Friends with Benefits - Senior Edition

Woman Advocate WA and Public Servant PS have met and known each other on the strength of their common advocacy.
Both are multi-awarded public figures in their respective fields.
PS is a passionate mover and inspire people that made a big difference in his region. WA on the other hand is a no-nonsense achiever and influencer. Both have become a force to reckon with.
Their work and advocacy campaigns have taken them on many travels together, alongside addressing major issues and struggles that go along with it. Consequently, both WA and PS have developed a certain degree of closeness and have become strong political allies as well. Some have even labelled them as Godfather and Godmother, respectively.
Inspite of their public welfare causes, WA and PS were not spared from public criticisms for their stand on major controversial issues. Amid all of these, WA and PS remained strong acting as one. More than anything, their relationship has gone a notch higher - if you know how to read between the lines.
That being said, all work and no fun makes anyone dull - and WA and PS have been mixing work and fun since then.
WA may appear as strict and straightforward to her subordinates but those privy to her know only too well that she has a naughty side, too. She was once rumored to be taking care of a "shrimpy" hunk SH of a minion, wonder if they are still together now. According to the grapevine, just as WA is intense with her work, she is as intense when she falls in love - likes everything sexy and fun - abhors anything dry and boring.
Is this why WA finds PS irresistible, who despite his age is so alive and kicking and always at the peak of performance? Just how deep is their affection for each other? Apart from all the support WA had extended to PS, she reportedly donated a cool P60M moolah to his recent campaign - how cool is that?

A Calming Murmur to My Sadness

Deeply rooted within us is the desire to be happy. Our whole being will
never desire sadness or rejection. However, the fact is that everything
in life exists along with its opposites. The degree of sadness may be
mild or intense depending on how strongly we identify with it.
Everyone, regardless of status has in more ways than one experienced extreme sadness in her/his life. This happens even for no reason at all. It is but natural, psychiatrists would say. And yet, it could be depression, too. There are many ways to address this. Some indulge in what helps them the most like the arts, music, drama. But when one feels very sad, it really helps to talk to someone. It's as if a weight has been lifted off your chest.
Even at the peak of her career, big celebrity BC had her share of melancholy moments. One may think that it could be caused by too much stress brought about by her huge status and other personal factors. Often, BC would just stare blankly into space amidst all the noise and klieglights around.
Those episodes never left her. In fact such even escalated as she matured and had bigger responsibilities and issues to face. But each time, she had a favorite “go to” person - this happens to be a very good-looking fellow actor FA. Allegedly, everytime BC felt extreme sadness, she would long for FA to talk and unload her sentiments to, and within just minutes with him even on the phone, BS would feel a sudden high, a lift of energy that she needed at that point. Yes, FA seemed to have that healing power over her.
To this day, BC who has become more distressed and uncertain with her life and career, allegedly, it is still FA whom she seeks and talks to. Whether it is pure friendship that binds them both, no one can tell. All we know is that BC had long wanted that they do a movie together. Yet, for one reason or another – it never happened.

Letter from a Reader: Cofradia is Racist
Dear Fashion PULIS:
I have been recently introduced to your blog and enjoy your fun way of writing immensely, especially the quotes at the end of every article. Anyways, I am furnishing you a copy of a letter I sent to MTRCB regarding my gripe about ABS-CBN's sorry excuse for a new soap 'Cofradia', hoping that you might perhaps help me proliferate it by publishing it on your blog and help start a healthy dialogue.
This is the letter I sent to MTRCB to lodge my complaint against the planned made-for-TV revival of the movie Cofradia. Please share.

My name is Noa Herrera, a Filipino citizen currently residing in Honolulu, HI. I am writing you this letter to express my concern and strong indignation over ABS-CBN’s plan to revive the movie ‘Cofradia’ for television as has been widely reported and discussed in social media. Now as I recall, the original movie and its subsequent revivals’ plot centered around a girl who was heavily frowned upon and lived a recluse all her life because of her ‘black skin’. She then becomes ‘beautiful’ upon the discovery of a magical candle that transforms her black skin into white when it is lit. This line of thinking is awfully Neandarthal, outdated and racist beyond salvation. I cannot even begin to describe how much it offends me. Not only will it not be sending the greatest of messages to Filipino children and to the Filipino population at large, but it will also only rub salt to the wound in a culture that already suffers from a senseless but widespread obsession with whiteness and fair skin. ABS-CBN is the country’s largest network and will most likely air this abominable piece of ‘work’ on their global arm TFC. It will be an embarrassment for Filipinos the world over. I am incensed by this prospect and so should every Filipino who is capable of thought. I am vehement in my indignation and will do everything I can to bring as much attention to this matter until it is rectified. But for now, I am leaving it to your noble office and the capable heads that occupy it to discuss, decide and hopefully take the appropriate action.
