August, my aunt scheduled flight back to New York was fast approaching and the dresses still needed a lot of work even after three fittings. Much to her surprise, the designer did not even use the Chantilly lace that my aunt turned over to him. She asked him repeatedly where her fabrics are but he never gave any reply.

Apart from the missing fabric, my aunt was also very disappointed with the designer's lack of courtesy and decorum. He does not show up for scheduled fittings, and arrives late when he finally decides to show up. One time, when my aunt invited him for snacks after one of the fittings, the designer after asking for wifi connection from the server just sat there and played with his ipad, ignoring the presence of my aunt.

My 72 year old aunt was so depressed during those times when she was worry about the final outcome of the dresses. She was also concerned if the dresses will be ready in time for the wedding.

Thankfully, the owner of the retail store finally interfered and he was able to help us save four dresses. After our meeting with him, he immediately instructed his people to focus on our problems.

At present, my aunt is back in New York and she was able to bring the dresses with her thanks to the owner of the retail store. Until now, my aunt is still very upset with the traumatic experience she had with this delinquent designer.

Thank you FP for posting my letter. I hope whenever one of your readers is thinking of giving this designer a second chance, he/she should remember the sad story of my aunt.

Yours Truly,
Tedrick Yao

Announcing the Winners for the BonChon Contest

Shines Like a Star

One day, when this veteran actress went shopping in a high end jewelry store, she saw this particular piece of jewelry that she adored. She decided to purchase it so she handed her credit card to the sales associate (SA). The SA had to excuse himself after receiving her credit card because he had to process the transaction inside the office.

When the SA stepped out of the office, he was surprised when the guard informed him that the actress and her personal assistant (PA) left the store abruptly. The SA had to go through the database of the store to get hold of the actress' mobile number. When he was finally able to reach her, the actress handed the phone to her PA. The PA told him that the actress wants him to deliver the item and her credit card to her house the following day. She added further that the actress hates signing charge slips in public and would rather do it in the comfort of her own home.

Do you know who this veteran actress is? I will give you a clue. She loves to wear pieces of jewelry with diamonds because she feels that she shines like a star whenever she wears them.

Kindly observe the guidelines in posting comments. Please follow micsylim on Twitter if you need additional clues on the actress. Thank you very much for visiting Fashion PULIS. Do not forget to send your juicy stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com.

Must Be. . .

When this singer was overseas, he made it point to drop by this world-famous bake shop to buy a box of its renowned cupcakes as "pasalubong" for his long time crush. He hand-carried the box of cupcakes on the plane and personally delivered it to her house when he got back in Manila.

To show her appreciation to the kind gesture of the singer, she became physical with him. She started touching and hugging him. When her hand finally reached the crotch area of the singer, she began to fondle it. After touching it for a few minutes she finally gave up when she realized that it was not reacting to her stimulation. After this incident, she was finally convinced that the singer's rumored questionable sexuality must be true.

I know it would be relatively easy for most regular FP readers to guess who this singer is. So instead, let me give you a clue on the identity of his crush. She is this beautiful actress/model who was the former girlfriend of an actor.

Letter From a Reader: Restaurant Discriminates Diners Using Group Coupons

Dear Fashion Pulis,

First of all, I just want to say that I’m a big fan of your blind items and I can’t wait to read more items from you! Since I’ve read some of the letters from your readers, I too would want to share my experience to all the readers of Fashion Pulis.

I know that many of the readers know about the group coupons or the different promos sold online at a really low price. My sister and I would always check on the latest promos from different websites for my family to visit during weekends. Last Sunday, my family and I went to Galleria just so we can redeem the vouchers we bought online and eat in this dimsum place that has many other branches. We are aware that if we plan to use the vouchers, we should call their branch for reservation. We didn’t call because few weeks ago we went there as walk in and used the vouchers and it was okay for them.

When we went there last Sunday, there were only a few people eating there but still they did not entertain us. The waiter told us that we should reserve first before they entertain us. It was a weird thing to say since there were around 6 vacant tables and only few people were eating. To put an end on the argument, my sister got her landline phone and called them on the phone. She was already standing in front of the counter but no one was answering her calls. We were all annoyed that time because how can we reserve if we can't even contact their landline. After 3 attempts, she asked the waiter why we can’t contact their landline and that was the only time they checked if their landline was working or not. On the 4th attempt, finally the phone rang. The cashier answered the call and insisted that they won’t entertain us because we have no reservation. We got really irritated because we’re calling just so they won’t give us the reason that we didn’t make any reservation. To make things easier, my sister went in front of the cashier to talk to her. We were surprised because she was raising her voice and eyebrows while arguing with my mom and sister.

The cashier of this resyaurant told us that they don’t entertain walk-ins during ”store hours”. Out of frustration my sister told them “So kelan kami pupunta? Kapag sarado na kayo??” then the cashier told us that they can only entertain us from 2pm-5pm because of the reservations for that day. My sister asked how many reserved and what time. The cashier then told us that there was no reservation. My sister then argued that the cashier was a liar because of the reason she gave us. But to end the tension, we just told them that we’ll just go back around 2pm if that’s what they want.

When we went back to the restaurant at around 2pm, no one even entertained us. They were just looking at us for more than a minute. I got so annoyed so I went in front of the waiters just so they would feel conscious and entertain us, but still no one bothered to approach us and give us a place to sit. After standing in front of them for almost 2 minutes, I just went to as vacant table and called my dad and brother for us to eat. Even if we’re calling the attention of the waiters, no one was getting our order. Since the promo we purchased was just for dimsum, I just got food from their dimsum cart since I felt they have no plans of serving us. When they saw us eating their dimsum, that was the only time they approached us and asked us about our additional orders. After consuming the 8 dimsum orders, we wanted an additional order using another voucher. They told us we can’t use another voucher because we are only allowed to use 1 voucher per visit. But as stated in the terms and condition:

· One (1) voucher per person per visit
· For group use, a maximum of three (3) vouchers may be combined.

To make the long story short, this restaurant changed the terms and conditions that were already written in the voucher. They would also make customers feel unwelcome. They really have bad service. To add to that, my sister called the Glorietta branch of this restaurant last Monday to check if we can redeem the remaining vouchers we bought and they were very accommodating and accepts walk in any time of the day. She also called the Galleria branch just to check if they would accept our reservation, but they made another excuse that they do not accept customers who will use vouchers on weekdays. When my sister called the company where we bought the promo, they told her that they have received a lot of calls complaining about the bad services of restaurants similar to the one we visited.

I really hope that their branch would change the way they treat customers and stick to the terms and conditions that was given. We have no plans of going back there since we don’t want to experience the bad service they are giving their customers.

Yours Truly,
Adi

Spotted: Young Actress Drunk and Rowdy in Eastwood

Last Tuesday night, this young actress was spotted drunk and rowdy in Eastwood. Can you recognize her based on the blurred photo? Let me give you a clue if you cannot identify her. This young actress is the daughter of an actor.

I wonder why she was over drinking that night? Is it because she is having problems with this hunk actor who was spotted checking in a hotel with her recently? I am referring to this actor who appeared on a reality television show around five years ago.

Please follow the guidelines in posting comments. I suggest that you follow micsylim on Twitter if you need additional clues. Kindly continue to email your juicy stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com.
