Betrayed Loyalty

Friendships formed in showbiz are admired, as celebrities often lament the lack of true or real people in their workplace. Thus, the public keeps watch on prominent best friends and even call such relationships as their goals. Even if they are celebrities, they still demand acceptance, loyalty, and honesty in their friendships. Close friends are expected to be invited and make time for events for the clique. However, when observers noticed the absence of One Friend (OF) in a monumental occasion, speculations were raised.

Usually, OF would be in the company of This Group (TG) comprising of various talents coming from different sectors of the industry. They seemed to share the same interests and similar backgrounds, and thus, they are expected to be trustworthy and keep each other’s secrets. One time, TG met, but OF was not with them and as people know, the one who is absent in a gathering is usually the one talked about.

As the gathering was going on, Another Member (AM) of TG started babbling about OF. AM started talking about how OF was allegedly having an affair with a Married Man (MM). The relationship was very serious, but OF had to make a choice as their relationship resulted in an unplanned event. To prevent a scandal, OF had to resort to a major decision. AM continued talking, not aware that Someone Else (SE) was listening intently.

After the gathering, SE immediately relayed to OF what AM was telling about her. OF felt betrayed, as she never thought that her so-called friends would gossip about her. Thus, she avoided TG and skipped the major event. Moreover, her presence in that event would also attract questions as to when she will be following herself. Her absence avoided the awkwardness of such situations.

As to the reason why AM decided to tell such a story about OF could have stemmed from her friendship with the wife of MM and a bit of guilt. Allegedly, AM was responsible for introducing OF to MM, who allegedly had another third party long before OF entered the picture. Nonetheless, the loyalty of AM was with the other person and not with OF, who thought that everyone in TG was worthy of her friendship.
