Just Showing Off the Right Manner

Celebrities know that appearing in corporate events is quick money and if they are lucky, an hour or so of performance can earn them the equivalent of many shooting days. Hence, celebrities often grab such opportunities. Nonetheless, younger celebrities have not understood the deeper implication of performing in such instances.

A company has been inviting many celebrities to grace their gathering. Of course, such appearances are well paid. This year, the company chose Female Singer (FS), Talented Actor (TA), and Professional Performer (PP). The first to sing on stage was FS. While waiting at the backstage, FS was approached by a Company Employee (CE). CE requested for a photo with FS, but she declined and excused herself as she was going to be called onstage. Unknown to FS, the person she turned down happened to be one of the big bosses of the company.

When FS went on stage, the crowd was disappointed as she was merely lip-syncing. Then, she would remind the crowd how many songs she had left. The second and third songs passed like a breeze, and that was it. FS just wanted to get off the stage immediately. Instead of playing the crowd, she just sang and did not even bother to interact with the intimate crowd. She said her goodbye and left.

Prior to TA going onstage, the crowd was pepped up and hoped that TA would be friendlier and make up for the lackluster showing of his co-worker, FS. Flowers were prepared for TA to give to selected members of the audience. Unfortunately, TA broke their hearts. He sang and exited at the wing without even saying goodbye.

Finally, PP had the stage all by himself. Before he could sing, he apologized, as he was under the weather. He added that the show must go on and that was why he continued. Even though he had a hard time singing, he continued giving energy to his performance. The crowd was impressed and he even gave away the flowers that was supposed to be for TA’s number. As if having the crowd cheering for him was not enough, PP made a surprising announcement. He said that he would not mind being invited again the following year and he might even do it for free, as he was only at his half-energy.

The management realized the reason why PP has the staying power in the industry. That night, PP won the hearts of the audience and earned their respect. By contrast, even if SA and TA are known to be living on the aftermath of personal crises in their former relationships, they did not even show the professionalism that PP exhibited.
