As they say, karma is fast. When Proud Performer (PP) found out that her favored song for the production number was assigned to Emerging Singer (ES), she vowed not to let that happen. During the planning for a difficult segment of a show, the production team decided on the songs for the performers to sing. The decision was based on the capability of each performer. When the lineup was finalized, the musical arrangements were fixed for the performers.

ES and the rest of the performing team were excited with their songs that are considered classics. However, PP was not at all elated when she saw her song. She said she does not have a feel for the song assigned to her and added that she was not challenged as the range was below her skills. The production team said they can have the arrangement made higher to satisfy her. She then asked for the songs of her fellow performers and when she saw the one for ES, she insisted on singing that song.

ES is a newcomer in the field, but is already gaining followers because of her vocal range. She can even do a better rendition of a certain style that PP is known for. The production team told PP that the song was already arranged for the vocal skills of ES. PP refused to accept that reasoning and said that she can do better than ES. To avoid trouble, the song was given to PP. Meanwhile, ES did not complain when she was informed of the change of her song.

During rehearsals, the performers gave their best and the practice seemed to be a showdown of reaching the high notes. When PP heard a senior performer, she requested for the key to be moved up. Apparently, she wanted to outshine everyone regardless of seniority.

The day of the show came and to delight the audience, the number was done live. Confidently, PP went on stage and did her best, which was an epic fail. When the high notes came, PP missed it. She allegedly ran out of breath, as she was attempting to do something that was not at all talked about during the rehearsal. After the performance, one of the singers said that the faux pas on live television was a classic example of karma. The song was not for PP, but she took it away from someone who was not even wanting to compete.
