Confusing Gossip

The quiet life of Apprehensive Woman (AW) suddenly changed when social media started a buzz. As AW was involved, she could not help but react in an attempt to return to her peaceful existence. Despite her trusting nature, AW could not just dismiss what had reached her.

AW immediately took solace among her friends and admitted that she would not be able to handle if the gossip turns out to be true. Friend 1 (F1) said that AW should pray over it and that she was just encountering fake news. Further, F1 threw her full support to AW’s family. Friend 2 (F2) had parallel views. F2 can relate as she has been dragged into a similar rumor and that she paid the third party to keep quiet. F2 added that AW has to confront the issue head on and if what she dreads is real, then she has to accept the situation. Finally, the time came when AW thought she could ask the Concerned Individual (CI) about the rumor. CI did not say anything. Paranoia increased when someone said that circulating videos were not recent.

Incidentally, the rumor allegedly started when Close Pal (CP) was asked about the whereabouts of His Friend (HF). CP said HF was still in bed given her delicate condition. The people who heard CP took his story seriously and probed into the identity of the father. The incident went out of control, as CI and HF were often seen together. Soon, the rumor reached and jolted AW.

Hard Slap

Other than the stars of a series or a movie, a drawing factor that keeps viewers hooked is the execution of physical scenes. Given that the usual formula of local teleseryes involves high emotions, a level of violence is often included. In the case of a project that has women characters, their rivalry escalates from fiery dialogue to slapping or even a fight scene.

To make slapping scenes believable, actors rehearse to avoid unnecessary hurt and if they can do it smoothly by cheating. Camera angles and good coordination can add to the believability of a slap.

Sometime ago, a social media post revealed the alleged sentiments of Female Talent (FT) over a scene with Another Talent (AT). The scene called for a slap coming from AT. FT prepared herself for the scene and was confident that the execution would be done well. Unfortunately, FT received a hard one and felt the slap was too real.

Apparently, that take was not just done once and even if FT said that the slap was already too hard, AT continued the same intensity. FT was agitated as her face was already bruised. In acting, professionalism is expected and FT can only calm herself down despite the pain.
