When a drama series was offered to Serious Performer (SP), he took the project like a regular job and took his role earnestly. After all, the network decided to have him in the project, and at the rate his appearances has been lately, his presence on the screen should bring him back to the consciousness of viewers. The network did not scrimp on the budget and the locations were impressive. Even the writers did their job, as the plot was new and challenging.
However, despite all the good points going for the project, expectations were not met. Ratings were unimpressive, and naturally, if ratings are low, advertisers will shy away. Typical of showbiz practices, if a project does not rate, expect its end within one season. True enough, the project was shelved early.
The outcome of the drama disappointed SP, who was once considered as a sure primetime king. He has had projects that made the competition end earlier than expected. He had fans following his projects and making sure they were all properly patronized. This time, things changed and SP could not hide his disenchantment.
Primarily, SP blamed his co-stars for the failure of his latest project to last long. SP pointed out that His Leading Lady (LL) did not have the same fan base as his former screen partners who obviously had solid followers who could increase awareness of the show. LL was comparatively new in the station and her fans could have dispersed, as she has been away from the scene for a time as well. Obviously, viewers did not see the chemistry between SP and LL, who also has an image problem that has not been resolved in her career shift.
Moreover, even if SP gave it his all, reality says that his disposition towards fans has not been that warm in recent months. Thus, some lost interest in following his career. Consequently, he no longer has the same shine as before and the abrupt end of his project could be an indication that he is unable to carry a project alone.
