Must Deal with Reality

Recently, netizens coined the word “mema” to refer to comments or reactions of people for the sake of having to say. In other words, the expressed opinion often does not have anything to do with the controversial issue being discussed in social media. The reason why people behave in such manner can be the result of various reasons. They could simply want attention or merely desire to be visible.

At these times when ordinary people can react to any statement made in social media, celebrities are often the prime target for criticisms. Netizens are quick to react and to refute posts they feel strongly for or against. In most cases, netizens will jump at the chance to say something negative for the sake of “mema.” However, there are celebrities who make it a point to react to issues and even upload long posts, which are not at all safe from bashing. Sometimes, the more that one says, the more does he/she gets in trouble. Celebrities on social media are not spared from such critics and once triggered, these celebrities will not spare the opportunity to return the favor to their netizens bashers.

Still, netizens sometimes do their own analysis of why celebrities post the way they do toward issues. In the case of Outspoken Celebrity (OC), attention was shifted to her because of her strong words toward controversies. As OC belongs to a showbiz family, her presence in social media has drawn attention. Thus, anything she posts is open to bashing and praising, with the former being more popular.

The way OC has been reacting to issues allegedly reflects her character. While her parents have been known for humility and camaraderie, OC seems to be indifferent. It’s possible that her attitude is her way of saying that she is unable to accept the fact that her parents are very famous. Even as a child, she has been known to be miserable toward others. Growing up, she nurtured her being anti-social and would not mingle with the showbiz pals and events of her parents. Worse, she does not hide her disgust at her siblings on the side of her dad. Her half-brothers and half-sisters were born prior to her father marrying her mother. Although her mother has accepted the situation of having an extended family, OC has not even if she practically grew up knowing theirs is not the only family.

Now, her camp is worried that her being tactless in her social media might create a backlash in an image that she needs to build up for her future. It seems that OC has had a change of heart and her recent decisions are placing her in the limelight.
