Despite their apparent affection for each other, Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson are no longer a couple -- at least for now, according to the "Kasal" actress.
Alonzo and her leading men in the Star Cinema production, Paulo Avelino and Derek Ramsay, were taking turns answering whether they're ready to get married (after the film's title), when the 30-year-old actress made the candid admission.
"Hindi sa ngayon," Alonzo told ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe on Tuesday, when asked if she and Anderson are still together.
Prompted to clarify if she is single, Alonzo answered: "Technically. But of course we're talking, we're okay."
Avelino, who was next to answer the question on being ready for marriage, quipped that Alonzo's situation seems complicated.
To this, Alonzo shot back: "Magulo talaga, huwag niyo intindihin! Bakit ba? Akin 'yun, e!"
Interestingly, in an episode of the morning talk show "Magandang Buhay" aired Tuesday, Alonzo received a handwritten letter from Anderson, who referred to her as his "teenage crush."
Referring to Anderson during her interview, Alonzo said: "In fairness mapadala siya ng bulaklak at ma-note. Thank you, thank sa letter and thank you for always being there."
It is unclear whether the "Magandang Buhay" episode with Alonzo was taped before or after the Kapamilya star became "technically" single.
Short-lived sweethearts until they parted ways in 2010, Alonzo and Anderson re-connected romantically in 2016 when they were paired in the big-screen romcom "How to Be Yours."
Since then, they had been rumored to have reconciled, until early this year, when Alonzo sparked rumors of a breakup after she un-followed both Anderson and his "My Perfect You" leading lady Pia Wurtzbach on Instagram.
Alonzo and Anderson, however, patched things up eventually, with the 29-year-old actor saying the temporary rift was caused by a misunderstanding. He also cleared Wurtzbach's name amid rumors she had a part in the quarrel.
Prior to sharing her status with Anderson, Alonzo said on Monday she feels no pressure when it comes to tying the knot at a certain age.
"Ako, siguro, may kanya-kanya tayong timeline, 'no. I try not to get affected sa pressure na binibigay sa akin ng society. May kanya-kanya tayong journey, e," she said.

Just Being Pressured
The pressure to have a hit project must be taking its toll on Competent Actor (CA) and Female Talent (FT). Placed in a competitive slot, the pair must not just rely on the story material, as both must prove that they can lead their timeslot. In other words, the two would have to prove that the network made the right choice in gambling in their new partnership.
On the first taping day, the production was so unhappy that the two could not get their act together. The scenes were awkward and no camera angle could hide the bad acting. There was no chemistry between the two and all expectations were failing. The head had no choice but to reprimand the two. They should shape up or else their project would fail, and failure would lead to the quick end of their career. Incidentally, the production was disappointed in FT, who belongs to the promising roster of talents of the network. She has the face and can act, but her performance was a thumbs-down.
A few days later, the production was shocked at the sudden change of the two. Both were giving their all in their lovescenes and the awkward feeling that the two were better than adult actors pervaded. The two were a bit wild and did not matter if sensitive body parts were exposed. Thus, the two had to be told to slow down.
What happened between the shooting days was critical. Allegedly, CA and FT decided to practice their scenes prior to shooting. As their roles called for mature scenes, they started to practice kissing and from that moment, the action turn to the bedroom and after a few hours, inhibition was lost and the two became comfortable with each other. Thus, their acting improved tremendously.
One time, the two had just finished their physical practice in the bedroom when Feisty Boyfriend (FB) decided to drop by the pad of FT. Sensing his arrival, An Assistant (AA) delayed him for a few minutes to ensure that the two would look innocent. True enough, FB saw CA and FT seated and calmly rehearsing their lines. FB did not catch anything incriminating.
After almost being caught, AA reminded CA and FT to be more careful in their encounters, as FB is not one who will not raise hell. FB knows the power of social media and at certain moments, he has also shown a bit of his temper. FT should indeed know what to value. During their relationship, FB has been a staunch believer and supporter of FT and her personal background was something that he had already accepted. Poor FT, as later, she might have to make the decision of choosing her career over love.
